mbti personality assessments Helping people understand their personality and the personality of others for over 50 years. PROVIDED BY CERTIFIED PRACTITIONERS AT NEW DIRECTIONS, INC.» together we can make a difference

Using MBTI To Strengthen Your Organization Because your people are your number one resource, it often means many personalities working together in the same office. This can lead to great collaboration, as much as difficult conflicts and misunderstood communications. Let us help bring personality knowledge to you and your staff and give you the tools to discern traits and preferences. We are Certified Myers-Brigg (MBTI) Practitioners and have been working with many workplace personalities for over 28 years. We offer workshops that highlight personality strengths and bring to light personality challenges. Let's get the whole team on the same page and get past personality issues. The World s Most Widely - Used Personality Assessment The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. The MBTI is 98% reliable on retesting and has 50 years of proven data behind it. Have you ever said? I work for a difficult boss. I want to know my areas of weakness and build my strengths. My team must meet high performance requirements and needs to maximize its ability to deliver results. I m interested in my personal growth and development. Why are some people talkative and others are not? My team doesn't get along with each other. I ve been given feedback that I need to change the way I interact with others. Why does my significant other do those things that just irritate me! That s where the MBTI Assessment comes in handy

A closer look at what we provide BASIC MBTI ASSESSMENT AND DEBRIEF: Workshop: The MBTI is the most well-known personality instrument, having been used for over 50 years. It provides insight into extraversion and introversion, how we bring in information, make decisions and order our environment. When all of these factors are put together, it gives us clarity and insight into our own personality preferences, as well as others. The learner will be able to: Identify their MBTI personality preference based on their online assessment Use the dominant functions for deeper understanding Recognize their personality strengths and weaknesses and how to replace weaknesses with skill Realize when stress and/or illness cause personality problems and how to deal with them Who Should Attend Anyone interested in understanding their personality and how they interact with others. Cost for an Individual $250 includes tool and debriefing with a coach Cost for an Organization $2500/day + tool cost In long-term studies of personality, some of the most core parts of personality remain stable throughout life. Research shows that 60-80% of all difficulties in organizations stem from strained relationships between employees. The typical manager spends 25-40% of their time dealing with workplace conflict. 85% of dismissals in the US are due to personality conflicts. 80% of companies employ some type of assessment either during the hiring process or when making talent management decisions internally.

A closer look at what we provide COUPLES MBTI ASSESSMENT AND DEBRIEF: Workshop After we did MBTI training with our office staff, they all wanted their spouses and significant others to go through it as well. The insights learned have improved their communication and understanding of each other s differences. The learner will be able to: Identify the different MBTI personality types Recognize strengths and weaknesses in you and your partner s types Apply insights into the dominant functions of type Identify what happens when stress and/or ill- ness causes personality issues to flare up and how to help each other get through it Construct a collaborative roadmap to improve relations between each other Who Should Attend For couples who want to understand how personality type affects their relationship. Cost for Couple 40% of conflict stem from preference differences in the judging/perceiving category. Conflicts emerge especially between people who prefer to start early versus those who need to be pressure or prompted. Those with a strong thinking preference scan for what s wrong in order to correct it. Those with a strong feeling preference scan for what s right to support it. Couples with personality differences who find ways to support and understand each other often find their relationships especially rewarding. $500 includes 2 tools and debriefing with a coach

A closer look at what we provide ADVANCED MBTI (STEP 2) ASSESSMENT AND DEBRIEF: Workshop A deeper and more robust understanding of personality types, the Advanced MBTI provides information on a person s Step I four-letter type as well as extended results based on the 20 Step II facets that underlie them. The customized report and debrief helps people understand their results on each of the 20 facets, and then applies them to four important components of professional development: communication, change management, decision making, and conflict management. The learner will be able to: Identify the different MBTI personality types and see an integration of the 20 facets Apply insights for enhancing communication and managing change and conflict Construct a collaborative roadmap to improve relations between others Who Should Attend For people who want a deeper understanding of their personality and how it affects their professional development. Cost for an Individual $500 includes tool and debriefing with a coach Cost for an Organization $2500/day + tool cost 50% of the U.S. population is extraverted and 50% is introverted. 71% prefer to receive information through their senses while 29% prefer to focus on patterns and possibilities. 43% prefer to use a logical, systematic approach to decision making while 57% prefer to base decisions on their impact on people and relationships. 59% prefer to schedule and organize in a methodical way with 41% prefer a flexible, spontaneous approach. Implementing MBTI Step II accelerates development by uncovering aspects of personality that can be confusing, providing a basis for concrete action planning.

