3 The TOWNGATE Theatre a venue for all occasions Situated in the heart of Basildon Town Centre, the Towngate Theatre is ideally located and provides a high quality venue with excellent road and rail links from London and the South East. Following our recent refurbishment of the theatre s front of house and function facilities, we are able to provide an excellent venue for all occasions. The theatre has a main auditorium, a studio theatre, a function room, meeting rooms, restaurant, cafe and two large foyers that can accommodate a variety of activities and requirements including: Conferences Exhibitions Presentations Meetings Workshops The Towngate Theatre is a unique venue providing a flexible setting for a wide range of corporate events and social functions and we already cater for a wide range of business meetings and functions which makes our venue the most ideal place to hold an event. Our modern facilities are available for hire 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

4 Main Auditorium The theatre s auditorium is a flexible space with 548 seats and can accommodate music events, conferences, film screenings, seminars and presentations to large audiences. Our technical team are able to provide sound and lighting services to ensure your event is delivered professionally and is of the highest quality. The auditorium can also be configured without seating and can accommodate exhibitions as well as cabaret style functions. Capacity: Theatre Seating 548 Flat Floor (Exhibition) 775 Cabaret Style Seated 200 Mirren Studio The Mirren Studio which has 188 seats is a a very flexible space and is an ideal location for smaller performances or presentations. 5 Meeting and reception rooms The theatre has a number of rooms which are available for meetings, conferences, workshops or as reception areas for larger events in the auditorium. This modern space can be transformed to host a range of functions from weddings to award ceremonies and charity and business events and is serviced by its own bar. 6 The Foyers The large foyers at the theatre are available to showcase your business or organisation through exhibitions, open days, receptions and workshops. UPPER Foyer (1st Floor) Capacity: 180 The Upper Foyer overlooks St Martin s Square and can be hired in conjunction with the Gielgud Room to create an excellent space for social and business use.

7 Ground Floor Foyer Capacity: 150 The ground floor foyer is an excellent reception and exhibition space, which leads into the theatre cafe bar.

8 Board Room The Towngate Theatre Café Bar provides an excellent venue for ad-hoc meetings or a place to meet for lunch. With a full menu of hot and cold meals as well as top quality coffee and tea, the Café is an ideal place to relax and enjoy good food and great coffee. Olivier Room Catering for events As well as providing great food in our Café Bar, we also cater for events including parties and conferences. Our catering staff are able to provide excellent, freshly prepared food including buffets, hot meals and homemade cakes to meet your requirements. 9 HIRER INFORMATION Public transport The Towngate Theatre is a few minutes walk from the main rail and bus stations in Basildon, enabling easy access to the theatre using public transport. Parking Car parks are available at the Westgate Shopping Park, Great Oaks Mutli-Storey, Eastgate Shopping Centre (Basildon Town Centre) and various locations which are a short distance from the theatre.. Wi-Fi The Towngate Theatre has open access Wi-Fi which covers the vast majority of the building. Any additional ICT requirements can be discussed at the time of booking. Licences The Towngate Theatre is fully licensed both for the sale of alcohol, and for entertainment, including plays, films, live music, recorded music and dance. Non-smoking venue The Towngate Theatre is a non-smoking venue and this policy applies to all balcony and courtyard spaces. Box Office The theatre Box Office can provide full administration support to assist you when hiring our venue. Our box office is open daily and is able to process and distribute tickets to those attending your event if required; in addition we also have a 24-hour online sales facility for tickets. Access to the theatre for people with disabilities The Towngate Theatre is fully accessible to people with disabilities. Technical support Our experienced in-house technical team are here to provide for your technical requirements, whether you are organising an awards ceremony, presentation or your annual AGM. Our technical team will advise you on how to get the best from our venue, whatever size event you are running. Equipment for meetings/ conferences A range of equipment is available to meet the needs of your event. These include projectors, screens, flip-charts, PA systems and microphones which are all available to hire for your meetings or functions.
