I plan to be in Bonners Ferry this summer taking care of mining interests at the Buckhorn mine and checking the road for maintenance and brushing. The mine put the road in and v.e have maintained it ever since. From my past geological V«>!i( I have found indications Of t'ml possibte ore veins 0n Buckhorn Ridge south of The Scout. These are not on my c1aims. I will need to dig t'mj to four short trendies, eacn not more than ten feet long. These are on top or nearly on top of the ridge so the overburden v.ould be shallow. If there is any indication of veins in the bedrock then I'll take samples. The trenches will then be filled. It is my intent if possibte to go into that area with a couple of ethers to hefp me, _by helio::>pter. If a heiiccpter cannot be made available then 1 won't plan on going. There will be very little disturbance to the ground and I plan to leave it as I found it I'm quite consenative and don't believe in littering so the area will be left as pristine as when we arrive. The enclosed copy of Lina Point topographical map indic:ates the locations. I r;efer to the peak there as Causton Peak. There's a story about that Ytt'lich I vi.terrt go into now. John Monks has accepted that and used that title in his geological ~ with me. For further identification I also refer to that low area through the ridge as the Scout Saddle.
