The only exception is parents of minors who are competing in the Kids Mini Tri. The child transition area is separate from the adult transition area. This will help us maintain security. Please be respectful regarding space when you set up your transition spot. A folded towel is helpful in marking your area and in providing a spot to place your things. After you rack your bike by the seat, place your things either under or directly to the side of your bike. Be respectful of your neighbors. Transition spots will be on a first come, first served basis. They will not be reserved by race numbers. Remember your Helmet! There will be a separate transition area for the kids race participants. Restrooms: There will be two restrooms available for before the start of the race. One will be on the pool deck, and one will be at the track. Both are very close to the transition area. No portable restrooms will be available. Number Marking: Number marking will be available just outside the transition area before the race. All racers must be number marked before the race. Athletes will be marked with their number on each shoulder/arm (for swim lap counting). The race age will be marked on the right calf. Race Numbers: Each racer will also receive a race number that is to be worn on the run and must be worn as racers cross the finish line. The timing chip will be attached to the

3 race number. Racers must pin the race number to their front or use a race belt. Triathlon and Relay Triathlon Race Course: Swim: The Swim will take place in the Tulare Western High School Swimming Pool. Lane lines will be in the pool to create swim lanes. The race will include four waves. The male participants will be in the first two waves. The racers themselves through suggestions from the swim announcer will seed swim lanes. There will be slower lanes, regular lanes, and fast lanes. The announcer on the pool deck will issue guidelines. There will not be more than four swimmers per lane, with a goal of 3 or fewer swimmers per lane. Swimmers will be required to circle swim in the lane unless there are two or fewer swimmers per lane. Slower swimmers should yield to faster swimmers at the ends of the pool, waiting a few seconds for the faster swimmer to overtake them. There will be one certified lifeguard on the pool deck. Courtesy lap counters will be located on the east end of each lane. Athletes will complete 16 lengths, or 8 laps, in order to complete the 400 yards of the swim leg. The pool is a 25-yard swimming pool. Swimmers will begin and end on the East end of the pool. T1 (Transition 1): Swimmers will exit the pool on the East end, and will exit through the East Gate into the transition area. Once in the transition area, athletes will prepare for the bike leg. Nudity is not allowed in the transition area. Athletes must walk/jog with their bikes inside the transition area. Bikes may be mounted after exiting the transition area. Bike: Cyclists will exit the transition area, mount their bikes, and exit the parking lot on the North side of the parking lot, heading east. Athletes will exit the TWHS parking lot and turn left onto North D St. Cyclists will follow the bend on North D. St. and veer right. Cyclists will then turn left onto North E. St. Athletes will then turn left onto W. Pleasant Ave. and head west. Cyclists will continue on W. Pleasant until they reach the end of W. Pleasant and turn right onto N. Enterprise Ave. Athletes will then head North and turn left onto W. Prosperity Ave (Ave. 240). Cyclists will continue until they come to the turn around which will be located at the corner of Ave. 240 and Rd. 68. Racers will NOT cross Rd. 68 or bike on it. An aide station will be located after the turn around. Riders will be required to slow down to make the turn around. Cyclists will then continue back to TWHS on the same route they came west on. Run: (Kids Race) Once the athletes return to the transition area, they will then run to the track and complete one lap, finishing the race in front of the bleachers. Timing: Athletes will receive a disposable chip that is attached to their race number. This chip will provide a finish time for each participant. Timing chips will be used for the Sprint Triathlon, Relay Triathlon, and Duathlon. The kid s race will not have a finish time, and kids participants will not have a timing chip. Aide Stations: Aide Stations will be available in three places on the course. 1. The transition area. 2. The turn around on the bike course. 3. Mile one and mile two on the run course. Water and Gatorade will be available at the aide stations. It will be provided in small paper cups. Please do not litter on the course outside of the aide station area. An ambulance will be on call for any medical emergencies. Parking: There will be plenty of parking for this race, and it will be a VERY short walk. Please park in the East side of the parking lot, since part of the run course and bike course will cut through the driving lanes of the parking lot. The Transition area will be located next to the pool on the Western side of the parking lot. (See Course Maps) Awards: A finisher award will be awarded to all Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon finishers.
