2 According to Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) LAW NO 5174 Every company performing activities in the field of maritime shipping has to become a member of Chamber of Shipping.
3 Turkish Chamber of Shipping was first established in 1982 as Istanbul Chamber of Shipping and afterwards its area of activities has been extended gradually so as to cover the region of the Sea of Marmara, the Aegean Sea coast and the Mediterranean coast and then finally the Black Sea coast of Turkey. 3
4 THE MISSION In cooperation with the public and private sectors and in order to ensure the Turkish Shipping Sector s developing in a free and fair competition atmosphere; to increase its international competition strength and to provide its contributing to the development of our country and with an ever increasing understanding of service; to provide the right and timely services and information to its members and to eliminate the points in the international and national regulations which hinders the development of maritime shipping. 4
5 THE VISION Starting with our guiding principle of Maritime Nation, Maritime Country and by contributing to the development of the Turkish Merchant Fleet, to ensure our Country s getting more share from maritime shipping which is the carrier of world trade.

17 Turkish Shipbuilding Industry, especially with its progress ever since 2002, has become one of the fast-growing sectors of the country. The numbers of shipyards increased to 71, including the modernizing of the previous ones and extended to the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions, although their numbers was only 37 in Turkish yards are in the 11th place in world ranking. Our shipyards have a good reputation in building of small and medium tonnage chemical tankers. By January 2012, Turkey was in 17 the 4th place among the countries which takes tanker orders.

19 In the field of Military Shipbuilding Industry, Turkey is among the most prominent countries and at present, for the Turkish Navy, military vessels of various types and tonnages are being built at the Turkish civilian shipyards. 19

23 FISHING FLEET Our fleet is using highly technologic equipment and our fishing reserves are more than our yearly fishing capacity. Currently we have registered fishing boats. 23
24 Ship Dismantling Sector is operating at İzmir/Aliağa region since Aliağa Ship Dismantling Facilities is named the most environment-friendly ship dismantling facility throughout the world. In 2012, 281 ships ( LDWT) were dismantled in the facilities. 24

26 TURKISH LLOYD Turkish Lloyd is an independent, equitable, trustable and expert classification confermity body assesment and certification body; established, in 1962 by the Chamber of Shipping Engineers, with the contribution of Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies, with the partipication of the Union of Chamber and Commodity Exchanges, Chamber of Shipping, İstanbul Chamber of Industry, Turkish Shipowners Association and Turkish Shipsbuilders Association. Turkish national classification society Turkish Lloyd Association (TLV), is at 10th rank within the 12 class societies that showed high performance (with -1,69 excess factor) according to the Paris MoU Annual Report 2012.

28 Turkish Maritime Education Foundation (TUDEV) was established in Istanbul on 07 January 1993 by 52 founder members, most of whom were from the maritime community. 28
29 First Priority: has been given to eliminating inadequacy of Officer Problem and as such the main objective has been to provide a solution to it in the long and medium terms. Second Priority: has been given to the training of highly qualified and sufficient number of Maritime Operators. 29
30 Turkish Chamber of Shipping supports every Educational Institution in Turkey such as Maritime Faculties and Maritime High Schools. There are 23 Universities and 56 High Schools nationwide in Turkey. Bachelor s (Faculties) Level Maritime College (2 Years) 640 Maritime Vocational High School Navy Total of Students. * Estimated value 50% of Our Chamber s Annual Budget is being spent for supporting Maritime Education. 30
31 PİRİ REİS UNIVERSITY IS A PIONEER IN THE TURKISH MARITIME WORLD, SINCE IT WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE AID OF EVERY COMPANY IN TURKISH MARITIME SECTOR. IT HAS AN ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY DESIGNED GREEN CAMPUS WHICH WILL BE THE FIRST AMONG 168 UNIVERSITIES IN TURKEY. FOR COMPLETING REST OF CAMPUSES AND THE REST OF THE BRANCHES, US$100 MILLION ARE CURRENTLY BEING INVESTED. 31
