Tests have shown that they can withstand heavy abrasion, electrical resistance and lengthy exposure to chemicals, sunlight, Laminated tape water and extreme temperatures. Brother laminated tapes consist of six layers of materials, resulting in a thin, yet extremely strong label. Characters formed with thermal transfer ink are actually printed onto the underside of the laminate. Sandwiched between two layers of PET (polyester film) creating characters that are virtually indestructible. However, some industries may require additional strength and in this situation Brother offer a stronger adhesive version of the laminated TZ tape. Under tests, strong adhesive tape demonstrates improved adhesion when stuck to varying materials (i.e. stainless steel, glass, PVC, acrylic, polypropylene and polyester-coated wood). (tape on wood)

Non-laminated tapes may offer a more economical option to meet your labelling requirements. Suitable for educational environments, corporate offices and some indoor retail use. Fabric tape is made from cloth of which text can be printed on, this tape Special tapes can then be ironed directly onto fabric offering ideal identification solutions for uniforms and workware. (tape on fabric) Anna Smith/Class IV Iron-on tape This is another ideal solution to labelling fabrics that later need to be identified, such as uniforms and work ware. Iron on tape allows letters to be transferred directly to the fabric. It is applied by the heat of an iron, and a cloth over the tape. Using P-touch laminated labelling technology, Flexi ID tape is made with special material designed for labelling over Special tape acute edges and around cylindrical surfaces. The tapes can be used wrapped or flagged securely around cables, wires, labelling over edges, around hydraulic and electrical connectors and marking tubing. The more advanced P-touch label printers also offer a "Rotate and Repeat" function whereby the text is rotated to appear along the width of your label and then repeated so as to make it clearly visible from all sides, when wrapped around for example wire, pipes, laboratory equipment etc. Step 1. Text is rotated along the width of the label. Step 2. Text is automatically repeated to fill the required label length. Step 3. Label is wrapped around required object and text is visible from all sides.

Dependent on the P-touch machine that you are using, the number of lines that can be printed on each width of tape varies from 1 up to 16 lines of text. Each specific tape width lends itself to useful applications such as 9mm is the width of a CD-ROM case spine and can be used in offices worldwide to quickly identify the information that you need. 9mm is the size of the case spine, but you would really need a 6mm tape to label up the spine. And 36mm tape is the ideal solution for signage and warning tapes.
