Prospects of University Graduates and their Value for Employers and Labour Market KATEŘINA MARŠÍKOVÁ, SV ĚTLANA MYSLIVCOVÁ TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF LIBEREC, FACULTY OF ECONOMICS
Mainaim To introduce and discuss position of university graduates at the labour market Data from selected European countries and primary data of Czech graduates Analysed factors: unemployment, overeducation of graduates, earnings, graduates expectations and preferences.
Employability of university graduates Depends mainly on: on the field of study, abilities and knowledge of graduates, quality of higher education, situation on the labour market, employer requirement.
Labour market in Europe Increase of university graduates (up to 40 % of population). Employment rate of young graduates (20-34 year olds) who left education and training in the previous three years should be at least 82% (European Commission, 2014). Educational and job mismatch (up to 40% in Europe). People who left school at the earliest opportunity are twice as likely to be unemployed as university graduates (European Union, Economist).
Czech labour market and university graduates Average unemployment of Czech university graduates in approximately 4.4 %. The lowest rates of unemployment have students of pharmaceutics and medical faculties (only 1.6%). The highest unemployment has students of agricultural faculties (8.8%). Average gross income was the highest at the University of Economics in Prague 43,323 CZK (approx. 1,600 EUR). Comparing to e.g. Germany: nearly 80 % of students expect their earnings between 2,000 and 4,000 EUR (Walter and Förster, 2015)

Conclusions Important factors for graduates was (for their employer choice): Content of their work. Location of employer. Level of earnings. Working hours and working timetable.
Conclusions Czech higher education system still emphasises knowledge but students are not trained to transfer it into practical abilities and competencies. Graduatesdo not have knowledge and skills that are needed in the labour market. Preferenciesand expectedcompetitionsofgraduatesand empoyers often do not meet
