1 South inton oad Gas ain eplacement Project CTCT Project Information ine: efer to: South inton oad Gas Project ebsite: rge.com/reliabilityprojects PJCT I s part of our commitment to provide safe, reliable service to all our customers, ochester Gas and lectric Corporation (G&), in conjunction with our parent company GI, is updating the delivery system in our service areas. These upgrades comply with new reliability requirements. hile making investments to help reliably meet the community s energy needs, we are working closely with our neighbors to ensure that all improvements are performed with minimal disruption to the environment and the communities we serve. PJCT ging infrastructure and more stringent safety standards have highlighted the need to upgrade gas mains within G& s service territory. This project will replace approximately 1 mile of underground gas main that runs along South inton oad between ewton rive and Palmerston oad. This upgrade project will improve the overall resiliency of the entire system while simultaneously modernizing the pipeline s components. PJCT PUPS IPCT S This project will replace approximately 5,000 feet of outdated gas main infrastructure (circa 1940) with new 16 steel pipe. The impacted project area (green line) runs beneath S. inton d. between Palmerston d. (north) and ewton r. (south). This feeder main serves approximately 500 G& customers and indirectly impacts many more throughout the Town of Brighton and the City of ochester as it is the main feed to other corresponding gas systems in the area. Installing the new gas main under the pavement alongside the existing gas main. nce constructed, the new gas main will be placed into service and the existing gas main will be decommissioned. illing and resurfacing the roadway from Palmerston d. (north) and ewton r. (south). Updating the few customers who are directly connected to this section with updated plastic piping and metering equipment. The replacement downtime required to perform the service upgrade is minimal (just a few hours). s this main is a feeder main, there are very few customers directly connected to the section that is being replaced. BFITS T TH GI The upgraded system will improve the safety and reliability of the entire gas main due to more stringent safety standards in effect as compared to those when the system was initially installed in the late 1940s. Increased reliability will be produced as the potential for gas leaks and inefficiencies are minimized. There are no noticeable above-grade changes or impacts to the construction area and the new gas system will safely provide exceptional service to the community for many years (components have a projected lifespan of up to 100 years).

These upgrades comply with new reliability requirements and will improve the overall resiliency of the entire system while simultaneously modernizing the pipeline s components. The project s scope of work (S) includes replacing approximately 5,000 feet of outdated gas main with new 16-inch steel pipe under the pavement alongside the existing gas main. nce constructed, the new gas main will be placed into service and the existing gas main will be decommissioned. The impacted project area runs beneath South inton oad between Palmerston d. (north) and ewton rive (south) with milling and resurfacing of the affected roadway occurring upon project completion. here is the project? The project will take place in the Twelve Corners region in the Town of Brighton with the construction area running beneath South inton oad between Palmerston oad (north) and ewton rive (south). hy is this project necessary? ging infrastructure and more stringent safety standards have highlighted the need to upgrade gas mains within G& s service territory. These upgrades comply with new reliability requirements and will improve the overall resiliency of the entire system while simultaneously modernizing the pipeline s components. ill the public have an opportunity for input? umerous project meetings have been held with the officials from the Town of Brighton. dditionally, Key Stakeholder and mergency esponder meetings, as well as those with organized neighborhood, business, and community associations have occurred. G& s goal is to provide ongoing and transparent information to all customers and impacted residents throughout the duration of the construction process. e value your input and, as a committed community partner, are eager to collaborate with you on this project. hat are the benefits of the project? The South inton oad eplacement Project will upgrade the comprehensive gas infrastructure and will likewise improve the safety and reliability of the entire gas main due to more stringent safety standards in effect as compared to those when the system was initially installed in the late 1940s. dditionally, Increased reliability will be produced as the potential for gas leaks and inefficiencies are minimized. Upon completion of the project, there will be no noticeable above-grade changes or impacts to the construction area. Please refer to the project s fact sheet for additional information: rge.com/reliability projects/gas Projects How will this project affect me? hile making investments to meet the community s growing energy needs, we are working closely with our neighbors to ensure that all improvements are performed with minimal disruption to the environment and the communities we serve. hile actual work hours may need to be flexible at times due to the weather and other variable factors, the regularly scheduled work hours will be onday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m., with some Saturday work from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. ane closures will be necessary in the immediate 12 Corners area between the hours of 9 a.m. 2 p.m. The intermittent delivery of equipment and the activity of construction vehicles may add to minor and temporary traffic challenges at certain times. ur project team will work proactively to minimize any inconvenience to the area including adjacent residents and local businesses. 4 hat happened to the night work part of the project that was initially suggested? lthough initially planned to minimize disruptions to the already congested traffic flow in the area, further discussion with the Town of Brighton and its residents revealed concerns about additional inconvenience (noise) to nearby residents. In order to mitigate the impact of the project to adjacent residents, it was decided to eliminate nightwork from this project. hen will work begin and how long will it continue? Initial Field ork in the area has already been completed. Construction is scheduled to begin pril 18, 2022 and is expected to take approximately 8 months to complete. Final restoration and resurfacing of the roadway will occur as the season allows. If weather prevents that from occurring in 2022, all final restoration work will be completed in the Spring of Bearing in mind that supply chain, weather, and personnel components are dynamic, these timeframes are subject to change. ill I be notified about construction near my house or business? es.
