2 Aloha Friends, We are excited to invite you to our 5 th Anniversary Gala Golf Tournament, scheduled for August 24, 2011 at Turtle Bay Resort Golf Club, Arnold Palmer Golf Course. This fundraising event will once again bring everyone together to benefit The First Tee of Hawaii and all of its participants. We need your help to make the tournament a success for this outstanding youth development program. You can do your part by sponsoring a team or donating to the event. The Arnold Palmer golf course at the Turtle Bay Resort Golf Club is regarded as the best course on Oahu and is in Golf Digest top 75 greatest golf resorts. The Arnold Palmer golf course has hosted numerous professional events in the past, including LPGA s SBS Open ( ) and The Champions Tour Turtle Bay Championship ( ). The Turtle Bay Resort is currently home to the Hawaii State Open and this year s First Tee of Hawaii 5 th Anniversary Gala Golf Tournament. 3 Event Beneficiary The First Tee of Hawaii is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) youth development organization that teaches life skills through the game of golf. Youth ages 7 to 18 learn full-swing, short-game, putting skills, and rules and etiquette. Through the course of golf instruction, they also learn how to set goals, how to evaluate their decision and judgments, and how to have confidence in themselves. The First Tee lessons are taught at local golf courses and military bases and also at our home facility for The First Tee of Hawaii which is located in Waialua, HI. The First Tee of Hawaii was chartered as a Chapter of The First Tee on May 1, 2006 as The First Tee of Oahu. During the first year of programming in 2006 under a Letter of Intent (LOI) The First Tee of Oahu had 12 participants. On May 1, 2008 The First Tee of Oahu became The First Tee of Hawaii, becoming a chapter for all of the islands of Hawaii and there were 112 youth that took part in chapter programs. In 2010, the chapter saw significant growth in the number of participants, which saw 800 youth attend chapter programs. The research, development, and delivery of The First Tee Life Skills curriculum sets The First Tee apart from other junior golf programs and elevates and defines it as a youth development organization. The First Tee of Hawaii currently holds chapter programs on the Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Molokai, and Maui. The First Tee of Hawaii delivers outdoor Golf and Life Skills education programs over the course of eleven months, January through November. A staff of dedicated, enthusiastic, well-trained coaches who embrace The First Tee coaching Philosophy and the Life Skills Curriculum is critical to the success and further growth of the chapter. 4 Tournament Information 5 th Anniversary Gala Golf Tournament LOCATION: Turtle Bay Resort Golf Club, Arnold Palmer Golf Course DATE: Wednesday August 24, 2011 TIMES: 11:00am. 11:00am 12:45pm 12:45pm 1:00pm Registration & Lunch Pickup Putting Contest & Demo day Welcoming Participants Shotgun Starts 5:30 8:00pm Dinner, Auction, and Awards Presentation (Turtle Bay Resort Hotel) FORMAT: 2 Person Scramble. Each player hits a tee shot, the best ball is chosen and both players play from there. This format is used until the ball is holed. There will be a maximum of 2 putts when on the putting green. Each player must use a minimum of 4 tee shots. FIELD LIMITATIONS: The field is limited to the first 72 team (144 players) COST: $500 per team, or become one of our tournament sponsors PRE TOURNMENT CONTEST: There will be a putting contest on the practice putting green prior to the start of the tournament ON COURSE CONTEST: There will be closest to the pin contest on all Par 3 s and also a long drive contest. TOURNAMENT AWARDS: Finish in the top 10 and your team will be eligible to win one of our tournament prizes. There will also be numerous door prizes for everyone to be a part of. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance at our door prizes. DINNER RECEPTION: Following the golf tournament there will be a dinner reception located at the Turtle Bay Resort Hotel.
