2 When You Wish Upon a Star welcomes you to Cycle Live Nottingham 206! We would like to thank you for your support by registering to take part in the Nottingham City Ride on Saturday 25th June 206, helping us to grant over 6,500 Wishes for children living with life threatening illnesses across the UK. Your donations help us to transform the lives of the children and families we work with. Whether it be at the point of entry, obtaining sponsorship, buying refreshments from one of the food stations along the route or dropping your spare change into one of our buckets - every donation big or small brings a seriously ill child s Wish closer to being granted. Whatever the Wish, from meeting a pop star, celebrity or Disney character, to swimming with dolphins, to swapping hospital beds for sleigh rides in the winter wonderland of Lapland on board our Santa Express flight, When You Wish Upon a Star will make that Wish a reality. We believe every child deserves to smile and with your support we can provide time away, giving children and their families something to look forward to through times of uncertainty and often financial as well as emotional strain. Wishes allow the family to put their child s illness on hold as they have fun and create precious memories. Thank you for signing up to take part in the 4th Nottingham City Ride, part of Cycle Live Nottingham. The first three years of Cycle Live have shown that there is an appetite in the city for a cycling festival and we hope that this year will be even better. Last year s City Ride was excellent, helped by it being a lovely day and we re certainly hoping that will be the same again this year. The racing has returned this year but will not start until the City Rides have finished. We hope that you and your family will stick around and watch the exciting action in the afternoon. Once you have passed under the gantry you will be guided via a funnel through the finish marquee. In here you will be presented with your goody bag, medal and a bottle of water before passing into the event village. REGISTRATION Wilford Gr Finish ent The main event car park will be situated on the grass field next to the start line and this is free for you to park in. All cars are parked at the owner s risk. 4 important safety info You must follow the Highway Code at all times and please ensure you follow any additional event instructions (given by signs, commentary or stewards) where they may be given. It is particularly important that you do not race or be seen to act in an inappropriate or inconsiderate manner on the road. It is NOT a race. Should you require assistance either report to the nearest steward or phone one of these event control numbers: Event Control: Route Support: We strongly recommend that you add these numbers to your mobile phone book and keep them with you at all times during the event. Please do not use these numbers for any other reason. If you are involved in or witness a serious accident requiring URGENT medical attention ring 999 first, then the above Route Support number. Please note that there are cut-off times at which the event route, support and marshalling will stand down. If you fall behind this schedule then you can either be transported to the finish or remove your number and hand it to one of the sweep or support personnel and continue along the route unsupported. In the latter instance please note that you will no longer be considered a rider in the event and will not be covered by any element of the support services. If you do drop out at any stage please call to inform us. For more information, telephone in advance of the event. riders code of conduct Participants are reminded that small parts of the Nottingham City Ride take place on public roads, which are not closed to traffic. Therefore Highway Code regulations do apply. The rest of the event takes place on cycle ways, public paths and canal towpaths, including sections of the Big Track. Particpants are reminded that these paths will not be closed to the public so are asked to be considerate to other people using these areas during their ride. Please remain vigilant and take care when passing pedestrians, other cyclists and fishermen.please keep an eye on weather reports and bring appropriate waterproof clothing and/or sunblock. riders are advised to Use a bell to warn others of your presence Carry a spare inner tube, tyre levers, pump and multi-tool Wear a bicycle helmet (Snell, CE or ANSI approved) Make sure that your bike is in good working order Carry PLENTY of drinks and energy food Don t drink any alcohol while taking part in the bike ride If you are worried about your health, check with your doctor prior to the event Wear high factor sun protection Wear appropriate cycling clothing - preferably brightly coloured Bring money in case you need to purchase refreshments or roadside repairs Please remember this is NOT a race the Police, event organisers and marshals may take action against any participants who, in their opinion, are racing or riding carelessly. riders must NOT RACE Be aware of the Highway Code and obey it at all times Ride ideally in single file, but no more than two abreast Stop at all traffic lights and stop signs Slow down when approaching roundabouts and junctions and be prepared to stop. You must give way to other traffic in accordance with the Highway Code Be aware of others around you and not take any sudden actions without warning Obey all instructions given by the stewards, police and other event officials Notify a steward if you spot an accident Act responsibly at all times Not drop litter or damage grass verges by trampling all over them Not deviate from the signed route

6 0.5 RIDE charity challenge The Charity Challenge is back this year. By choosing to take part in this challenge you will be rewarded for different levels of fundraising you achieve. It has never been easier to donate money or fundraise for our official event charity When You Wish Upon a Star: 0 Set up a Just Giving Page for your challenge at the event and allow people to sponsor you online Use the sponsorship form that has been sent to you with this info pack to collect money from people you know. Bring it along to the registration marquee on the day of the event to collect your reward. 2 To take part in the charity challenge all you had to do was select the box during the entry process. If you forgot, no problem. Give us a call and we ll add you into the challenge. Then any money you raise for When You Wish Upon a Star will be eligible for rewards. We are delighted to have When You Wish Upon a Star as our Official Charity partner this year and recipient of the Charity Challenge. When You Wish Upon a Star has a simple mission, to grant the Wishes of children living with a life threatening illness. Wishes range from meeting a famous celebrity to visiting Hogwarts on a special train ride, through to providing a laptop for a child who just wants to keep in touch with their friends whilst in hospital. The charity provides something for the children and their families to look forward to and we re thrilled to be working with them. We hope that you ll all give what you can to help them to continue making a difference.
