2 Code Black Personal Threat Personal threat occurs or is witnessed tify Coordinator/ Team Leader Dial 000 Police if appropriate This is the general procedure. Refer to Personal Threat Armed Hold-up Personal Threat Violent Threatening Confrontation or Threat of Suicide for specific procedures of these situations. Other potential situations: Assault/physical injury Hostage/kidnap tify Chief Warden Await direction from the Chief Warden
3 Code Black Personal Threat Armed Hold-up Involved in an armed hold-up Witnessing an armed hold-up Comply with the offender s instructions. Do no more. Call 000 Police Stay calm, if possible Prevent other people from inadvertently entering the situation tify the Chief Warden, Coordinator or Team Leader if possible If not directly involved, stay out of the way Make and record as many observations as possible Wait for assistance from police tify the Chief Warden, Coordinator or Team Leader if possible Await direction from the Chief Warden After the event Complete a Description of Offender form All observers, complete this form independently Cooperate with police

Hand it over without question Comply exactly with all the offenders demands Wait for assistance Witnessing a confrontation tify the Chief Warden Call Police Does any person require medical attention? Call Ambulance Await directions from the Chief Warden
5 Code Blue Medical Emergency Medical emergency has occurred Be calm, clear and rational. Approach with caution For expample: Person collapses heart attack fit or siezure Serious cuts Other bodily injury Does the person need to be moved? Is the person in immediate danger in current location? Do not move the person Is it safe to move them? For both you and the other person Move the person to a better location/position Call ambulance Provide: Your name & phone no. Patient and injury details Where you are DO NOT LEAVE THE PATIENT ALONE tify Chief Warden If necessary notify First Aid Officer Assesst the patient offer assistance if trained to do so Send someone to wait for the ambulance Stay with the patient unless there is immediate threat of danger Wait for ambulance
6 Code Brown External Emergency Cyclone or high intensity storm Cyclone or high intensity storm occurs Secure any external items to prevent them becoming airborne Close all doors and windows on windward side of building Open accessible windows on sheltered side (leeward) of building Move any people in the building to the sheltered side of the building Do not use landline telephone during thunderstorms Listen to radio for storm updates Turn off and unplug all electrical equipment Leave when safe to do so When leaving, beware of fallen power lines and trees, damaged buildings and flooded watercourses Earthquake Earthquake occurs Stay in the building Move away from external walls and windows If possible take cover under a sturdy object Remain there until directed otherwise

8 Code Purple Bomb Threat DO NOT HANG UP, even if the caller does Bomb threat received on phone Use the BOMB THREAT CHECKLIST Written bomb threat received If possible place the message in a plastic envelope Confirm that the message/ envelope/ parcel is a bomb or substance threat Avoid any further handling of the message To preserve fingerprints and other forensic evidence tify the Chief Warden Keep it quiet, and calm Await direction from the Chief Warden Chief Warden Receive notification of bomb threat Assess the situation use: Threat Evaluation P.39 Bomb Threat Checklist Bomb Search Routine Checklist Issue directions appropriately
9 Code Red Fire Response There is a fire or smoke Rescue anyone in immediate danger IF SAFE TO DO SO Break manual call point if applicable Call FIRE If possible, isolate the fire. Close fire doors Provide: Your name Location of fire Extent of fire Is ambulance required? tify the Chief Warden Fight fire ONLY IF SAFE TO DO SO Fire extinguished? Ensure everyone is safe. Secure the area for investigation Evacuate the building Follow the Emergency Evacuation Procedure Wait for emergency services Follow directions of Chief Warden
10 Code Yellow Internal Emergency Internal emergency occurs Assess the situation Examples of this type of emergency: Explosion Power failure Person trapped in lift Water supply failure Building structural failure Spillage or leakage of hazardous substance Illegal occupancy tify Chief Warden Follow directions of Chief Warden or other authority Assist others. Keep people out of danger Administer first aid if necessary Liaise with emergency services Restrict access to affected area
11 Code Orange Emergency Evacuation Evacuation tone is sounding in a building alarm system Evacuation is directed by Chief Warden After hours? Are you alone? Trained warden present? Chief Warden or Warden direct staff and visitors to the nearest exit as quickly as possible Check toilets and other secluded areas Report to the Chief Warden and act on instructions Determine if there is anyone else here Take mobile phone to Assembly Area Remain there until Emergency Services give the all clear One person assume role of Warden Take mobile phone to Assembly Area Warden give directions Comply with Chief Warden s directions Resume Remain there until Emergency Services give the all clear Comply with directions of person in charge
