1 Monthly update of MTR facilities for passengers with disabilities September Ma On Shan Line The installation of Automatic Platform Gates at Ma On Shan Line has commenced at Tai Wai Station in November It is planned to complete the installation at all 9 Ma On Shan Line stations by Nam Cheong Station To cope with the West Rail Nam Cheong Station Property Development, Entrance D2 was closed in the period from September 2012 until December Diamond Hill Station To facilitate Shatin Central Link modification works, the Braille map has been suspended for revision. The project is targeted to complete by February Hung Hom Station To facilitate Shatin Central Link modification works, the modification of the tactile guide paths at concourse level was started in August The project is targeted to complete by end Kowloon Tong Station To facilitate the Lift replacement and Entry/Exit Gates relocation works at Northern Concourse, the tactile guide paths will be modified and the Braille Map has been suspended for modification. The project is targeted to complete by December Mong Kok Station To facilitate station upgrading works at concourse, the modification of tactile guide paths at concourse and platform level was commenced. The project is targeted to complete by July Prince Edward Station To cope with the lift replacement works, accessible car shuttling between Prince Edward Station and nearby stations with public lifts is serving wheelchair passengers as alternative means of access starting from 20 April Wheelchair passengers can phone duty Station Controller at City Line No for making arrangement upon arrival at Prince Edward Station. The expected waiting time of the accessible car service is not less than 30 minutes. The project is targeted to be completed by end of October Sheung Shui Station The replacement works of the lift in platform 2 was started from 4 May The lift connecting concourse and platform 1 remains in service. Wheelchair passengers could use Entrance/Exit D to enter or exit from Platform 2. The project is targeted to be completed by early November 2016.

Tsing Yi Station From 2 September 2016, the lift connecting the Tung Chung Line Concourse with Platform 4 (Tung Chung Line towards Hong Kong) and Platform 3 (Tung Chung Line towards Tung Chung/Disneyland Resort Line) in Tsing Yi Station will not be in use while a major overhaul is carried out. The project is targeted to complete by mid- October Kowloon Bay Station To cope with the lift replacement works, accessible car shuttling between Kowloon Bay Station and the nearby stations with public lifts will be serving wheelchair passengers as alternative means of access starting from 30 May Wheelchair passengers can phone duty Station Controller at City Line No for making arrangement upon arrival at Kowloon Bay Station. The expected waiting time of the accessible car service is not less than 30 minutes. The project is targeted to be completed by end of December Tai Po Market Station Upon completion of the concourse improvement works, the concerned tactile guide path has been modified and the braille has been revised at mid-august 2016 and put to use. To cope with the lift refurbishment works, accessible car service will be serving wheelchair passengers as alternative means to convey wheelchair passenger to Tai Wo Station starting from 1 Sep Wheelchair passengers can phone duty Station Controller at City Line No for making arrangement upon arrival at Tai Po Market Station. The expected waiting time of the accessible car service is not less than 30 minutes. The project is targeted to be completed by early October Tsuen Wan West Station To facilitate the development of property outside the station, Exit C was closed in the period from 29 December 2015 until the end of The existing barrier free facilities will not be affected. 13. Kowloon Bay Station To facilitate the Customer Service Centre and Entry/Exit Gates relocation works at Concourse, the tactile guide paths will be modified and the Braille map has been suspended. The project is targeted to complete by 1 st Quarter of Hong Kong Station From 2 August 2016, two of the lifts connecting the In-town Check-in level with IFC mall in Hong Kong Station will be taken out of service, one at a time while a major overhaul is carried out. The project is targeted to complete by mid-october 2016.

Tsim Sha Tsui Station To cope with the construction of Tsim Sha Tsui Carnarvon Road subway, Entrance D2 was closed in the period from July 2016 until December East Rail Line To facilitate future Shatin to Central Link operation, the tactile guide paths on all East Rail Line platform will be modified to suit the new train door centre. Because of the layout design and the location of pillars and corners other passengers might not see you or be aware of your presence ahead of time and may not be able to move quickly out of your path. Please could we ask that you travel at a speed equivalent to a walking pace inside the stations especially on the platforms.
4 On trains Because of space constraints, only one electric or two manual wheelchairs may board each carriage of the train into the multi-purpose area. The staff assisted portable ramp service can be provided upon request into the multi-purpose area of the front carriage. Assisted boarding of one wheelchair is arranged per train. However subject to the prevailing condition, wheelchair users are welcome to board the train without staff assistance through the 3 rd door of any of the other train cars. 5 MTR Facilities for Passengers with Disabilities New and improved facilities mean better service for all our customers We are striving to improve access and facilities for all our passengers - not only those with disabilities, but the elderly, people traveling with babies or small children, and those who need step-free access. We are making improvements to many of our existing stations, and all our future lines will incorporate easy access facilities. Facilities for Visually Impaired Passengers TACTILE GUIDE PATHS are installed at all stations and Light Rail Stops. MODIFICATION OF OBSTRUCTIONS such as litter bins, payphones and fare maps making them more easily detectable to cane users has been completed in all stations. ESCALATOR AUDIBLE WARNING SIGNALS are installed in all stations to help passengers locate escalators at platform and/or concourse level, and identify the running direction of the escalator. PLATFORM TACTILE YELLOW LINES are installed in all stations without Platform Screen Doors. An AUDIBLE DEVICE in the entry gate that is reached by the tactile guide path for providing "please enter" message are installed in all stations. BRAILLE plates have been installed on Ticket Issuing Machines (not Light Rail) and Add Value Machines, and in public toilets, lifts in certain stations and Platform Card Processors at Light Rail stops. COLOUR CONTRAST GRAB POLES are provided inside the compartments of trains. A BUZZER sounds when the train door is closing. COLOUR CONTRAST INTER-CAR BARRIERS are fitted between train carriages to prevent passengers stepping on to the track between train carriages.
6 Facilities for Hearing Impaired Passengers INDUCTION LOOPS to assist hearing aid users are installed at all Customer Service Centres, Ticket Offices and selected payphones. INFORMATION CARDS to facilitate communication between staff and passengers are available at all Customer Service Centers (except Light Rail stops). PASSENGER INFORMATION DISPLAY SYSTEMS are installed at the entrances, concourses and platforms of stations. FLASHING SYSTEM MAPS showing the location and direction of the train are installed on trains on Island Line, Kwun Tong Line, Tseung Kwan O Line and Tsuen Wan Line. ACTIVE LINE DIAGRAMS are installed in Airport Express and Tung Chung Line trains. ON TRAIN INFORMATION INFOPANELS display next station information and operational messages in the following trains: East Rail Line, Island Line, Kwun Tong Line, Ma On Shan Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Tsuen Wan Line and Light Rail. LCD INFOPANELS display next station information and operational messages in the following trains: Airport Express Line. NEWSLINE EXPRESS screens display the next station and operational messages in the following trains: East Rail Line, Ma On Shan Line and West Rail Line. Facilities for Mobility Impaired Passengers MULTI-PUEPOSE SPACES are provided in all trains. WIDE GATES allowing wheelchair users and passengers with baby prams / baggage to pass into or out of the paid area without staff assistance are provided at all stations. PORTABLE RAMPS allowing wheelchair users to move easily between the platform and train are provided at all stations (except Light Rail stops).
