The University benefits from a stunning and modern campus set on Brayford Wharf in the heart of the historic city of Lincoln. Work Based istance Learning (WBL) is located in the Lincoln International Business School and has a proven track record of successfully delivering Management and Organisational evelopment degree level programmes. Our range of Management Top Up egrees include; Business, ngineering, Logistics, Retail, HRM and Humanitarian Supply Chain. These programmes now have upwards of 1500 students with an annual graduation of some 200. WBL works with a range of organisations, including the Mo, SM s and Corporate organisations, seeing this as an area for growth. We recognise that our continued success will be driven by the academic community; hence we are seeking to recruit and retain active, ambitious and capable staff to build and sustain our future. The post holder will manage the strategic partnership that has been established with the Ministry of efence (Mo), and facilitate, deliver and develop the expansion of University of Lincoln s WBL learning top-up degree programmes. Job Purpose This is a key post for an individual experienced in Higher ducation to play a core role in facilitating the further growth of WBL student numbers and the development of the overall Lincoln Business School WBL programme portfolio. Its primary responsibility will be the overall management of all aspects of the maintenance and ongoing development of the portfolio of WBL top-up degree programmes offered in partnership with the Mo. The principal tasks and functions will include: Page 1 of 9

2 achieving planned recruitment targets and supporting a military population of at least 300 new enrollers per annum; facilitating and implementing programme portfolio development; making a key contribution to Mo partnership management; maintaining and growing the University of Lincoln s national and international reputation within and out with the Mo; maintaining and developing academic partnerships with Mo teaching and learning establishments and the associated supporting organisations. The post is intended to provide effective co-ordination, management, and leadership of all operational aspects of the WBL Mo programme portfolio, working in close liaison with the Lincoln Business School s Head of Work Based and istance Learning and the irector of the Lincoln Business School. The post is initially for a fixed, 3 year duration. It will be reviewed after 2 years and is likely to be extended or made permanent if the growth of student numbers and the success of the partnership with the Mo justify this. KY RSPONSIBILITIS Operational Management Monitoring and maintaining academic quality standards across all Mo programmes. Managing all primary dealings with the WBL tutors and the support and administrative team in relation to Mo WBL programmes. Supporting presentations and briefings at Mo learning establishments, which may include Overseas organisations. Managing and supervising all aspects of programme delivery and student support which relate to the WBL partnership with the Mo and for which the Lincoln Business School is responsible. Acting as the main point of contact for the University of Lincoln for the delivery of, and arrangements relating to the WBL partnerships with the Mo. xercising responsibility for managing the WBL partnership operation s activity, income, and performance including delegated financial responsibility. Maintenance and management of the University of Lincoln web site and pages relating to Page 2 of 9

3 the WBL Mo programmes. Coordinating and leading marketing developments in relation to all WBL Mo programmes Student Tutoring, Recruitment and Induction Online tutoring and tutorial support of students on WBL programmes on a regular basis using a full range of appropriate technology, e.g. from and telephone to Skype and webinars. Representing the Lincoln Business School in the UK: (i) at promotional events aimed at recruiting new Mo WBL students and (ii) at induction sessions for newly enrolled students when these are arranged to take place in areas where there is a concentration of demand for the WBL programmes offered in partnership with the Mo. Leading Mo student induction days and events. Authorising and advising WBL academic and administrative colleagues on military student applications for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Staff Recruitment and Training Part of a recruiting team for all members of staff in the WBL tutor and administrative team, including Associate Lecturers and participating in selection interviews. Co-ordinating the training and supervision of both new and existing members of the WBL tutor and administrator team to enhance skills levels available to the programme. Training new academic and administrative staff on Mo structure and organisation in relation to the delivery of and applicability for, entry onto the Mo academic programmes. Analysis and Research Peer group review of emerging technologies, systems and techniques of WBL programme delivery to maintain market leadership. Facilitating and analysing feedback from students to optimize the quality of WBL delivery. Identifying and exploiting the demand for new WBL programmes. Managing and progressing the academic validation and institutional approval of new programmes for the Mo. Partnership and Programme evelopment and Programme Promotion Page 3 of 9

4 Initiating and developing new WBL top-up degree programmes in response to Mo demand. Working with other WBL Programmes Managers, the Lincoln Business School s Head of Work Based istance Learning and senior Mo Officers and Mo stake holders at various UK and International locations, to ensure that WBL partnership with the Mo is properly maintained and developed. Maintaining and developing relationships with appropriate professional institutions in relational to the accreditation and marketing of WBL programmes within and out with the Mo. Quality Assurance nsuring that: all University of Lincoln quality assurance processes including validation, setting entry criteria, and the determination and application of RPL criteria are fully implemented. the WBL partnership with the Mo is fully compliant with the relevant Codes of Practice of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher ducation. all online materials are of optimum quality through working with the WBL tutor team. the Mo, and those staff involved in the WBL partnership, understand, agree to and demonstrate their ability to fulfil their responsibilities, and are fully aware of University of Lincoln policies and procedures for assuring the quality of learning. Finance & Budgeting xercising responsibility for the financial management monitoring and performance of the Mo WBL programmes and the 2 year budget and contract reporting. Initiating confidential budgetary monitoring and financial administration advice to the Head of WBL. Initiating remedial action to correct any budget shortfalls and re-profile the operational budget as required. In addition, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Page 4 of 9

Undertake face to face teaching on full time or part time programmes as required. Act as a WBL tutor across all programmes and modules as required. Act professionally at all times. Be willing to perform some duties in the evenings and/or at weekends and/or at locations other than Lincoln if required. Use appropriate technologies (including computer, , on-line information systems, photocopier, telephone, voic and fax equipment) in the execution of the functions of the post.
