4 Use themes PowerPoint provides a variety of design themes, including coordinating color schemes, backgrounds, font styles, and placement of placeholders. Using pre-designed themes makes it easy for you to change the look of your presentation quickly. Change slide size Select any slide thumbnail of the presentation From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Page Setup click Slide Size choose a desire slide size that the presentation might be displayed on, or click on Page Setup to customize the size Apply a theme to a presentation Select any slide thumbnail of the presentation From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Themes move the mouse pointer hover the any theme thumbnail in the Presentation Themes Gallery and click the to expand the gallery Click on a desired theme to apply to all the slides in the presentation Lasted Edited:

5 Change the color, font or effects of a theme From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Themes Options Do the following to change the color, font and effect scheme of a theme Click Colors button to change the color set Click Fonts button to change the font set Click Background button to change the background style set Lasted Edited:

6 Save a custom theme A theme is a combination of one or more slide layouts with coordinating colors, a matching background, fonts, and effects. PowerPoint provides several standard themes. Find a standard theme that you like, and then modify it by changing the colors, fonts, or the background. You can then save the file as a custom theme. Once you create a custom theme in PowerPoint, you can use it in other Office applications From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Themes click the down arrow on Save Themes button choose Save Theme Do the following: In the Save As box, type the name of the custom theme in the Save As box In Where list down arrow, choose My Themes folder In Format list down arrow, choose Office Theme (.thmx) Click Save button The custom theme will display under Custom group in the Presentation Themes Gallery Lasted Edited:

7 Change background Every theme includes a background. The background can be plain white, a solid or gradient color fill, a texture or pattern fill, or a picture. When you change to a different theme, the background is replaced. Background colors are defined by theme colors. Therefore, if you change the theme color scheme, PowerPoint updates the background to reflect the new theme colors. If you like a particular theme with its color scheme and fonts, but you want a different background, you can quickly apply a different background to all slides or to a selection of one or more slides. Select any slide thumbnail of the presentation From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Themes move the mouse pointer hover the any theme thumbnail in the Presentation Themes Gallery and click the to expand the gallery select a theme thumbnail named White under Built-in group From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Themes Options click Background Do one of the following: Select a desired background preset Click Format Background Lasted Edited:

8 If you select Format Background, the Format Background dialog box displays. Do any of the following: Use the formatting control in the dialog box to edit the background Do one of the following: Click Apply to apply the background to only the selected slide Click Apply to All button to apply the background to all the slides in the presentation Lasted Edited:

9 Design slides Select any slide thumbnail of the presentation Do one of the following: From the Ribbon, click Themes tab Page Setup click Slide Size choose a desire click on Page Setup to customize the size From the Menu Bar, click File choose Page Setup In the Page Setup dialog box, do the following: Under Size group Click the Slides sized for list down arrow to select a slide size that the presentation might be displayed Change the width of the size in the Width box Change the height of the size in the Height box Lasted Edited:

10 Under Orientation group, select a desired orientation for Slides Note, handouts & outlines Click Option button for additional settings such as Format for to format for specific printer Pager Size Orientation Click OK Lasted Edited:

11 Work with slide layouts Depending on what you plan on displaying on any given slide in a presentation, you should make sure that it s laid out properly. There are number of different slide layouts to choose from in the PowerPoint 2011 layout presentation Select a slide layout for a new slide From the Ribbon, click Home tab Slides click the down arrow next to New Slide Select a desire slide layout to apply for a new slide Change a slide layout for an existing slide Select a slide thumbnails that you want to change its layout From the Ribbon, click Home tab Slides click Layout select a desire slide layout to apply for a selected slide Lasted Edited:

12 Work with Slide Master Understand slide masters When changing the font sizes and colors, or changing from bullets to numbers, those changes were localized changes and did not affect any other slides. Slide masters, somewhat like a template, influence the format and layout of the entire presentation. By modifying slide masters, all of the slides linked to that master will be modified the same as the master in order to maintain consistency and save time Insert slide master Do one of the following: From the Menu Bar, click View Master choose Slide Master Lasted Edited:

13 From the Ribbon, click Themes Master View click Edit Master choose Slide Master Slide master thumbnails inserted displays in the Navigation Pane The top thumbnail represents every single slide in your presentation regardless of layout The number of slide masters inserted in the presentation is dependent on how many slides have the same design setting Lasted Edited:

14 Insert a picture to the presentation with slide master Select a top slide master thumbnail in the Navigation Pane From the Menu Bar, click Insert Photo choose Picture from File In the Choose a Picture dialog box, select a desired picture and then click Insert button Lasted Edited:

15 The inserted picture appears on every slide master in the Navigation Pane Close Slide Master View To see changes or formatting made on slide master applied to the presentation, you need to close the Slide Master View by doing one of the following: From the Menu Bar, click View Master uncheck Slide Master From the Ribbon, click Slide Master tab Master View click Close button Lasted Edited:

