INTERVIEW TIPS An interview is only the beginning of a long drawn out journey through job training and experience. Interviews can be tricky at times, so preparation in advance is always helpful. To answer to the best of your ability, to make a good impression, and to secure that suitable job, everything is an art. Researches shows that following division is considered while hiring a candidate for any position:- Logical Thinking References 9% 9% Professional Qualification 10% Education 12% Work Experience 36% First impression of the candidate 24% Here are some tips that will help you in preparing for your interview and to get closer to your dream job:- 1. Before you even think about the questions that are going to be asked during the interview, you must research about the company. You must get some knowledge about the position you are applying for, because interviewers will ask you questions related to it, you can answer them fluently and confidently. You should also find out what the products the company produces and read some blogs related to these, because you will probably be asked some questions about the products of the company. You should know the latest news in the world too, because if the interviewers ask your opinions about one piece of the latest news such as a football match, you won t be in the dark and can give them your opinions.

2. After you have finished your investigation of the company, make sure you go prepared with a resume. A resume is the record to your personal history, educational background, employment experience and goals achieved. Have someone else look over your draft and double check grammar and spelling. Try and have your employment experience and skills related to the job you are applying for. A neat and professional resume builds a good image of you from the very beginning. Do bring 2-3 copies of your resume. 3. Along with your resume, you must present yourself looking professional. You must be dressed properly, which will give the interviewers a good first impression. 4. Prioritize a set of objectives and questions. Going in prepared makes you look capable and competent. Some of the things you may want to think about are:- What are your long term aims? What does your job entail and how do you plan to tackle it? What other transferrable skills/experience have you gained that will help you on placement?
5. Review Common Interview Questions and prepare responses. Do all kind of coding question in any one computer language. Go through the content you have studied in your B.Tech, questions related to any subject may be asked. Moreover a candidate must be prepared to answer questions from his strong areas. 6. Practice writing your code on paper. More neatly you write your code, more confident you appear in coding area. It always creates a good impression on the interviewer. 7. A critical key to a successful interview is practice. Before you go into the actual interview, you should practice as much as time allows. The key to this Q & A part of the interview is to offer precise, yet complete answers to the questions presented. If you are stumped by a question and draw a blank, don t panic, simply state that the question is a tough one and ask for a little extra time to consider your response. You might also ask if it is alright to come back to the question. Whatever you do don t attempt to answer a question until you are ready. Stumbling through an answer will not impress the recruiter.
8. During Interview do not slouch or cross your legs, maintain good posture where possible. Smile even if you are understandably nervous; you want to appear approachable and not stern. Make sure you are polite at all times and use your manners; please and thank you still go a long way. Look confident but not appear brash. Try to make eye contact with your interviewer and be conversational. Asking questions will demonstrate your keenness but do not overdo the questions or turn it into a one-sided conversation. 9. Listen. Concentrate not only on the interviewer s words, but also on the tone of voice and body language. Once you understand how the interviewer thinks, pattern your answers accordingly and you will be able to establish a better rapport.
10. Don t answer vague questions. Ask the interviewer to clarify the question and don t interrupt the interviewer. Don t be overly familiar, even if the interviewer is. If you don t listen, the interviewer won t either. Remember there is no syllabus on interview preparation and no notes. You won't be given answer sheets or time to revise. What you will have however is a clean slate to express yourself. Your power lies in your ability of expression: how you talk, move, respond, dress, you carry yourself and how you answer questions. Be calm, cool and confident. Succeeding in job interviews takes research, practice, and persistence. The more effort you put into your interview preparation, the more success you ll see in obtaining job offers. Wishing you All the Best! References:
