ChicoBags offer a smart, simple way to promote reusable bags and teach our children that they CAN make a difference! Go Green with PS 115! Margo - P.S. 115 of New York, NY The ChicoBags have been a hit with our fundraising efforts for the EV Cane Middle School 8th grade 2009 Washington DC trip. The bags sell themselves! They are great for the environment and a fresh new fundraising idea. Everyone loves them! Tracy - EV Cane Middle School of Auburn, CA The world s largest landfill can be found floating between Hawaii and San Francisco. Wind and sea currents carry marine debris from all over the world to what is now known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This landfill is estimated to be twice the size of Texas and thousands of pounds of our discarded trash, mostly plastics. - National Geographic News Each year the United States consumes 30 billion plastic and 10 billion paper grocery bags, requiring 14 million trees and 12 million barrels of oil. - National Cooperative Grocers Assoc. At least 267 different species are known to have suffered from entanglement or ingestion of marine debris including seabirds, turtles, seals, sea lions, whales and fish. - Greenpeace Making a Difference The ChicoBag fundraiser is a two-pronged approach: it s designed to help your organization earn money, while educating your community about reducing single-use waste. The ChicoBag team provides resources to supplement your fundraiser, including curriculum, Bag Monster, press release templates and more! The Bag Monster is a costume worn by fundraising volunteers to visually show the impact single-use plastic bags have on our environment. Each suit is adorned with 500 plastic bags, the average amount a person uses each year in the United States. (Contact the ChicoBag team for more information on how to get a Bag Monster costume.) * 3 Packs available in Hemp-Cotton, repete Mesh and repete Chico, CA USA
3 Take Action in the Classroom Designed for schools, non-profits, sports teams and groups looking to make a difference. ChicoBag Teacher Resource Center ChicoBag has created the Teacher Resource Center so educators can tie curriculum into their fundraising efforts. These custom lesson plans were created by a credentialed teacher and will assist in promoting environmental awareness among students and the community. Lesson plans are in accordance with the Investigation & Experimentation section of the California Content Standards & the National Science Education Standards. LACE is a set of culminating activities that educators can effortlessly tie into their current curriculum practices. LACE offers the necessary resources for educators to implement standard-based lessons which coincide with ChicoBag fundraising opportunities. These real-world strategies provide students with the tools they need in order to take action within their community through awareness, research and dialogue. These lessons can aid in reducing the negative impact plastics have on our environment and supports the notion of using reusable bags, as opposed to plastic bags. Students receive an introduction to environmental concerns by watching movies, reading and discussing articles, and studying fact sheets that provide information about the North Pacific Gyre, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and the negative impact plastics have on our environment. Students conduct classroom, school, or family audits, gathering data that aids them in attaining a greater understanding about the use of plastics in their community. Using the worksheets in the program, have students gather and analyze their data. You can include all or some of the worksheets based on your students needs. Students create a fundraising pitch to use while they are selling ChicoBag brand reusable bags and/or construct an awareness poster to place around campus. Introduce this lesson by explaining to your students the importance of awareness. Explain to them how they can positively contribute to reducing the use of plastic bags by taking action. Students take action by selling ChicoBag brand reusable bags (fundraising), starting a recycling program at their school, starting an environmental club, communicating with local businesses and city officials, or by discovering other effective methods in reducing waste in their classroom, home, school, or community. After completing all or some of the activities above, have students use the knowledge they have attained to take action locally using one or more of the suggestions listed in the take action worksheet. for complete lace program call or visit us on the web Chico, CA USA

10 Frequently Asked Questions what is a 501 C3? The 501 C3 is a document from the IRS stating that you qualify as a non-profit organization. Most times this document is held by an accountant or treasurer. If you do not have this form, please let us know. In most cases we can still approve your organization. can i use both order methods? Yes. The preorder method is a great way to order samples or a limited supply. The order form method allows you to expand your product selection without tying up your cash and leaving you with unnecessary products to return. why are there products on your website that are not in your fundraising packet? Currently we are only offering standard products in our fundraising packet. These products can be returned within 90 days if they do not sell during your fundraiser. The additional items on our website can be purchased and included in your fundraiser, however, they cannot be returned for any reason other than defect. can family and friends order online to help our fundraising efforts? No, we are not offering this service. If a family member or friend orders through our website, your organization will not get credit from that sale. The website is a great use as a reference for out of town friends and family but the order must come through the organization. what payment methods are available? We accept checks, money order and credit card payments. If you are sending payment via check or money order, please note that we cannot release the order for shipment until funds are received. If you need your order expedited, please let your sales representative know. how long will it take for me to get my order? Orders placed within the United States are usually received within 10 business days. This allows for 2-3 days processing and up to 5 days for shipping. All orders ship UPS ground unless otherwise requested. Orders outside of the United States, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico ship USPS and may take longer. Important note: Shipping times without expedition services are not guaranteed. All shipping costs will be the responsibility of the customer. If you need your product by a particular date, please be sure to let your sales representative know at the time your order is placed. how do I return my unsold fundraising bags? Returning your unsold product is easy. First, contact your sales representative to let them know you will be returning merchandise. You will be assigned an RMA # to reference on your box. You can then ship it to: ChicoBag Chico, CA Chico, CA USA
