3 PREPARATION OF THE RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER INSTALL PC CLOSE TO THE PLC (Programmable Logical Controller) Field Configuration software (FCT) is installed on the PC. Please refer to FXT user manual INSTALL AND POSITION RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER RX MODBUS MULTI must be installed close to the PLC Fix the RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER Wall mounting with 2 brackets ❸ Collar mounting with 2 brackets ❺ DIN RAIL (2 adaptors to be fitted at the back of the RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER ) RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER must always be installed with antenna ❹ upwards CONNECT THE ANTENNA TO RX MODBUS RECEIVER RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER is delivered without antenna Selection and position of the antenna is extremely important for optimizing radio wave propagation We highly recommend for better range performances to use a Long range antenna (Ref: ANT-REN-SMA LR 868 MHz). This antenna is provided with a 5 meter cable and 10 meter extension cable as an option (Ref: REN- SMA-10M)

4 CONNECT RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER TO THE PC Open the lid using the 4 screws ❷ and connect the PC to USB port of RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER Once RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER connected to the PC: Red power LED indicator will first switch on and then blink every 20 seconds L5 yellow LED indicator (Power) will switch on CONFIGURATION OF RX MODBUS RECEIVER DIP 1 & DIP2 SWITCHES For the installation of the transmitters, RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER must be configured in serial USB mode. You will select this configuration via DIP switches 1 & 2 DIP SWITCH 1 ❾ will define communication interface DIP SWITCH 2 ❽ will define serial or USB mode USB interface: Switches 5 & 6 ON All of the others OFF RX MODBUS USB serial mode: Switches 1-2 & 3: OFF A label describing DIP switches combination is available inside RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER enclosure. You can now start the installation of the transmitters - Please follow recommendations of Transmitters installation guides and FCT user manual

5 CONFIGURATION OF THE TRANSMITTERS AND THE RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER FCT (Field Configuration Tool) software allows installation of the transmitters and configuration of RX MODBUS Receiver. Please refer to FCT user manual available on 1) Start FCT software Select English and type your user name Click on Refresh list. The USB COM Port you have connected the receiver to will be selected. Click on Connect. The receiver is now connected to the PC Messages in the dialog will appear confirming that the receiver is connected to the PC 2) Add transmitters to the configuration file To add transmitters to the configuration file, please refer to the installation manuals of the transmitters you want to add. 3) Add the RX MODBUS MULTI receiver to the configuration file You will now configure the RX MODBUS receiver. In the Receiver tab, click on Edit/View

6 A new window will open. Click on this button to add the RX MODBUS MULTI receiver Set the Modbus receiver by filling the ID and all of the other fields. Receiver ID Address stated on the label of the RX MODBUS receiver. This address contains 8 digits positioned under barcode on the label. MODBUS address Select between 1 and 254. The value 1 is given for information purposes. Baud Rate Possible values are: 2400/4800/9600/19200 and bps. The default value is bps Parity None (default value) Even Odd

7 Stop bits Values : 1 or 2 (default value) Data bits The only possible configuration value is: 8 MODBUS table 1 The transmitter values are registered in the MODBUS table number 1 as well as pulse for the TX ENERGY+PULSE You have to confirm the value of the first register from which the values of transmitters are going to be saved. The value of this first register can be between 0000 and The value is given for information purposes. MODBUS table 2 The TX ENERGY + PULSE transmitter values (excepted pulse values registered in table 2) are registered in the table MODBUS number 2. You have to confirm the number of the first register from which the values of transmitters are going to be saved. The value of this first register can be between 0000 and The value is given for information purposes. Make sure that the value of the first register for the MODBUS 2 table is superior by more than 700 to the value of the first register of the MODBUS 1 table to avoid any conflict between both tables. If it is not the case Modbus table 1 and Modbus table 2 boxes will appear in red

8 INSTALLATION OF THE TRANSMITTERS Once the transmitters and the receiver configured, click on «Start configuration» then on Yes. 1) Install the transmitters For the installation of the transmitters on the RX MODBUS receiver, please refer to the Field Configuration Tool user manual or to the products installation manuals. 2) Validate the installation of the transmitters Click on Configuration Status The transmitters will appear in green, confirming that they have been installed correctly.

