3 Here I am Lord Send Me! Gordon Gilbey Executive Director Missionfest Manitoba And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am! Send me." (Isaiah 6:8) In Isaiah chapter 6, we have the privilege of observing God's personal call to Isaiah. Isaiah tells us that he got a glimpse of the Lord sitting on a throne, and was immediately convicted of his own sinfulness and knew that he was lost. Instead of condemning Isaiah, the Lord sanctified him and readied him for service. Then Isaiah heard the very voice of God asking "Whom shall I send," to which Isaiah uttered those famous words, "Here I am! Send me." Though the actual mission call to an individual may look different to Isaiah's call, I truly believe that the Lord calls each believer into His service. Further, each person is uniquely gifted and positioned to answer this universal call. This year at Missionfest Manitoba, we will be exploring how ordinary people have done extra-ordinary things by just saying 'yes' to God! Each of our keynote speakers have incredible stories about how the Lord worked powerfully through themselves or the individuals of their ministry. On Friday evening we will hear from Darrell Whiteman, who is a Christian Anthropologist who has spent a lifetime teaching others how to do incarnational missions. Saturday afternoon, Eric Foley will tell us stories about how persecuted North Koreans have answered this call. On Saturday evening we will get a glimpse into how a young P.G. Vargis answered this call and was sent into one of the toughest areas of Northern India with no apparent resources and began an church movement that includes over 200,000 worshippers. Danny Mackay (Saturday morning) and Ray Wieler (Sunday afternoon) will tell us how the Lord uses Manitobans to build His worldwide Church. Besides our keynote speakers, there will be a mission-focused youth event featuring not one - but two amazing bands (The Color and Flood the Stone)! Over 130 mission organizations and ministries desire to share with you what they are doing in the world, and how you can partner with them to build Christ's Church. There will be eleven hand-picked workshops to delve deeper into various aspects of missions. On Sunday afternoon, there will be a special performance of the Asante Children's Choir from East Africa. Even though the members of this choir are young, you can tell by their smiles that they love the Lord and have already answered "Here I am! Send me." In Romans 10:14-15, Paul clearly demonstrates that the only way a non-believer can hear the Good News is if a believer is sent. Whether it be across the street or around the world - the Lord is sending you somewhere to be His ambassador in this lost world. If you do not know how the Lord is calling you and what He wants you to do, or if you want to see how the Lord uses others to build His Church, then don't miss this very important weekend. We do this by pooling our resources to assemble a solid slate of speakers, musicians, exhibitors and guests that are beyond the capability of a single church. Our resources are derived from three sources: display fees paid by the exhibitors, free-will offerings received during the weekend and, above all, the volunteers, prayers and financial support of the local church. Churches not in a position to make a financial contribution are still welcome to become sponsors through the provision of volunteers, prayers and the promotion of the weekend within your church. Our commitment is to carefully use these resources to provide a weekend program that is both worthwhile to the churches of Manitoba and bring glory and honour to our Lord.
