The workshop was on assessing and improving reading fluency at the middle and secondary levels. There were a couple of hundred participants. o This past April 16 th, 2014 I planned for and executed a reading initiative training and calibration session for reading assessment team members. Preparation for this event was extensive. o March 20 th, 2014 I presented a workshop entitled College Reading Readiness for the VISTA volunteers from around the State of Vermont. The workshop was held this year at GMC. o I served as a Group Leader for a different 20 minute workshop (conducted three times) entitled Problem to Practice at the January 16 th, 2014 Faculty Workshop. This workshop introduced a teaching strategy associated with the Writing Lessons from Images theme. o May 2 nd, Presenter- Workshop held on campus entitled, Oral Language Development & Vocabulary Acquisition: Birth- Age Five. Professionals from around Vermont were in attendance. o October 30 th, Presenter- The Reading Institute- The title of the talk was, Academic Writing and Research Review. o May Presenter- Meeting for doctoral candidates for Simmons College outlining the IRB process as well as components of a dissertation proposal at The Reading Institute in Williamstown, MA. My session lasted half an hour. o Consultant- Middletown Springs Elementary School- Language and Literacy. I ran multiple workshops on the G.M.C. campus for this reason and facilitated nearly all of the bimonthly faculty meetings held at MSES for faculty and staff. I also worked with each teacher at the school individually visiting a minimum of one classroom each week to observe and provide feedback as well as to model lessons with children for their teachers. I provided materials and gathered solicited information for the principal and for the special educator as

5 well as for the teachers. I worked closely with the school s Reading Specialist to try to improve her knowledge base and teaching pedagogies. o May 7 th, Presenter- Meeting for educational leaders (Principals, Superintendents, etc.) at The Reading Institute in Williamstown, MA. My presentation topic was The Use of Computer Technology on Peer Review Outcomes. My session lasted an hour and a half. o April 16 th, Took Elementary Math Methods students to the annual Hudson Valley Mathematics conference held at Skidmore College in New York. Two students, Lauren Piechota and Sarah Bills presented on various base systems and their use in elementary classroom settings. Their presentation drew in many participants. o January 29 th, Presenter- Conference held at The Reading Institute in Williamstown, MA. The conference attracted educators and Reading Specialists from throughout New England. My presentation topic was Research Based Practices for Improving Reading Fluency. My session lasted one hour. o December, Organizer: Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling- a three day course that took place in Rutland, VT o July 14, Instructor- Full day in-service workshop for Dorset Elementary School. The workshop was entitled Components of a Core Literacy Program. o May Presenter- Full day workshop, Green. The workshop was entitled Language Fundamentals for Disability Providers and Post-Secondary Professionals. All Calhoun Learning Center staff were present along with professionals working in similar intervention centers in colleges from all over Vermont state. o April 18, Brought Students to present at the 12 th Annual Hudson River Mathematics Conference in New York. The talk was entitled Mathematics Content and Methods for Elementary Teachers: A New Paradigm.