16 Insert a custom master layouts Do one of the following: From the Menu Bar, click View Master choose Slide Master From the Ribbon, click Themes Master View click Edit Master choose Slide Master From the Ribbon, click Slide Master tab Slide Master click New Layout button Lasted Edited:

17 The new master slide layout will be added at the bottom of the master slides set From the Ribbon, click Slide Master tab Edit Layout click the down arrow next to Insert Placeholder and select a desired type of placeholder from the drop down list NOTE In the master slide layout, you can edit or delete elements of the layout, for example footers and headers, but you cannot edit or delete elements belonging to the slide master, for example pictures or logo inserted in the slide master Lasted Edited:

18 Close Slide Master View Place the mouse pointer to the place you want to insert a custom slide layout From the Ribbon, click Home tab Slides click the down arrow next to New Slide choose Custom Layout Create a master set of slides Do one of the following: From the Menu Bar, click View Master choose Slide Master Lasted Edited:

19 From the Ribbon, click Themes Master View click Edit Master choose Slide Master From the Ribbon, click Slide Master tab Slide Master click New Master button The list of master slides will be created Lasted Edited:

20 Use headers and footers You can add standard header and footer elements that will appear on all slides of the presentation, handouts as well as speaker notes. For example, you can add the date and time, name of presentation, or page number. Add the date and time to slides From the Menu Bar, click Insert choose Date and Time In the Header and Footer dialog box, do the following: Click Slides tab Choose Date and time check box Select one of the below options: Update Automatically click the list down arrow to choose different formatting Fixed Review the slide layout on the Review pane Choose Don t show on title slide check box if you want it only appears on every slide after the title slide Click Apply to All button Lasted Edited:

21 Add page number and text to slides From the Menu Bar, click Insert choose Header and Footer Lasted Edited:

22 In the Header and Footer dialog box, do the following: Click Slides tab Choose Slide number check box type the page number that you want to start with on the first slide in the Starts at box Choose Footer check box type in the text you want to appear all the slide in the box below Choose Don t show on title slide check box if you want them only appear on every slide after the title slide Click Apply to All button Lasted Edited:

23 Edit header and footer If you want to make additional formatting to header and footer, you can insert slide master to edit them quickly and easily Insert slide master Click the first thumbnail on the Navigation Pane Select placeholders for footers and use formatting tools under Home tab and Format tab on the Ribbon to edit text Close Slide Master View to see the formatting Add header and footer to Notes and Handouts From the Menu Bar, click Insert choose Header and Footer Lasted Edited:

24 In the Header and Footer dialog box, do the following: Click Notes and Handouts tab Choose Date and time check box Select one of the below options: Update Automatically click the list down arrow to choose different formatting Fixed Choose Header check box type in the text you want to appear all the Notes and Handouts in the box below Click Apply to All button Lasted Edited:

25 Use and create templates A PowerPoint template is a pattern or blueprint of a slide or group of slides that you save as a.potx or.pptx file. Templates can contain layouts, colors, fonts, effects, background styles, and even content. You can modify a presentation or existing template, and then save as a template in order to save time creating other presentations in the future with exactly the same in design but new content Create a new template based on another template You can customize an existing template to make it even more useful. Add static information to the existing template, then save the file again (as a template). Do one of the following: From the Toolbar, click New from Template button From the Menu Bar, click File choose New from Template In the Presentation Templates Gallery, do the following; In the left Navigation Pane, under TEMPLATES, click All NOTE If you cannot find a template, you can search for a template based on keywords in the Search box Click a template that is similar to the one that you want to create, and then click Choose button Lasted Edited:

26 Add, delete, or change any text, graphics, or formatting, and make any other changes that you want to appear in all new documents that you base on the template. TIP If you want to make one change to replicate it in several slide layouts, rather than changing each layout or slide individually, you can edit slide masters. From the Menu Bar, click File choose Save As In the Save As box, type the name that you want to use the new template Unless you select a different location, the template is saved in My Template (/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/My Templates) Click the Format list down arrow and choose PowerPoint Template (.potx) Click Save button Lasted Edited:

27 Create a new template based on a document Open a presentation that you want to create the new template from From the Menu Bar, click File choose Save As In the Save As box, type the name that you want to use the new template Unless you select a different location, the template is saved in My Template (/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/My Templates) Click the Format list down arrow and choose PowerPoint Template (.potx) Click Save button Lasted Edited:

28 Start with a template to create a new document Do one of the following: From the Toolbar, click New from Template button From the Menu Bar, click File choose New from Template In the Presentation Templates Gallery, do the following; In the left Navigation Pane, under TEMPLATES, click My Templates NOTE If you created folders to organize your templates, the folders display under My Templates. You need to click the folder to see the templates. Select the custom template you want to start with a new document In the right Navigation Pane, you can select the colors, font and slide size for the template Click Choose button Lasted Edited:
