23 MYTHS FROM THE COLLEGE SIDE

24 TO DO LISTS FOR JANUARY, FEBRUARY Most application deadlines are in January and February. Watch these deadlines carefully it is your responsibility to meet these deadlines! ASAP after January 1 Financial Aid Forms due. These include CSS Profile, FAFSA, and individual institutional forms. (Deadline for many colleges is February 15, but check each college s website to be certain!) Colleges like to hear from you: log onto their web site, check in with a newsy update to the representative, write a thank-you to your interviewer, etc. If you receive a notice or mail that your file is incomplete, please check in at the CCO. We can help verify the information (which colleges have but have not yet filed correctly!). Be patient. Colleges need time to review all the files, meet in committee and make decisions. Get involved with a new project, volunteer in the community, try a new activity!

25 MORE MYTHS FROM THE COLLEGE SIDE

26 TO DO LISTS FOR MARCH, APRIL, MAY AND JUNE Most colleges will mail their decisions to students in mid-march and early April. (It is nice to keep those teachers who wrote recommendations for you up to date about your results and decisions!) April is the month for re-visit programs at colleges. Keep your counselor informed as to which program(s) you attend and for advice with your decision-making & final choices. May 1 National Reply Date. Students must decide which ONE college to attend and submit the deposit and enrollment. Send a response to other college acceptances as well. Advanced Placement exams administered in mid-may. Wait-list decisions are rendered by colleges in late May and early June. June 6 th is Commencement! We will send your final SSA transcript to the one college you chose to attend shortly after school ends in June.
