4 DRT IN NATIONAL LAW Passenger Services Act (XLI of 2012) On-demand passenger service: a passenger service applied onto varying routes or timelines, or onto varying routes and varying timelines by a licensed provider (licence as defined in this Act) under public service contract or carriage license, organized with the use of information technology tools DRT is part of PT services, like traditional PT services 4

19 PASSENGER LOAD EXAMPLE Bus line 65 From 1st October 2014 bus line 65 (running between Kolosy tér Fenyőgyöngye final stations) runs in a dial-a-ride system until Szépvölgyi dűlő during its operation hours. 20 TECHNOLOGY USED FOR BOOKING AND INFO Modes of reporting the demand If the dial-a-ride line is integrated into the traditional PT system, i.e. it is a continuance of a scheduled line: Demand can be reported via call-center (half an hour before the scheduled route at latest) Demand can be reported directly to the driver if the passenger would like to get off at a stop on the extended segment of the line If the on-demand line is not integrated into the traditional PT system, i.e. it is a continuance of a scheduled line: Demand can only be reported by call-center Online reservation is not possible yet 20

23 VIEWS FOR THE FUTURE Possible directions of development Dial-a-ride system made possible the economical service of areas with low transport demand BKK is planning to extend the current dial-a-ride system BKK analyzes the possibility of transforming traditional low-capacity PT lines into on-demand lines In defined time windows (on weekends, for low-capacity hours on weekdays ) or the whole operation of lines 23
