IoT technology is a future internet infrastructure technology where physical things that exist in the real world and virtual things that exist in cyber environment are linked through the internet, that can provide various services through interlinking these physical and virtual spaces. This study will explore the technology trends in imprementing IoT devices such as core technologies device platform, weirless sensor object communication, and network technology, and the basic structure and operation process of smart IoT middleware system IoT-CAS(Internet of Things Devices-Context Awareness Service) designed in this study is suggested. Keywords: Internet of Things, IoT, Device Platform, Wireless Sensor, IoT-CAS 1 Introduction IoT (Internet of Things) is a global infrastructure where objects are connected to internet and through networks interaction happens objects (physical or virtual) to people, and object to object, to combine situation awareness based knowledge to provide intelligent service, and it is predicted to be the core of hyper connected society that is oriented towards openness and sharing by convergence with smart devices, cloud, and big data technology.[1] IoT technology is categorized into device, network, platform, analysis/social business, and application industry services, and IoT devices consist of sensor/actuator, power module, device platform (processor/os), communications module, network, and intelligence technology. 2 IoT based device and platform IoT device operating system is being developed in the form of including data collection and transmission functions based on object-object internet communication function and web protocol, and in the case of sensing devices, it has been developed enough to be commercialized. In future society there is an addition of class called sensing above internet, and it is expected that there will be advent of the 4th IT wave.[2] ISSN: ASTL Copyright 2015 SERSC

2 2.1 Industrial IoT Devices (Internet of Things Devices) In the case of IoT device where reliability is required such as industrial facilities and motor, pump, valve, and tubing of safety equipment, technology such as Wireless HART and ISA100 is being applied. The One Wireless Solution of HoneyWell in Fig. 1 was developed for industrial purposes and it guarantees such things as saving design and construction labor costs, and early production due to construction time decrease, and by applying industry standard protocols such as WiFi and Foundation Fieldbus, inter-device compatibility is excellent.[2][3] Fig. 1. HoneyWell s One Wireless Solution 2.2 Wearable IoT Devices (Wearable Internet of Things Devices) Diverse forms of wearable devices that can provide various IoT services by linking with smart phones are being developed and introduced. For example there are Nike Fuel Band, Fidbit, Jawbone Up, Nisfit Shine, Samsung Gear, and LG Life band Touch. Google is trying to expand search and cloud services by introducing smart glasses Glass, and because this enables video based user data it can lead to smarter development of Google service.[3,4] 3 SVM(Sensor Virtualization Machine) Smart device based Sensor Virtualization Machine that can collect and control various sensor information, when there are objects (devices) that have external sensors such as smart phones and TVs, it automatically searches objects in proximity of the smart device to virtualize the external sensor to control it.[5] Due to this it is possible to make object and sensor devices lighter and more affordable and SVM within smart devices provides Plug& Play connect control function that can easily recognize and control sensor resources within the sensor field on the exterior of smart devices.[6] 14 Copyright 2015 SERSC

3 4 IoT-CAS (Internet of Things - Context Awareness Service) System Configuration IoT-CAS was designed to protect workers from dangerous situations that can occur in industrial sites. Also it is an industrial mobile safety management system that can configure, recognize situations, and intelligently control community of workers coexisting in the ubiquitous- Smart Space (Hereinafter referred to as u-smart space). IoT-CAS is a helmet based operating system that supports IoT based safety incident process through service development and business framework development through convergence object configuration considering industrial characteristics and effective solution establishment for commercialization. 4.1 IoT-CAS Base Environment Through analyzing environmental data collected in the sensor network it guarantees safety of workers by providing escape routes through warning and augmented reality when dangerous situations occur, and it provides access security system using NFC. Main functions include video and sensor information collection, sending through BT and WiFi information to smart belt (or smart phone), a safety helmet form video transmission and processing video and sensor information transmitted from storage device, smart belt (or smart phone) that can mount work operating system for transmission with control center, monitoring industrial safety smart object video in the industrial site, and comprehensive safety control system where module to recognize situations of danger. Through applying H.264 compression technology on the smart helmet the camera performance was expanded, and the helmet was designed applying 3-axis acceleration sensor that is small and has low power consumption. The sensors include CMOS image sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, buzzer output, and LED output, and power uses rechargeable batteries. Fig. 2. Smart Helmet Processing Procedure Copyright 2015 SERSC 15

4 4.2 Smart u-observation System (Smart Ubiquitous-Observation System) Smart Ubiquitous-Observation System can be configured as smart u-sensor node, interface for sensor automatic recognition, reliability test and verification, smart band linking, and smart u-appliance server for smart u-sensor node management. Smart Ubiquitous-Observation System detects abnormal situation occurrence in IoT-CAS base environment to alert the user, and it verifies the result through smart phone application/ web interface, and provides observation service through sensing data recording and analysis. Smart u- Observation System Basic Structure 5 Conclusions In the future Internet of Things, as objects from various IoT fields connect to the network, is predicted to increase to internet connected object number of 26 billion in This paper explored device platform which is core technology for various forms of IoT device implementations such as private, public, industrial and sensor-smart device forms, and suggested basic structure and operation process of smart IoT middleware system IoT-CAS(Internet of Things Devices-Context Awareness Service). As well as applying ICT technology to monitor worker status in real time to manage safety of workers in industrial sites, IoT-CAS supports situation recognition function so that workers can intelligently avoid dangerous situation caused by worker inattention that the worker is unable to respond to. 16 Copyright 2015 SERSC
