2 ensuring consistency of auditing skills is crucial in monitoring the compliance of management systems Organisations around the world, as well as their stakeholders, are becoming increasingly aware of the costs associated with failing to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements. Organisations are subject to greater scrutiny of their compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements by their various stakeholders. The perception of an organisation s compliance performance can influence: its reputation its ability to attract and retain workers and/or members, customers, clients or users the maintenance of employees morale, commitment and productivity the view of investors, donors, sponsors and the financial community, and its relationship with companies, governments, the media, suppliers, peers, customers and the community in which it operates The role of the auditor in monitoring the compliance of management systems is crucial and organisations are increasingly aware of the need to ensure: consistency of performance from auditors auditors have an advanced understanding of the principles of auditing and best practice audit methodologies auditors have advanced knowledge of the standards which apply to various management systems and the legal and regulatory framework in which the organisation must operate Example of interactivity screen SAI Global s NEW online course covers the skills and knowledge required to be an effective Lead Auditor The Online Training course has been built to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for auditing management systems in accordance with the guidelines outlined in ISO 19011:2002 (AS/NZS ISO 19011:2003). This course focuses not only on the core auditing skills but also on communication skills which can help the achieve success in the audit. This course uses a scenario-based approach to explain the complexities of a management system audit. The course is narrated around the central case-study of an integrated risk-based audit of a hospital. Learners will see how each part of the audit is carried out by an audit team under the leadership of a. The online learning course is appropriate for learners if they are potential or practising auditors who lead and/or perform management systems audits in various disciplines, such as quality, OH&S, food safety and environmental. Initially only Modules 1 and 2 will be accessible to the learner, and within these modules, the learner has the freedom of going to any desired topic or screen through the topic menu. 4 The course learning strategy recognises that adults learn best when training is practical and focused The online learning course follows the disciplines of Knowles theory of adult learning (Androgogy) that specifies that adults learn best when training is practical and focused. Knowles theory also states that adults approach a task as problem solving, which can be effectively presented by scenarios and inductive questions. This course uses this method to ensure that the training is effective, interesting and useful. The training applies the following levels of Bloom s Taxonomy: Knowledge Comprehension Application The flow of content, graphics, and high-level interactivities will engage the learner in an immersive learning experience that will facilitate easy assimilation of content, and enhance retention of concepts. Self directed learning allows for time to reflect and develop a deeper understanding of the material This online course is structured so that participants can work as an independent learner at their own pace, in their own environment, utilising the given resources. The online environment is as actionpacked as a classroom environment usually is. The interactivities are strategically placed to give learners immediate feedback on their progress. Learning at their own pace, with time to reflect upon their learning, they will develop a deep understanding of the material, leading to application of concepts and reinforcement of knowledge. The case study approach helps to convey complex theoretical concepts in a simple and immersive way The course presents the learning through an engaging and sophisticated case study that is woven through all modules. This case study is a generic one, using the example of an integrated risk-based audit, so that it covers all disciplines such as quality, OH&S, food safety and environmental audits. In the case study, an imaginary is shown initiating, conducting and evaluating an audit systematically, as per the guidelines outlined in ISO 19011:2002 standard. The course follows her and her team as they go about engaging in discussions with the audit client and auditee, planning for the audit, using various tools to gather and analyse audit findings and then present them to the audit client and auditee. It also follows them in their post-audit activities. The case study method helps to convey complex theoretical concepts in a simple way. It allows learners to reflect on their own situation in the context of others experiences and understand complex situations. This exercise sharpens the learners analytical and diagnostic skills and exposes them to new situations, thus facilitating the creation of new knowledge through reflection, analysis and synthesis. Examples of case study screens 4 For corporate enquiries: Training Services Team phone: training@saiglobal.com
5 Tools and templates are available as printable documents which learners can use a job aids This course will provide learners with various tools such as templates for audit plans, audit reports and auditor competency evaluation records that they will find useful their work. In addition, it also trains learners on how to develop other tools such as checklists, mind-maps, flow charts, and turtle diagrams that will help them prepare for pre-audit planning. These tools and templates are available as printable documents and can be accessed at any time while taking the course. National accreditation with the AQTF and international accreditation with RABQSA means permanent, portable qualifications for life that can improve learners employability This course covers competencies that form part a qualification form the Australian Qualification Framework BSB50607 Diploma of Quality Auditing. These nationally recognised units of competency are as follows: BSBAUD402B Participate in a quality audit BSBAUD501B Initiate a quality audit BSBAUD503B Lead a quality audit BSBAUD504B Report on a quality audit This course also covers the units required for personal certification as an auditor with RABQSA: RABQSA AU Management systems auditing RABQSA TL Leading management systems audit teams The course has both formative and summative assessments Printable documents screen Formative Assessment Besides the various exercises embedded within the course, there are non-scored knowledge check questions at the lesson level. These are designed as formative assessment and feedback for these questions helps in the retention of the concepts content the learners have learnt in the lesson. Summative Assessment The objective of this summative assessment is to evaluate the learners mastery of the concepts they have learnt in the modules. At the end of the three core modules are scored assessments consisting of multiple-choice questions that cover the RABQSA competencies. An optional post-course assessment is also included when the online course is purchased. This post course assessment covers nationally recognised units of competency in the auditing field. Examples of tools and templates screens 5 Pricing and a free demo is available at:
6 Rich graphic media and animation provides an immersive learning experience The graphic environment combines illustration and photographs to recreate an environment in which the case study audit is played out. In addition, a range of icons and info-graphics are employed to give consistency to the imagery used in the course. Example of media screen Interactivities have been designed to engage the learner in the content and for the purpose of application of knowledge Many of the interactivities consist of exercises that stimulate learners to put themselves in the place of the lead auditor and think of a possible solution for a situation. Besides the exercises embedded in the main case study, there are several other smaller scenarios that reinforce the learning by application of recently learned knowledge.
