1 58 TH FINN-DINGHY HUNGARIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND INTERNATIONAL REGATTA 2014 TIHANY (HUNGARY), SEPTEMBER 2014 NOTICE OF RACE 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. Aim of the regatta: Awarding Hungarian Finn Champion titles and International Regatta Venue and time: Tihany, September Participating classes: Finn-dinghy 2. ORGANISATION 2.1. Organising Authority: Tihanyi Hajós Egylet (Yachting Union of Tihany), in conjunction with the Hungarian Yachting Association and the Hungarian Finn Class Association (HFA) 2.2. Principal Race Officer: László Szalai 2.3. Jury Chairman: Charles Perry 3. RULES The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Rules of Sailing ( ), the Hungarian General Sailing Instructions 2014, the Regatta Regulations, the Advertising Regulations of the Hungarian Yachting Association, the International Finn Association (IFA) rules and this Notice of Race. Appendix P, Special Procedures for Rule 42 will apply. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 4. ADVERTISING Participating boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 5. ENTRY AND REGISTRATION 5.1. Entry fee The entry fee in case on pre-entry will be HUF/competitor for HFA members and 45 EUR/competitor for foreign competitors The entry fee in case of on-site registration will be HUF/competitor for HFA members and 50 EUR/competitor for foreign competitors Competitors of Hungarian nationality can enter the race only in case they have paid the HFA membership fee for 2014 (membership fee is HUF/person) Pre Entry Pre-Entries shall be submitted by completing the entry form on until 14 September Late entries may be submitted until the on-site registration deadline. 1

Place and time of on-site registration Place of registration: Regatta Office, THE Marina (8237, Kenderföld u. 19. Tihany). Time of registration: 24 September hrs and 25 September hrs. 6. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS, SIGNALS MADE ASHORE 6.1. Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located at the Regatta Office of THE Marina Signals made ashore will be displayed at the main flagpole of the club located in the port. 7. SCHEDULE 7.1. There are ten (10) races scheduled for the regatta No more than four (4) races shall be sailed on a day On the last day of the regatta no warning signal will be made after If less than 4 races are completed between September, races shall be organized on 29 September as well. 3 Sunday 28 September 2014 Prize giving Ceremony No warning signal will be made after Prize giving ceremony will be held after the last race and after the protest time limit, exact time and place will be posted on the official notice board. Monday 29 September 2014 If less than 4 races are completed until 28 September, races shall be organized on 29 September as well. 8. RACING AREA AND COURSES 8.1. The racing area will be among Balatonfüred, Alsóörs, Siófok, Zamárdi and Tihany according to the current wind conditions The courses to be sailed will be as follows (the diagrams showing the courses will be posted on the Official Notice Board): In winds below 15 knots (Course No.1) Start-1-1/b-3/3a-1-1/b-3/3a-Finish (Finish in a reach) In winds of 15 knots and above (Course No.2) Start-1-1/b-3/3a-1-1/b-2-Finish (Finish at the end of the second reach) 8.3. The Race Committee boat will display the appropriate course with the numeral penants 1 and 2, no later than the warning signal Time limit to finish will be within twenty (20) minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes. 9. OFFICIAL BOATS 9.1. Race Committee boats will be marked with an RC flag Jury boats will be marked with a JURY flag Press boats will be marked with a PRESS flag Non-official boats may only enter the racing area to perform their rescue duty. 10. PENALTY SYSTEM Protest forms are available at the jury office and shall be submitted within the protest time limit which is 60 minutes after the Race Committee (starting) vessel gets ashore. Protest fee shall not be paid. 11. SCORING Number of excluded races according to the number of completed races: 3

4 Completed races Excluded races At least four (4) races are required to be completed to constitute the Championship. A Low Point System will apply in accordance with RRS Appendix A. 12. PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY, PRIZES Prize giving ceremony will be held after the last race, exact time and place will be posted on the official notice board The prizes will be given to the top six boats racing in the Hungarian Championship and to the overall top six boats in the international regatta, to the winners of the Grand Masters, Grand Grand Masters and Legend categories, as well as to the top three boats of the Wooden Finn category. The best junior will be awarded with the Kertész Gábor Trophy. 13. OTHER PROVISIONS Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance which shall be presented during the registration The number of equipment (must, sail, rudder, etc.) used during the regatta should be in accordance with the class rules. Control measurements may be made before and throughout the Regatta. 14. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 15.
