3 How do we teach & learn: Problem and Project Based Learning The study programmes are characterized by problem-based group work centered on authentic projects, often solved in cooperation with the business world. This provides graduates with unique competences in teamwork and in working analytically and resultoriented T H E A A L B O R G P B L M O D E L Students are driven by a problem and learn through problem solving Students carry out project work in groups; solving real-life problems Supervisors help, challenge, supervise, discuss and assess their work Students document their progress in a joint project report, which forms the basis for oral examination at the end of each semester.

4 THE BASICS The Danish School system: Secondary Higher Schools Bachelor Degree (Credits: 180 ETCS. Duration: 3 years) Bachelor Degree Master Degree (Credits: 120 ETCS. Duration: 2 years) Master Degree PhD (No credits earned. Duration: 3 years) Recognition tools: ECTS grading scale: 1 ETCS = 37 hours of total workload (e.g. Lectures, lab time, papers, individual study, etc.) Access to course catalogues and curricula for all students, including exchange students) Transcript of records Diploma supplement Academic calendar: September and October: Semester lectures November, December and January: Project work in groups, Christmas break and exams February and March: Semester lectures April, May and June: Project work in groups and exams July and August: Summer break

5 VIIS NOVIS BREAKING NEW GROUND Fields of study offered: AAU offers a wide selection of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a number of areas, including communication, international relations and culture, physics, engineering, chemistry and nanotechnology, economics, innovation and marketing, architecture, design, IT, programming, Law and many more. Languages: Many programmes are offered in Danish although almost all of them contain elements in English as well Even so, AAU offers more than 60 programmes in English, at a very high linguistic level Language certificates accepted: Mainly TOEFL and IELTS How to prepare your AMIDILA project: Find the subject you re interested in don t forget to check with your home university whether your chosen subject is compatible with your home study plan! Fill out the AMIDILA Tentative study plan using the template provided.
