1 Communications- Assistant Coordinator (INDIA) ABOUT RESTLESS DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA Young people share a restless determination to address the problems that affect them the most. That s where we come in. At Restless Development, we re proud to be the leading youth-led development agency working in Africa and South Asia demonstrating from the
2 grassroots to the global policy levels that young people can and must play a lead role in development. With 65% is of the population under 25; coupled with high fertility rates, India is one of the youngest countries in the world. We ve been in India for the last thirty years, growing, changing and responding to the most urgent issues facing young Indians. Directly reaching over 138,559 young people across five states last year, it is our young volunteers and youth led networks that lead and deliver transformative change. Over the last 12 months our work has contributed on the ground to: 51, 125 young people accessing sexual reproductive health programmes and services. 26, 298 young people accessing civic participation the constitutional review process. 26,845 young people trained in life skills. Behind the numbers, we re influencing from the local level upwards; taking up the position as the leading expert to government, donors, and civil society on young people. Restless Development has contributed to the National Youth Policy. We have been active participants, both nationally & globally, on campaigning on Action 2015 and pushing for youth friendly SDGs. We are part of SRHR Alliance, has successfully advocated with local panchayats against the practice of child marriage and 6 villages have been declared child marriage free, in a span of 6 months. Coordinator New Delhi INR 579,229 gross per annum which included Employer PF contribution Medical Reimbursement INR 15,000 PA and Mobile allowance as per the policy. Gratuity benefit is also applicable as per organizational policy 1 year, initially, with strong possibility of extension based on performance Head of India Regular in-country travel and occasional international travel. About the role: Communication is a core Unit within the Head Office in Delhi, s/he is responsible for planning, managing and implementing Restless Development India s communication strategies and objectives. S/he r will provide support to the Investment and partnership unit and programme unit by providing quality materials for publicity, campaign, events of Restless Development. S/he will Develop, co-ordinate and implement innovative and effective communications and campaign strategies and events for India country programmes. S/He will be the first point of contact for International communication department and will contribute to feeding the necessary information and materials. S/he will help develop and maintain a learning environment throughout the organisation and will build the capacity of Restless Development India s programme staff.
3 we are looking to hire a dynamic person who will help us to capture and communicate effectively about Restless Development to all our stakeholders. Key Priorities 1. Responsible for planning, managing and implementing Restless Development India s Communication strategies and objectives Develop the Annual Communication Strategy & Plan Ensure that the plan is being implemented Look for innovative ideas to communicate with various stakeholders Establish and maintain good relations with target media contacts, other stakeholder groups including regional offices, Knowledge Activist Hubs, academicians, NGOs, other civil society action groups in order to achieve the campaign, programme and policy objectives in India. Attending partner meetings and representing Restless Development Generate necessary Support and linkages with Restless Development International and other country programmes of Restless Development.. 2. Develop promotional materials for publicity about Restless Development India. Provide necessary support in developing various reports, documents, designing and printing of internal publications, posters, presentations, films etc. for various occasions / meetings. Develop editorial content of communications in line with campaign, programme and policy objectives in order to ensure quality media communications. Keep staff and other stakeholders updated with organization news, develop and design quarterly Newsletter and annual reports. Work with programme team to develop and capture case studies and stories and updates from the field. 3. Develop, co-ordinate and implement innovative campaign strategies and events for India country projects Manage and oversee the work of agencies contracted for the development of communication campaigns / materials, if needed. This includes guiding as well as overseeing aspects related to creative content development / treatment, graphic design/ layout, shooting and post production work. Develop innovative campaign ideas on and around issues of thematic importance to Restless Development in India Guide the production of relevant communication materials - mass as well as interpersonal - to ensure effective and efficient delivery. 4. Develop and roll out result centric social media presence Based on a brief from the programme and concerned staff, identify and undertake the creative development of key messages that need to be included in social media Provide innovative inputs for the development of the Restless Development India website and maintain the India website. Review the social media pages and evaluate the success of the messages and adapt the communication materials Advise programme and concerned staff on the appropriate mix of materials to be developed as per the specific request for the communication and creating prototypes / artworks for the same Support with managing the Restless Development e-warehouse and facilitating the uploading of materials as and when needed, including programme materials

Skills and Experience Essential: Desirable: Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Affairs/Development or related field, or a Master s degree in any subject but with demonstrated equivalent experience in communications. Experience in writing, editing, design, web design management, blogging and new media tools, preferably with an international organization will be an added advantage Ability to read, synthesize information to produce clear, well-written summaries; Basic knowledge of and skills in desktop publishing, HTML, photography and photo editing Excellent communication skills for lobbying and media work or popular mobilization Relevant work experience in the field Experience in field work with the rural communities will be an advantage. Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to implement agreed campaign strategies and plans. This includes convening and leading a campaign project team/s delegating tasks to project team members and leading across advocacy, media, programmes and communications.
