Kiln drying - same as abve. Pricing and Grading Rules - siding/ barn bards. Bard is nt srted t shades f grey/brwn/red. This can be carried ut fr an additinal $.67/sqft. "Brwn bard" is a prduct, nt a clr specificatin. It is 7/8" thick r better, cmes in varied shades f brwn, and can be srted t species fr an additinal $.45 per bard ft. "Dust bard" is a thin brwn bard less than 7/8" thick and can be a reversed siding bard t use the interir face. Prices are based n prduct selected t meet ur grading rules. Upgrades will be priced t meet yur wn specificatins. All bard rders will include 10% shrts charged at the 8'+ price. Widths will be randm, unless therwise requested. Milling prices are guidelines and each rder will be quted individually. Specialized items such as mantels and Swing beams will be priced individually. We will metal detect bard prducts fr an additinal $0.67/sqft. An additinal $0.67/sqft premium n all bard prducts (including 2" Flring) that are >=12" wide.

3 Descriptins and Grading Rules - Timber Please nte that if yu have specificatins that are narrwer than the grading rules listed belw, please let us knw and we will prvide a price qute based n yur specificatins. Fr example - if yu require fur premium faces and n mrtise r hardware hles, extra charges may apply t cver srting. Timber rders are typically fulfilled with mixed species. Srting charges may apply fr single species rders. Clnial Grade Timber General Specificatins Premium grade timber. Hand hewn n fur faces. Pressure washed, end trimmed and visually de-nailed. Structurally sund and visually appealing. Minimum f three premium faces. Maintains fairly cnsistent sizing thrughut the length f beam. Mrtise Pckets/Hardware Hles May have sme hles left frm hardware that has been remved. Likely t have sme mrtise pckets/ntches which may affect mre than ne face. May be a rafter plate prviding it has n ther defective areas. May have thrugh mrtises. Rt May have small amunts f surface rt which after being pressure washed leaves a sund surface with n lse wd. Rt will nt take away frm the verall visual appeal f the timber. Repairs Minr repairs may have been perfrmed t the timber t amelirate a minr flaw in an therwise premium timber. Wane Minr wane is allwable. Allwable wane increases with the dimensin f the timber. Nails All prtruding nails have been remved frm the surface f the beams Sme nails may remain at r belw the surface f the beam. Checking/Cracking/wrm hling Beams may have sme checking and cracking. Mre checking and cracking is permissible in a hardwd timber. Minimal wrm hling is allwable, but nt t an extent that it takes away frm the verall appearance f the beam Clr. Clr will vary frm timber t timber and even within species. Frntier Grade Timber The degree f wane (differing thickness frm end t end) is the main differentiating feature f Clnial and Frntier grade timber. General Specificatins Rustic grade timber. Hand hewn n fur faces.

May nt have cnsistent sizing thrughut the length f beam - pssible significant wane. Mrtise Pckets/Hardware Hles May have sme hles left frm hardware that has been remved. Likely t have sme mrtise pckets/ntches which may affect mre than ne face. May be a rafter plate r sill plate. May have thrugh mrtises. Rt May have sme surface rt, which, even after pressure washing, appears as rt and des nt add t the visual character f the beam. Rt may affect mre than ne side f the beam. Rt will in n way affect the structural integrity f the beam. Repairs Minr repairs may have been perfrmed t the timber t crrect a minr flaw in an therwise premium timber. Wane Wane and pssibly bark is allwable creating a mre rustic appearance t the beam. Wane may affect multiple r all edges. Allwable wane increases with the dimensin f the timber that differentiates Clnial and Frntier grade timbers. Nails All prtruding nails have been remved frm the surface f the beams. Hand Hewn 2 Sides These timbers are hand hewn n tw ppsing faces, with the remaining tw sides un-milled. (Rund.) They therwise fllw the same basic grading rules as the Frntier Grade timbers. This type f timber is cmmnly knwn as, "Lg cabin timber." Antique Sawn Timber Antique sawn timbers were riginally milled with a band r circular saw (nt hand hewn), and may cntain mrtise r hardware hles. All have been visually de-nailed and pressure washed. Natural checking (cracks) may be present. All timbers are structurally sund. Sawn timbers vary in clr, with a faded, aged appearance. Jacket Bard Jacket bard is a plank sawn frm a Clnial Grade, hand-hewn timber. Jacket bards are usually 2" t 3" thick, with 3 hand-hewn faces, and are prduced in many widths. Jacket bards are used t create the appearance f timber frame cnstructin in a cnventinally framed structure. A typical applicatin is t use them as faux rafters in a vaulted ceiling - they wuld be munted t cnventinal framing, usually ver finished gypsum r plasterwrk, and appear t be actual rafters, thugh they prvide n structural functinality.
