1 West Grove Welcome to the third public exhibition for West Grove, the second phase of Elephant Park - the new name for the regeneration of the former Heygate Estate. The exhibition boards and application documents presented here explain the Final Proposals for West Grove, Walworth Square and the surrounding streets. 2 West Grove Consultation The plan to the right demonstrates how the designs for West Grove have responded to matters raised during the consultation and engagement programme.. The use of traditional brick for buildings in Plots H and H3 complements the local vernacular Shop frontages have been developed with the appropriate character to respond to human scale at ground level. Plot H 3. The two storey high podiums consented in the Outline Planning Permission in both Plots H and H3 have been reduced to a single storey to accommodate retail. 4. The raised podium edge to Park Street West has been eroded further between the buildings to provide a more generous landscaped area. 5. In plot retail servicing has been adopted for both plots On street bays for servicing on the Central Shopping Street The plot servicing has been removed from the north of Plot H to help make Park Street West more pedestrian friendly and accentuate the green link.. Places to sit have been provided in Walworth Square and as part of the street environments. 5 3 Plot H3 South Gardens 9. A colonnade has been included in Plot H3. 0. A clear separation has been created between Walworth Square and Garland Court.. The raised landscape planters have been re-aligned to direct people away from Wansey Street and Garland Court N. Trees have been placed at the west end of Walworth Square. 3. Flexibility of uses offered in Walworth Square. 4. An opportunity for public art or a war memorial has been provided in Walworth Square. 5. The cycle hire docking station will be relocated away from Walworth Square.. The designs have reinforced pedestrian movement into the Central Shopping Street rather than Wansey Street. 7. Spill out space for the library into the Square has been provided.. The buildings opposite the Old Town Hall have the appropriate character to create a strong relationship with the Old Town Hall. 9. Walworth Square flows out onto Walworth Road and into the Old Town Hall garden. 0. No signed cycle route has been created through Walworth Square. Signed cycle routes will be on Heygate Street and the Central Shopping Street.. The Central Shopping Street is based on the principles of traditional London streets such as Bermondsey Street.. The Heygate Street 'boulevard character' will be retained and enhanced by planting new trees on the north side. 3. Pavements will be provided on both sides on Heygate Street. 4. The Heygate Street public realm will be improved through enhanced planting, crossings and by creating a better street environment. 5. Park Street West has been aligned to offer views of the new park from Hampton Street.
3 West Grove Tall Buildings Plot H tall building The tall building on Plot H is located at the corner of Walworth Road and Park Street West. The building is ground plus thirty storeys of residential accommodation, the tallest in Elephant Park. Plot H3 tall building The tall building on Plot H3 is located at the corner of Walworth Road and Heygate Street. The building is ground plus eighteen storeys of residential accommodation. 4 West Grove Design Quality We have appointed award winning architects AHMM and Panter Hudspith to design West Grove to the highest quality standards. Following are some of the key features included in West Grove: Every home has a private terrace or balcony that provides a generous and natural extension to the living areas. The inset balconies are designed to maximise daylight and views but also provide an external space that can be used all year round and be part of the home with ample space for dining and living. Green and leafy residential courtyards provide shared amenity space for residents designed in response to the environmental conditions. WALWORTH ROAD HEYGATE STREET The layout of each home maximises views, space, light and ventilation, and offer the benefits of a flexible space that allows residents to adapt the space to their needs. Shared resident garden in Plot H Over 0% of the homes are dual aspect. The interior design shows a keen appreciation for space, attention to detail, texture and high quality finishing.
