1 Arrw f Light Ceremny Cubmaster: This next ceremny is fr the awarding f Cub Scuting s highest hnr, the Arrw f Light. It is such an hnr, that it is the nly award in Cub Scuting that can be wrn n the By Scut unifrm even by Adult Leaders. Because f the prestige f this award, this ceremny was mdeled after the traditins f ur Native Americans. The Principle Characters d nt depict a certain peple, but represents the spirit, traditins, and high ideals f all Native Americans. While thse participating are nt Native Americans, they are members f the Order f the Arrw, an hnr sciety f By Scut campers in which each member is elected by their Trp, t recgnize his willingness t prvide service t his Trp, cuncil, and cmmunity. The ldge ceremnies team is prviding their service t us tday t recgnize these Webels Scuts and their accmplishment. Let the ceremny begin.. Chief: I am the Mighty Chief. It is my duty t bestw the hnrs f scuting upn thse wh have earned them. Guide: I am the Guide. It is my duty t guide my yunger brthers thrugh their scuting career. Chief: There are sme amng us tnight wh have earned the highest award that Cub Scuting ffers, The Arrw f Light. They have strived t fulfill the rigid requirements f this award and have dne s successfully. Let them nw be recgnized. Guide: enters the pack and searches fr the bys (identified in sme unique way-fr instance, the nes wearing a hat). Upn finding them, he places his right hand n the left shulder f each by and says t each f them fllw me. He leads them next t the Arrw f Light sign.

2 Cubmaster: Arrw f Light award requirements: 1. Be active in yur Webels den fr at least 6 mnths since cmpleting the furth grade (r fr at least six mnths since becming 10 years ld), and earn the Webels badge. 2. Shw yur knwledge f the requirements t becme a By Scut by ding all f these: Repeat frm memry and explain in yur wn wrds the Scut Oath r Prmise and the 12 pints f the Scut Law. Tell hw yu have practiced them in yur everyday life. Give and explain the Scut mtt, slgan, sign, salute, and handclasp. Understand the significance f the Scut badge. Knw its parts and tell what each stands fr. Tell hw a By Scut unifrm is different frm a Webels Scut unifrm. Tie the jining knt (square knt) 3. Earn five mre activity badges in additin t the three yu already earned fr the Webels badge. The ttal f eight activity badges must include: Fitness (already earned fr the Webels badge) Citizen Readyman At least ne frm the Outdr Grup At least ne frm the Mental Skills Grup At least ne frm the Technlgy Grup Tw mre f yur chice 4. With yur Webels den, visit at least ne By Scut trp meeting, and ne By Scut-riented utdr activity. 5. Participate in a Webels vernight camput r day hike. 6. After yu have cmpleted all five f the abve requirements, and after a talk with yur Webels den leader, arrange t visit, with yur parent r guardian, a meeting f the By Scut trp yu think yu might like t jin. Have a cnference with the Scutmaster.

Chief: My brthers, nt lng ag yu entered the ranks f the scuting prgram. Yur determinatin t cmplete the challenges given yu is evident. The arrw f light represents the achievement f a gal, the reward f the dedicatin and the highest hnr a Cub Scut can earn. Befre we present this award, it is imprtant that yu understand the significance that it has. Guide: The Arrw f Light symbl has tw meaningful parts. The arrw represents the straight and true path that yu, as a scut, are expected t fllw. The 7 rays that radiate frm the arc each represent ne f the seven great virtues f life. Guide: The first is Wisdm--nt necessarily great knwledge, but rather the ability t use knwledge yu already pssess. Chief: The secnd is curage--nt simply face danger withut fear, but t face it in spite f that fear. Guide: The third is self cntrl--temperance in all things; sleeping, eating, hate and cnceit. Chief: The furth is justice--dealing fairly with all peple in all things regardless f race, clr, r creed. Guide: The fifth is faith--knwing that smething is true despite the fact that it remains unprven by physical evidence. Chief: The Sixth is hpe--the ability t expect things with cnfidence that they will happen. Guide: The seventh is lve--lve f self, family, friends, cuntry, and gd. All seven virtues are required fr a happy and fulfilled life. Chief: Cub Scuts (the By s names). Raise yur right hand in the Cub Scut sign and repeat after me the Cub Scut Prmise.
