1 Business Plan for Nanoose Bay Pentecostal Camp Leadership summary Objectives Spiritual growth, Social/ Relational advancement, Generational heritage Development of Facilities and Program Mission To provide amazing camping experience with spiritual vibrancy, a well-rounded physical program, opportunity to engage in social interaction, and to create anticipation for the next generation Organization Summary History This camp was established over 60 years ago when a number of visionary leaders, members of Pentecostal churches of the Vancouver Island section of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada joined together to establish a need ministry. A parcel of land, 14 acres located on the west end of Nanoose Bay became the home of Nanoose Bay Pentecostal camp in 1949 with the first camp activities in 1951 The vision of the founders was to provide a place of renewal where individuals and families could gather to foster growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ and each other. Since the founding of the camp, many youth who have gone through our camping programs have gone on to make valuable contributions to our society as Pastors, Missionaries, professional people and business people. Nanoose Bay Camp has been successful because of our commitment to training leaders for future generations, fostering a safe atmosphere of acceptance, respect and experiencing the value of working together as a team to accomplish goals and encouraging a spirit of caring for others before self and modeling the value of volunteerism. Since the Camp s inception, the number of camping programs has grown from 4 weeks annually to 5 months plus many weekend activities. Our hope is to provide facilities that can be used year round. Nanoose Bay Pentecostal Camp operates under the auspices of the Nanoose Bay Pentecostal Camp Society. The success of Nanoose Bay Camp can be attributed to: a positive history, interest passed down to successive generations, a staff of volunteers that are unbeatable, world class setting, support from a wide source and of course the Blessing of God.

2 Governances Members of Nanoose Bay Pentecostal Camp Society are: 1) All credential holders and their spouses who are actively engaged in the work of The Pentecostal Assemblies on Canada in the North and South Island sections and who have applied for Membership to the Board of Directors, and upon acceptance by the directors become members 2) One lay representative and spouse for every one hundred (100) members, or portion thereof, from each church affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in the North and South Vancouver Island sections. These representatives are appointed annually by their respective churches and submit a letter of approval from the pastor, to the Secretary on the Society. There is an elected Board of Governors, 8, chosen from the members of the Society. The President, First vice President and Second vice President are nominated by an appointed Nominating committee and voted on by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. 3 Full sized gymnasium Beach Volleyball court Trampolines Canoes Games room Outdoor chess/checkers board Shuffle board Mini golf Market analysis New services for the future require a broader presentation; rental year round, year round retreat facilities, small group capabilities, special interest group such as Arts and drama training, homeschooler s camp, photography workshop, music camp, etc. Similar organizations are struggling to remain operational due to shortage of funding and personnel involvement. We have avoided these problems because of good governance, broad and continued support and our onsite leases. Users of these now defunct camps may want to rent our facilities. Marketing opportunities available include: web site, Facebook and web/facebook links. Tools such as these will help us keep contact with our supporters and raise our profile with those who are not aware of what is available at Nanoose camp. Our web site has been updated. It is a great tool for registration and current activities. As a tool for selling the camp or as an online brochure it is lacking. Facts sell, pictures tell. Facebook with weekly updates of information and photos would be useful as well. The 30 and 40 age demographic requires different contact tools. 4 Future Projects Establish a Bursary Fund (Foundation) and sponsorship to provide financial aid to individuals who wish to attend NBPC functions and can t because of monitory restrictions. To solicit grants to create year round retreat facility. Phase one would be a redevelopment of the lodge (see below) providing 10 suites with access to a common kitchen/ meeting area on the lower floor. A business and marketing plan for this facility would be required. Market these facilities to our traditional base, to all churches on the Island, to lower mainland groups as well as advertising for personal retreats and off season vacations for those in colder areas (interior of B.C. and other provinces). Future marketing opportunities for year round use as a place for small conferences and retreats could be packaged on our web site with Links to area attractions, sightseeing, golf courses, places of historical interest. Future Planning, Strategy, Implementation Facilities Phase 1 Lodge upgrade to two- story with motel like accommodations, convenient kitchen and meeting room Phase 2 Add washrooms to eight-unit dorms, adjoining sidewalks Phase 3 Staff accommodations: construct new staff accommodations with washrooms incorporated. Phase 4 Dining Hall - provide shutters to close off serving/wash pit when not in use, house sound system, couches and occasional chairs for casual interaction. Further idea: consider second floor development. Phase 5 Tabernacle; install H-vac system, hang banners in chapel, gym and board room to add color and absorb sound

5 Financial Plan Do ongoing analysis on financial activity. Assess current rates for all functions. Attract new donors, expand operations Assemble a contact list i.e. address of each parent supporter, possible church contact list to create an engaging newsletter with attractive photos. This would encourage donations, enlarge our support group, and increase camp usage. Fund raising functions away from the camp facilities. Fund raisers on the camp grounds such as: concerts, dinner and silent auction, car rally, motor cycle tour, golf tournament. Distribute brochures to Law and Notary Offices giving information of estate planning and acceptance of bequeaths. Sale of Gift Certificate for camping season. Living Memorial Plan monies can be donated in honor of a deceased individual. 06/11/12