A closer look at what we provide TEAM MBTI ASSESSMENT AND DEBRIEF: Workshop Maximize team member contributions and effectiveness by providing information on how individuals of each type typically lead, influence others, and contribute to a team, and how they can maximize team performance The learner will be able to: Identify the different MBTI personality types Recognize strengths and weaknesses in you and your team s types Apply insights into the dominant functions of type Identify what happens when stress causes personality issues among the team and how to handle them Construct a collaborative roadmap to improve relations between each other Who Should Attend For teams who want to understand how their personality types affects how they work together. 90% of all US employees work part of their day in a team. A high performance team will typically increase productivity by 30% within months. High performing teams will provide a 34% higher return on assets. High performing teams will provide a 26% higher return on investment. Cost for a Team $2500/day + tool cost A team-based organization will use 34% fewer labor hours to accomplish the same work. The U.S. type distribution data indicates that ISFJ (13.8%), ESFJ (12.3%), ISTJ (11.8%), ISFP (8.8%) and ESTJ (8.7%) are the top type preferences. That makes for some pretty dynamic personalities on a team.

Misconceptions about the MBTI Many people have misconceived notions of the MBTI assessment. We thought, with the help of THE MBTI BLOG s article on some common misconceptions, we could provide you with some of the facts. Misconception #1: The MBTI is a personality test. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is an indicator (or assessment), not a test. The term test assumes that there is a right or wrong answer, or the opportunity to pass or fail. There is no right or wrong personality type. In addition, there is no one best personality type. Misconception #2: I took the Myers-Briggs online last night for free. No, you didn t. Unfortunately you were deceived by someone pretending to have a free version of the MBTI. An MBTI assessment has to be given by a Qualified Practitioner who uses SkillsOne to administer the MBTI. Misconception #3: The MBTI report said I was an ESTJ, but I feel like I am an ISTJ. I guess I am wrong. You have the ultimate final say on your personality type. After all, you are the expert on you! It is okay to question if the report accurately describes you as a whole. No assessment can ask enough questions to explain all of the intricacies of personality, preferences, or behaviors. Misconception #4: Wow! This MBTI thing is cool; I should use it to select new employees. The use of the MBTI in selecting employees is unethical. Again, there is no one right personality type, and every type can function in any role. Misconception #5: I m one of 16 types? I feel more unique than that! That s right! You are not one of 16 types. Within the 16 different types, there are even more individual differences. The MBTI Step II highlights 20 of those differences. Specifically, there are 5 facets that explain differences for each dichotomy. Misconception #6: I found out I m an Introvert, but I m in a sales job. I guess I should find a new career. Remember, the MBTI is about preferences, not ability. While it is true that people typically gravitate towards careers that complement their natural preferences, that does not mean you cannot function in an environment that is out of preference for you. Misconception #7: I had a really high score on Thinking, so I m REALLY good at that! What many people interpret as scores on the MBTI are not indices of ability, skill, or intelligence. Rather, they reflect the clarity with which your answers reflected that preference. Misconception #8: I ve changed my type several times. According to Jung s theory, you do not change type. Type (preferences) is inborn in you and never changes. The best way to understand this is the right hand/left hand example. A right handed person can function left-handed. And over time can become more and more comfortable using their left hand. However, given the chance, they will naturally want to use their right hand. That natural preference towards their right hand will never go away. Misconception #9: My husband doesn t need to take the MBTI, I can guess what his type is. You may have a guess as to what someone s personality type is, but there is a big danger in teaching someone their type based on a guess. What if you are wrong? This may hinder their development rather than promote development. We make assumptions about others preferences constantly, and in many ways we do so in an effort to aid in communication. However, when there is the possibility of taking the actual MBTI, it is necessary to do so. Misconception #10: I hope that my team members all have my personality type, because that would be the best team ever! While that team may have the fewest disagreements, there is danger in wanting to surround yourself with only your type. A diverse group will have a greater likelihood of generating creative, unique results. If there is diversity in type, discussions will be more in-depth because each person approaches a decision differently because of their preferences. Conflict and disagreements should not be a negative thing, if handled with proper constructive communication. A diverse group can generate the most wellthought through results.

Happy customers don t lie. Here s what they have said: Really enjoyed the MBTI workshop and the insight that it provided. Very good approach to MBTI. Learned more about myself and others. Will definitely evaluate team through different lens. Liked the Living MBTI Type Table aspect where we could physically see our personality type as it related to others in the room. Very informative. Great to be aware of personality and leverage strength and be aware of weaknesses. Would like to reproduce the MBTI workshop in my facility. This was an excellent presentation on personalities. Information was well presented and helped understand our personality to grow as a leader. Be a part of your workforce s solution. Order an MBTI Assessment Today!