9 INSTALLATION OF THE RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER You ve installed the transmitters. These transmitters appear in green in the configuration window of the FCT software. You have now to validate the configuration of the RX MODBUS receiver and the connexion with the transmitters. FCT software is still active. 1) Click On «Stop Configuration» button Message in the dialog box click on YES Configuration Stopped 2) Click on «Disconnect» Message in the dialog box Disconnected from COMx 3) Unplug the RX MODBUS USB cable from the PC 4) Configure DIP 1 and DIP2 as described below Switch DIP1: Switch 5 & 6 ON Switch 1, 2, 3 & 4 OFF Switch DIP2: Switch 1 & 3 OFF - Switch 2 ON

10 5) Reconnect the RX MODBUS receiver to the PC via USB cable L5 LED indicator of the RX MODBUS receiver will blink every 2 seconds for 1 minute maximum confirming that the RX MODBUS receiver is in installation mode. 6) Click on «Connect» Message in the dialog box Serial Port Connected: COM3@xxxxx 7) Click on «Start Configuration» Message in the dialog box INSTALL REQUEST for Receiver xxxxxxxx INSTALL SUCCESS for Receiver xxxxxxxx The combination of LED indicators L1, L2, L3, L4 & L5 will confirm success or failure of the installation of the RX MODBUS receiver SUCCES OF INSTALLATION L1 et L3 LED indicators will blink 5 times confirming the installation of the RX MODBUS receiver Then, L5 will remains ON FAILURE OF THE INSTALLATION L1, L3 & L5 LED indicators will blink 5 times confirming the failure of the installation for the RX MODBUS receiver. Then, L5 will remains ON The failure of the installation can be caused by the exceeding of the deadline (1 minute) to install the RX MODBUS MULTI receiver. In case of installation failure, repeat the procedure.

11 8) Validate the installation of RX MODBUS receiver Click on Configuration Status button The 2 transmitters and the RX MODBUS receiver appear in green. This confirms that the installation is a success.

12 INSTALLATION OF RX MODBUS MULTI RECEIVER ON THE PLC 1) RX MODBUS MULTI receiver installation on a PLC Configure the switches of the RX MODBUS MULTI receiver as described below RS485 Modbus configuration Only one RX MODBUS receiver can be used on a RS485 bus. The RX MODBUS receiver is not linkable with others RX MODBUS receivers on a same RS485 bus. Switch DIP 1: Switch 3 & 4 ON Switch 1, 2, 5 & 6 OFF Switch DIP 2: Switch 1 & 2 OFF - Switch 3 ON 2) Connect RX MODBUS MULTI Receiver to the PLC RS232 connection RX MODBUS MULTI Receiver is delivered with 3 wires cable connected to COMMS terminal block. Wire labeled GND (Ground) connected to GND terminal block on RX MODBUS receiver. Wire labeled TX (Transmission) connected to RX terminal block on RX MODBUS Receiver Wire labeled RX (Reception) connected to TX terminal block on RX MODBUS Receiver

13 RS485 2 wires connection You need to provide the 2 wires cable Wire 1 : TX connected to TX/A terminal block on RX MODBUS receiver Wire 2 : RX connected to RX/B terminal block on RX Modbus receiver 3) Power RX MODBUS MULTI (from 7.5 to 24 V) RX MODBUS MULTI receiver can be powered: With main power from 7.5 to 24 V With 12 Volts power supply (Réf : POWER ) In both cases wires will be connected to POWER terminal block of RX MODBUS MULTI receiver Black wire will be connected to GND Red wire will be connected to +VE Once powered L1 LED indicator will blink during 1 minute. After 1 minute LED indicators L1, L3 & L5 will blink. L5 LED indicator will then remain on RX MODBUS receiver is now installed. It will collect data from the paired transmitters. Power LED indicator will blink every 20 seconds L4 LED indicator will blink every time RX MODBUS MULTI receiver will receive data from transmitters
