1 LEAGUE RULES 1. Time of Games --- Time of games will be 8:45 10:15 and possibly 12:00 there will be a 15 minute grace period for only the first games played. Any team not on the field by 9:00 will automatically forfeit. 6 Players is minimum number of players required to play. All other game time is forfeit time. 2. Regulation time of Play ---- Games will consist of two 40- minute halves. There will be a two minute warning before half and at the end of game. Referee whistle will begin 2 minutes. Clock will stop at end of half and at the end of game for incomplete passes and player out of bounds. 3. Half time and Start of Second Half ---- There will be a half time. There must always be a stoppage of play at the end of the first 40 minutes. A kickoff will begin the second half. Teams will switch sides at the beginning of second half. 4. Slaughter Rule ---- If a team is winning by 28 points or more with 20 minutes left or 17 points or more with 2 minutes left to play the game is over. 5. Time Outs and Play Clock ---- Each team is allowed three 30 second time outs per half. Play will start at the snap of the ball. There will be a 30 second play clock Failure to snap the ball within this time frame will result in a 5 yard penalty. Clock will begin at the placement of the ball by referee. 6. Punts ---- Before Punting the ball the punting team must declare or don't declare. If they declare, the punt is a free kick. No one can leave the line until the punt is kicked. If they don't declare the offense can fake the punt and the defense can rush the punt. When rushing on a punt or field goal if the defense runs into the kicker it is a 5 yard penalty and repeat the down. Roughing the kicker is a 10 yard penalty and a first down. If the ball is blocked the defense can advance the ball if ball does not hit the ground. If

2 ball does hit the ground it is a dead ball. Punter must be 3 yards back of center. Punter has 5 sec to punt ball. 7. Overtime ---- Teams will flip a coin to determine possession at the beginning of any overtime period. Overtime will follow NCAA Guidelines. Each team will begin possession at the opponent's 20-yard line and have four attempts to score. There will be no first down. Overtime is match play: The team who has the ball second has one possession to match or beat the result of their opponent's first drive. If the score is matched, play will continue, if it is beaten or there is a failure to score, the game is over. Must go for extra point after you score. The DEFENSE cannot score in overtimeturnovers will result only in a change of possession. 8. Sportsmanship ---- Captains are responsible for the conduct by their players and fans. Unsportsmanlike conduct by captains, players and/or Fans may result in an ejection from the current game and grounds. If you get ejected the board will review and determine the lenght of the suspension. The following constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct: FIGHTING: Anyone throwing a punch, or any form of assault, as defined as harm to another player (i.e. any player who throws a punch, kick, elbow, knee, head butt, or any other physical blow towards another player) is ejected from the game and is suspended for a minimum of 12 games and a $ fine must be paid before the player returns to play. If player does not return, the team must pay the fine. Captains must control their players, sidelines, and fans. 9. Team uniforms and Equipment ---- Teams are required to have the same basic color jersey with numbers on the front and or back Pants must contrast color of flags. Jersey's must be tucked in at all times and shall not at any given point during a game cover any portion of the flag belt. Half cut Jerseys shall not extend pat the waistline nor cover any portion of the flag belt. Baseball Cleats of any sort are not permissible. Each Player shall wear Triple Threat Flags (Flag A Tag) Ball must be NFL regulation size

3 10. Rosters and Scorecards ---- All the teams are responsible for handing in a score card to the Referee before the game begins. All players must play in a third of the regular season games to be eligible in the playoffs. Rosters must be handed in at the First game and are final after third game. No more than 30 players on rosters. 11. Basic Northfield football Rules ---- There is a 15 minute grace period from the start of the game- any team not on the field and ready to kick off fifteen minutes after scheduled time (only first game) will automatically forfeit. Must have at least 6 players to start the game and a $30.00 forfeit fee before next game. Touchdown is 6 points extra point from five yard is 1 point and from 10 yard is 2 points same if you kick. One hand touch if flags fall off. If player doesn't have flags on before snap it is a 5 yard penalty. If player ties or adjusts flag in any way so they cannot be removed he is suspended for 3 Games. Any hit to head is a personal foul. Two personal fouls by the same player he is ejected from that game and will be suspended.( even if it is done accidental) Any player going for the knees is a personal foul there will be a 10 yard penalty. If the player repeats the foul he will be ejected from game and suspended with a $50.00 fine Ongoing problems with players and/ or teams may result in suspension or expulsion from participation in league. No defensive player may line up over the center. Lining up over the center defined as any part of the defenders body may not be inside the center shoulders, or within two yards in front of his shoulders. Coin flip starts the game and overtime.

