1 2017 Arkansas Youth SAMPLE Bible Drill CYCLE 3 - GREEN This SAMPLE Drill has been prepared to: - assist leaders in seeing how a drill is conducted - guide leaders in preparing drills for practice - use with youth in practice sessions Guidelines for using Sample Drill: 1. Become familiar with the rules for Youth Bible Drill. Refer to the Bible Drill Manual Updated June 2016 at This will provide a better understanding for the way the drill is conducted. 2. Enlist someone to assist when calling a drill to catch mistakes the youth make. It can be difficult for a conductor to spot them. 3. Note the "Alternate Calls" in each drill section. These can be used to vary the drill, or they may be used when the caller makes a mistake in calling. 4. Practice with no more than 12 participants per drill. A larger number than this makes it difficult to properly assist each youth in correcting his mistakes. 5. Have the caller stand about feet in front of the participants to allow for better visibility and to encourage the youth to speak out. 6. Material in the GREEN BOLD FACE is read aloud by the caller. The Black type is the response given by the participant. 7. Call on different youth. Don't go down the line as this will tend to make them over-anxious or nervous since they would know when they will be called upon to respond. Neither should you always call upon the first youth who steps out.

2 2017 SAMPLE Youth Bible Drill I. The Book Drill Attention: We will now have the BOOK DRILL. I will give the name of a book in the Bible and you will find the book. Place your index finger on any verse in the book named. When called upon, you will say the book before the one named, you will say the book named, and the book that follows. 3 II. Scripture Searching Drill Attention: We will now have the SCRIPTURE SEARCHING DRILL. I will state a scripture reference for you to find. Place your index finger on that verse and step forward. If called upon, read the verse and the reference. Attention - Present Bibles - ( scripture reference ) Start (Note: Say this command before each call.) 5 III. Identifying Verses Drill Attention: We will now have the IDENTIFYING VERSES DRILL. I will quote a portion of a verse of scripture. Place your index finger on that verse and step forward. When called upon read the verse and state the reference. The first phrase I give you will be the King James and the second will be the Holman. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:4-5 (KJV) Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart s desires. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act. 7 IV. Doctrinal Drill Attention: We will now have the DOCTRINAL DRILL. I will give you a doctrinal statement. You will find the appropriate scripture verse (only one reference is required, though more than one may be used under a particular doctrine). Place your index finger on the verse, step forward and be prepared to give the doctrinal statement, read the verse and state the reference. Attention Present Bibles Last Things - Start Last Things For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. 9 V. Bible Answers Drill Attention: The last drill is the BIBLE ANSWERS DRILL. I will ask you a question. You will locate the verse that answers that question, place your index finger on that verse, step forward and be prepared to quote the question and the verse from memory and give the reference. I will instruct all of you to close your Bibles before I call on one of you to recite. Attention Present Bibles What should I seek? - Start What should I seek? But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) What should I seek?
