2 Message from the Managing Director From humble beginnings in Bunbury in 1980, Nexus Risk Services is now one of Western Australia s largest insurance brokers, with a major presence in our capital city, as well as a broad regional spread. During this time, Nexus has grown to a team of 50 high-quality staff members, who work together to create a culture that ensures a continuously high level of service. Our growth has also been enhanced by our willingness to embrace and offer valuable risk mitigation services, including IT infrastructure reviews, workplace health and safety audits, workers compensation and injury management programmes, insurance valuations, contractual reviews and complex claims management. In 2014, Nexus joined Austbrokers and, with their mantra National strength linked with individual commitment, we look forward to a successful and long-term partnership. Through AIMS, a joint venture between Austbrokers and the Insurance Brokers Network Australia (IBNA), Nexus accesses significantly enhanced products and services. IT infrastructure reviews Our consultant will identify the risks your current IT infrastructure, compliance and risk mitigation practices pose to your business, and recommend improvements to minimise these risks. Workplace health & safety audits We engage independent consultants to conduct a free health and safety audit at your workplace premises and recommend an action plan based on key issues. Should you decide to implement a safety management system, we will negotiate a cost contribution with the workers compensation insurer. 7 Company history 1980 s In 1980, Patterson Wright & Associates was established in Bunbury. A change of ownership over the following years, including Mark Patterson s purchase in 1986, saw the company change its name to Patterson & Associates s In 1990, Patterson & Associates joined the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA). In 1994, Patterson & Associates became a member of the IBNA Group, a cluster of 70 broking firms throughout Australia providing many benefits, including unified negotiating strength. In 1995, Patterson & Associates merged with Southstate Insurance Services and became Patterson Pedler Insurance Brokers s In 2001, expanded its operations, opening offices in Albany and Perth, as well as Geraldton in In 2003, the company was renamed Nexus Risk Services. By 2005, Nexus Risk Services had combined managed premiums of over $20,000,000, serviced by five commercial brokers Onwards In 2010, Nexus Life was established, offering life and superannuation solutions to Nexus Risk Services clients. In 2012, NGI (Nexus Golf Insurance), a division of Nexus Risk Services, was established to service clients in the golf industry. In 2014, Nexus Risk Services managed premiums in excess of $60,000,000. AUB Group Ltd acquired 50% of Nexus Risk Services; a relationship forged with the individual commitment Nexus clients expect, backed with national strength. 7
