4 Kindle Fire Settings You can access this menu by swiping down from the top of the screen beginning near the clock Tap to lock or unlock screen rotation Volume- adjust by sliding bar left and right Brightness- adjust by sliding bar left and right Wireless- will display available wireless networks as well as bluetooth and airplane mode Sync- syncs Kindle with your Amazon account More - additional settings including Help, My Account, Parental Controls, etc.

5 More Settings Setting Heading Help & Feedback My Account Function User Guide and Customer Service Information about the Amazon account to which your Kindle is registered Parental Controls Sounds and Display/Notifications Device Location based services Language and keyboard Security Restrict purchasing, content type and create time limits Choose your notification sound and volume to alert you to incoming messages, etc. Date and time, battery life and information about your Kindle and its operating system Enable or disable Location Services which use a Wi-Fi connection to determine your location Adjusts language and keyboard setting including auto-correct, auto capitalization, word prediction Turn on and off password protections when you lock your screen

8 Carousel Apps or items you have downloaded to your Kindle and have recently accessed. The items featured in the Carousel will change depending on what you have recently viewed/launched. To delete or remove items: long tap the icon you want to remove and choose Remove from Carousel, or Remove from Device (will delete the app completely)

9 Favorites Can be accessed by tapping the star in the bottom right corner of screen Apps or items can be added or deleted by long tapping the icon

10 Downloading Apps Home Screen > Apps Tap Store Search or browse for the desired app To see more info about the app simply tap the icon To purchase the app tap the orange button indicating the cost of the app (many are free) Then tap the green Get App button

11 Using Apps Apps can be launched from the App library (Home>Apps) or from the Carousel if you ve recently opened the app You can also add an app to your favorites for easy access by long tapping the app icon in the app library and choosing add to favorites

12 Deleting Apps Removing an app from your device is not the same as permanently deleting it from your Amazon Kindle Account. To remove an app from your device: Find the app in the App library, long tap the icon and choose Remove from Device To delete it permanently: Access your amazon account online and click Android Devices and Apps, locate the app

13 Browsing the Web Silk: Internet Browser Similar to other web browsers- with a search function, tabbed browsing (more than one page open at a time) and address bar. Silk allows you to bookmark your favorite webpages, go full screen and zoom in on pages using the pinch and zoom gesture.

15 Bookmarking a Page With the webpage open: Tap the Bookmark icon next to the address bar or in other versions tap the lower menu and choose Add Bookmark. Silk will name the bookmark or you may choose to edit the name, then click ok.
