1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Department/Division: Reports to: Hours of Work: Location: Staff reports: Job Purpose: Dimensions: PR and Marketing Executive Members, Arts and Media Marketing and PR Manager 37.5 hours per week, Monday Friday RHS Garden Wisley None Support the delivery of RHS Garden Wisley s visitor number targets by working with the Marketing and PR Manager to deliver the marketing and PR plan. Write press releases, liaise with journalists. Work closely with central marketing and PR colleagues, on-site operational teams and external partners. Deliver marketing collateral, create compelling and engaging content for use online and in print. Accountabilities: 1. Manage day to day media relations for RHS Garden Wisley, through writing press releases, liaising with journalists, responding to press enquiries, and organising press events such as photocalls. 2. Assist the Wisley Marketing and PR Manager in creating other PR opportunities to generate coverage in print and broadcast media and online through blogs and social media. 3. Handle media requests and dealing with media visits on-site to facilitate PR exposure of Wisley. 4. Deliver social media activity for Wisley, across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media sites. Constantly look for new and interesting pictures and stories to engage with our followers and upload
2 these to our social media platforms. Monitor content and co-ordinate responses from relevant Wisley departments for Trip Advisor. 5. Co-ordinate the Wisley pages of rhs.org.uk. Monitor the website to ensure information supplied by all Wisley departments is up-to-date and accurate. Using the content management system write and upload inspirational copy and images for garden features, events and other aspects of the garden. Monitor traffic levels using Google Analytics and report to the Marketing and PR Manager. 6. Under the direction of the Wisley Marketing Manager deliver on-brand, compelling and accurate marketing collateral to support the RHS Garden Wisley Marketing and PR plan. Co-ordinate all departments within Wisley to provide information on schedule, write content, source images, proof read and liaise with the Print Services department. Liaise with the design agencies, internal brand colleagues and the print services department. 7. With the support of the Wisley Marketing Manager, create and deliver marketing plans for small campaigns throughout the year, using PR, local community channels, online, on-site and Member communications. 8. Liaise with the media agency and design agencies to ensure all ads are delivered on schedule and to correct specification. 9. Work closely with other departments in the Garden to gather content for social media or PR opportunities. 10. Deliver engaging Wisley content to colleagues within the Members, Arts and Media division for use in newsletters, member communications, show guides, annual Handbooks, etc. 11. Co-ordinate on-site marketing in the Garden, ensuring that all promotional material is featured in the right place and time in line with the marketing plan. 12. Ensure that all RHS financial procedures and recordings are adhered to for the projects you are responsible for. 13. Support the Marketing Manager in other areas of delivery of the marketing plan including market and competitor research, attending site meetings and obtaining relevant PR statistics. 14. To ensure own safety, and the safety of others who may be affected by your actions. Employees must follow instructions and co-operate at all times with their line manager to enable the RHS to meet its legal responsibilities. Employees must stop work if the nature of the situation involves risk of serious injury to any person and must report any hazardous situation or defective equipment to their line manager without delay.

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION PR and Marketing Executive, Wisley KNOWLEDGE 1. Marketing/ PR degree or professional qualification 2. Understanding of writing press releases, for the web and social media 3. Understanding of reading marketing and PR plans 4. Understanding of creating marketing collateral 5. Understanding of PR: Knowledge and understanding of the media DESIRABLE: 6. Knowledge and understanding of gardening 7. Empathy with the RHS mission and charitable remit EXPERIENCE 8. Experience of delivering PR campaigns, including writing press releases, liaising with journalists and photographers, managing photocalls. 9. Experience in a media or PR environment 10. Experience of working on social media campaigns with demonstrable response 11. Experience of delivering consumer marketing campaigns including developing creative, liaising with design and media agencies and working with internal departments. 12.
