2 Overview Modified February 20, 2015 Welcome to CONTENTdm 6.10! This release continues the Responsive redesign of the CONTENTdm Website, adding Tablet and Desktop views as well as support for PDFs. For Direct users, CONTENTdm 6.10 adds support for current versions of Ubuntu, CentOS, Apache, and PHP. For Hosted users, we have improved reindexing speeds and converted JPEG files to JPEG2000 files as needed for improved performance. There are also a number of smaller improvements and bug fixes. 2

3 Operating System and Browser Support Modified February 20, 2015 CONTENTdm 6.10 was tested on the 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 R2, CentOS 5, 6, and 7, Ubuntu LTS, and Ubuntu LTS. Windows Server 2008 is also supported. Other versions of Linux are not supported, but CONTENTdm has been successfully installed on other Linux distributions based on kernel versions 2.6 and later. CONTENTdm 6.10 was tested with the following browsers: Google Chrome (current versions) Mozilla Firefox (current versions) Apple Safari (current versions) Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 10 and 11 3

4 Features and Enhancements Modified February 20, 2015 Expanded Responsive Website CONTENTdm 6.10 adds new capabilities to the Responsive Website introduced (as Mobile View) in CONTENTdm 6.9. To view the Responsive Website, go to: <Your_CONTENTdm_Website_URL>/digital/ Exactly what you see depends on the size of the available screen. You can try this on different devices, or resize your browser window to approximate the screen size of different devices. Here are a few examples. Responsive Website Desktop View 4

6 Modified February 20, 2015 In CONTENTdm 6.9, only image files were available in the Responsive Website. CONTENTdm 6.10 adds PDFs: You can use the buttons at top left to View or Download the item. PDFs display in Page Flip View. 6

7 Modified February 20, 2015 Both site Home and site About pages are now visible in the Responsive Website. Additional improvements to the Responsive Website include a Less counterpart of the Show more (metadata) button, and caching improvements to reduce page load time. 7

8 Modified February 20, 2015 Other features and enhancements Support for Ubuntu 14 and CentOS 7 Linux distributions This includes support for Apache 2.4, PHP 5.4, and PHP 5.5. Support for PHP 5.4 on Windows Support for Windows 8.1 for the Project Client Finding Aid (EAD) custom tags preserved in HTML <head> Versioning added to CSS and JavaScript files to prevent browser caching problems on release updates HTML5 MP4 video playback support added for Google Chrome Hosted image performance improvements: large JPEGs converted to JPEG2000s Hosted indexing speed improved for full indexes Webalizer usage reports removed from CONTENTdm Administration Index Pagination Index Pagination is a beta feature that improves search results in CONTENTdm Index Pagination creates a new index that puts the full text from each page of a compound object into a single index record for that compound object. The compound objects themselves remain unchanged. CONTENTdm Hosted users can enable Index Pagination by contacting CONTENTdm Support. CONTENTdm Direct users can enable Index Pagination by following the instructions at 8
