1 INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL RESEARCH OF CATALONIA ICIQ-FIFC Spain-Japan Joint Symposium on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry of Complex Systems November 25-27, INTRODUCTION The "ICIQ-FIFC Spain-Japan Joint Symposium on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry of Complex Systems", co-organized between the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia and the Fukui Institute for Fundamental Chemistry, will bring together researchers from both countries working in the general field of computational chemistry. The goal of the meeting is to exchange knowledge between the participating groups and strengthen the ties that may lead to future collaborations. Attendance to the lectures will be free of charge, although we kindly ask all the attendees to register in order to facilitate smooth access to the Institute. LOCATION. HOW TO ARRIVE By Car From AP7 motorway: Take Exit 33 and get on the N-240 road towards Tarragona. After the first traffic light follow "San Pedro y San Pablo" sign which lead you to the Països Catalans Avenue, where the ICIQ is located. From the centre of Tarragona: Once you get to the Imperial Tàrraco Square, take the Andorra Avenue, which becomes the N-240 road, towards Valls. Then take the Sant Pere i Sant Pau exit, which will lead you to Països Catalans Avenue, on which the ICIQ is located. Navigator Absolute Values: N E ICIQ has a very small parking lot. For this reason, we strongly recommend you should park on a free parking lot right opposite ICIQ, Avinguda Països Catalans: It is also quite easy to find parking spaces in Avinguda Països Catalans and adjacents streets. By Taxi Tarragona has many taxi stands around the city. You can also get a taxi by calling to the following taxi companies: Associació Tàrraco Taxis (Phone: ), Agrupació de Ràdio-Taxis de Tarragona (Phone: ) and Sicart (Phone: ). 1

2 By Bus There are many long-distance buses which link Tarragona with other cities. Tarragona s bus station is at the Imperial Tàrraco Square (for further information you can call ). Plana, a coach company, makes the route Barcelona-Tarragona several times a day (for information about timetables you can call ). By Train Trains from different origins (Barcelona, Madrid, Reus, Valencia) stop at Tarragona s station. For information regarding timetables and prices you can visit RENFE s website ( By High Speed Train If you are coming from Madrid or Zaragoza you can take the AVE up to the Camp de Tarragona Station, which is placed in Perafort, 9 km far from the ICIQ. For further information about prices and schedules you can visit RENFE's AVE website ( By Plane The nearest airport to ICIQ is Reus Airport, 7 km far from Tarragona. From there you can get to the ICIQ by taxi or bus. Barcelona s airport is 90 km far away. You can get to Tarragona from Barcelona airport by taxi or bus. ICIQ TRANSPORT We inform you that there will be a transfer coach (55 seats available) every day in front of the Hotel SB Ciutat de Tarragona which will bring you from there to ICIQ. This same coach will bring you to the hotel when all the conferences are finished. We inform you that the nearest bus stops are the ones called Educacional N-240 or Joan Serra. PROGRAMME The final programme is supplied in a separate document Registration desk will be open on Wednesday, 25 th November from 1:45 p.m to 5:30 p.m Certificates of attendance will be given by the week after the event On Friday, 27 th November, a luggage room will be at your disposal (Meeting Room E3) ACCOMMODATION We have blocked a total of 80 rooms at Hotel SB Ciutat de Tarragona until the 23 rd October, so it is advisable to make reservations as soon as possible. Participants need to phone or them and mention the name ICIQ FIFC while booking their rooms. Breakfast is included. This will be the official hotel of the meeting, and transport will be arranged to/from it. TARRAGONA Tarragona, a UNESCO's World Heritage site, enjoys some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the Iberian Peninsula. Tarragona is located 100 km south of Barcelona at the heart of the Costa Daurada, where some of the longest and sunniest beaches in the Mediterranean coast can be found.
