2 Welcome The Department of Biology of Physical Activity and its Neuromuscular Research Center (NMRC) welcomes you to the International Symposium on: Physical Fitness and Training Adaptation: Mechanisms and Practical Applications. Our International Symposium in 2009 continues the intensive course series of the Department of Biology of Physical Activity that has been organized since 1995 at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences in the University of Jyväskylä. The program of this Symposium is composed of over 30 oral presentations that cover basic and applied sciences in the field of sport, exercise and health including various practical aspects of sport coaching. The aim of this Symposium is to promote and advance research related to the basic elements of physical fitness and training-induced adaptations as well as to encourage and improve interaction between young and experienced researchers. Based on the list of the speakers, we strongly believe that the Symposium will be of high scientific quality, and the diversity of topics meets the interests of individuals working in various areas related to topics of the Symposium. The information given at the Symposium will no doubt be applicable in both research and practice. Venue The symposium venue is the Liikunta building, Keskussairaalantie 4, Jyväskylä. Badges All participants will receive a badge upon arrival at lecture room L304, located on the 3rd floor. Coffee breaks Coffee breaks (included in the registration fee) take place on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the Liikunta building. Lunch Lunch possibilities are Ilokivi and Lozzi next to the Liikunta building (at your own expense).
