3 BOBBY JONES LEGACY Born in 1902, Bobby Jones is a permanent icon of the game of golf. A co-founder of the Masters tournament at Augusta National Golf Course, Bobby also won numerous major tournaments, including five U.S. Opens, three British Opens, five U.S. Amateurs, and one British Amateur. As the only Grand Slam winner in the game s history, his accomplishments on the course are unmatched. Off the course, Bobby lived his life by a set of patriotic standards that propelled him to enlist in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Bobby Jones was a Veteran, a champion, and a role model for millions of Americans. In 1948, Bobby was diagnosed with syringomyelia, which he struggled with for 30 years of his adult life. For many Veterans returning from combat deployments, they are dealing with similar health struggles that impact their lives on a daily basis. One in five VGA members suffer from PTSD. Every day, 22 Veterans commit suicide due to emotional stress. Many Veterans are now turning to the game of golf to help them deal with the emotional and physical stressors of combat related exposure. As a tribute to his service to the nation, and his overwhelming love of the game of golf, Bobby Jones has partnered with the Veteran Golfers Asociation to present Tuesday for the Troops in Augusta, GA. By increasing Post Traumatic Growth opportunities for Veterans through the game of golf, Bobby Jones will continue his patriotic legacy for many years to come.

4 VGA MISSION STATEMENT The VGA is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to promoting the game of golf to veterans and their family members. Our programs allow VGA members to compete, socialize, and remain physically active through the game of golf. By hosting regional league play competitions, tournaments, and national championships, the VGA helps reinforce values like integrity, respect, and perseverance. Additionally, the VGA focuses on Post Traumatic Growth initiatives to help veterans and their family members cope with combat related injuries, stress, and suicidal tendencies. Using golf as an alternative activity, these veterans can choose a more productive way to deal with combat related stressors that affect their everyday lives.

5 INTRODUCTION Every year in April when the dogwood trees bloom in Georgia, celebrities, politicians, professional athletes, and golf enthusiasts from around the world descend on Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters. Bobby Jones Tuesday For The Troops is a one-day fundraiser in Augusta, GA, which includes a Captain s Choice Golf Tournament, afternoon tickets to the Master s Tuesday practice round, and a private concert by Colt Ford and friends at the Azalea Hospitality House, aiming to raise awareness and support for the Veteran Golfers Association. The Veteran Golfers Association is the largest veteran golfing organization in the country with over 650 members. Spanning every conflict from World War II to post 9/11, the VGA provides competitive tournaments for all veterans and their families.
