Place a symbolic image of Social Justice in Action in your school community. Welcome and Introduction Celebrant... Let us stand and proclaim God s love as we sing. Entrance Procession and Hymn We are called - David Hass Greeting: Sign of the cross We come together as one family in the presence of God. Let us pray for God s love and forgiveness. Penitential Rite Lord Jesus you come to show us the way. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy Lord you come to teach us the truth. Christ have mercy Christ have mercy Lord you come to give us life. Lord have mercy Lord have mercy Opening Prayer God of love and compassion, in Jesus you show us the way to live. Help us to open our hearts to all people so that God s love and generosity may flow into our families and our local and world communities. We ask this through Jesus, your son. 2

3 Reading - Isaiah 32:15-18 A reading from the prophet Isaiah There will be poured on us The spirit from above; Then shall the wilderness be fertile land And the fertile land become forest. In the wilderness justice will come to live And integrity in the fertile land; Integrity will bring peace, Justice give lasting security. My people live in a peaceful home, In safe houses, In quiet dwellings. This is the word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm R/ Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace forever. O God, give your judgement to the king, To a king s son your justice, That he may judge your people in justice And your poor in right judgement. R/ May the mountains bring forth peace for the people And the hills, justice. May he defend the poor of the people And save the children of the needy. R/ In his days justice shall flourish And peace till the moon fails. He shall rule from to sea to sea, From the Great River to earth s bounds. Gospel reading John 14:23-26 A reading from the holy Gospel according to John Jesus said to his disciples: If anyone loves me he will keep my word, And my Father will love him, And we shall come to him. And make our home with him. Those who do not love me do not keep my words. And my word is not my own: It is the word of the one who sent me. I have said these things to you while still with you; But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you. This is the Gospel of the Lord. 4

5 Homily Prayers of the Faithful God has called us from every nation and culture to become one family. With one voice we pray. For the leaders of our church family and the leaders of our country grant them wisdom and courage as they show us how to be giving and compassionate. We pray for those who work with families, particularly the staff of CatholicCare. May they be guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit in their work. May their efforts bring peace and happiness to the families who seek their assistance. For our local and global community, we pray for generosity, compassion, peace and Justice. For all children and young people, we pray they be blessed with a generosity in spirit and action. For all those who are in need, sick or alone, may our school community reach out to them. For all who have died, especially members of our community, we pray for eternal rest. Gracious and generous God, hear our prayers, and the silent prayers in our hearts. This we ask in the spirit of Jesus your Son. 5

Through your love, may we have life to the full. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Blessing and Dismissal The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Let us bow our heads and pray for God s blessing. May the LORD bless and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show his favour and give you his peace. (Numbers 6:24-26) Dismissal Go and live out the Gospel message in your families and communities.