4 Touchdown = 6 points Ball must cross the plain. No roll or blocking below the waist. It will be a personal foul (10 yard penalty and automatic first down) One bump within 5 yards, no carrying with a bump. Illegal contact down field is a 10 yard penalty, and repeat down Kickoffs are from 40 yard line. Ball kicked out of bounds is placed at 40 yard line or where ball went out of bounds. Ball must be snapped between center legs. Ball is dead on snap to quarterback if ball hits ground. Snap on punts and field goals if hits the ground the ball is also dead. Ball is dead at all times if it goes off any player and hits the ground First downs are every cone 20 yards. Two feet in bounds for a completion. The lines and cones are out of bounds. Penalties Pass interference on defense is a 15 yard penalty and an automatic first down. Offensive pass interference = 10 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage, repeat the down. Holding is a 10 yard penalty; down goes over. (Offense or Defensive) Off-sides on offense or defense is a dead play No blocking in the back at all! 10 yard penalty. No going for the quarterbacks arm when in motion. Five yard penalty (even if it is an accident). Referee discretion. Roughing the passer is a 10 yard penalty and a first down. If repeated by

5 the same person, he will be ejected. Shoving: At the end of play if a player shoves or pushes another player he is ejected from that game and could be suspended for the next game. Captains must report player to Mike at the end of game and name will be on message board. Running into the kicker on punts and field goals is a 5 yard penalty Rougher kicker is 10 yards and automatic first down. Any dispute among your own team will be not be handled by the league. This is a team matter. Intentional Grounding. At no time during the contest may any player intentionally ground the ball during play in order to avoid a deflag from an opposing player, which would result in a loss of yardage. Any player, in what seems to be definite danger of being sacked, must make an obviously-honest attempt to complete a pass to a teammate. An obvious and honest attempt to complete a pass will be defined by the ball either: traveling past line of scrimmage or striking the ground within a reasonable catching distance of one of the passers teammates. Penalty for Intentional Grounding will be as follows: 1. The ball will be spotted where the penalty occurred: where the player who intentionally grounded the ball stood, as he intentionally grounded the ball. 2. There will be a loss of down. There will be no jumping by an offensive player, to advance the ball, unless you are jumping over a player to avoid injury. An offensive player can jump backward or sideways to avoid being deflagged. The player with the ball can spin but the ball must be above the waist. Holding below the waist is considered flag guarding. If you tackle a player it is a 10 yard penalty. From the spot of the tackle The kicking team may on side the kick but it is only a live ball, if

6 the ball does not hit a player and the ground. The ball must go 10 yards. The receiving team only needs to bat the ball down for ball to be dead. The kicking team can advance the ball as long as the ball travels 10 yards, and the player gains positions and the ball, or a knee does not hit the ground. A defender must always attempt to grab a flag no pushing or hitting out of bounds. No lowering of Shoulder on either side of ball. Pass interference on defense is a 15-yard penalty and automatic first down. In the red zone the ball is placed half the distance to the goal. Offensive interference is a 10 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage. Repeat down. No tackling 10 yard penalty from the spot of the tackle. If the same player tackles a second time he is ejected and could be suspended. Flag guarding is a 10 yard penalty and a loss of down.

7 Lowering of the shoulder is a 10 yard penalty If a player ties his flags, he is ejected from that game also suspended for one game. 10 yard penalty on the team he plays for. An official will not take any abuse. If any player curses or gives the official any trouble it will be a 10 yard penalty. Any abuse given to an official before, after, or during a game will result in a minimum of a suspension and minimum of a $50 FINE. Upon decision of the board. This fine is to be paid before the next game that the player is eligible. If the player does not return, then the team is responsible for the fine and the team will not play until the fine is paid. At all times players must have flags on when they are on the field. Whether playing on defense or just on special teams. 10 yard penalty Two personal fouls from the sideline is a forfeit. If a player comes on the field from the sideline during any altercation he is suspended. On a punt or field goal attempt the defense cannot rush the A gap. A gap is the space between the center and the 2 guards. 5 yard penalty and down over. Unless Lineman vacate the gap. Cannot hit Center. If a player is on the verge of scoring and there is one player left to prevent the touchdown he needs to make an attempt to grab the flags. If he tackles or pushes out of bounds, the ball is spotted half the distance to the goal line Any player kicked out of a game will be reviewed to determine how many games he will be suspended for. The player with the ball is down when he hits the ground. If he tries to keep his balance and only his hand hits the ground he can
