Editing images for photo-only banners* Open Photoshop Determine if photo is wide enough On the top menu, select Image > Image Size Photo must be at least 720 px wide to crop without blowing up the photo. If photo is not 720 px wide, it s probably not going to work. Pull the full-res if available, but follow the next steps to make sure you ll like the crop. Cancel out of Image Size window In the Tools menu (open menu from top menu Window > Tools): Select the Crop tool Options appear on the top, enter the following in the appropriate boxes: Width: 728px (you can tab to the next) Height: 200px (don t forget the px, PhotoShop might default to inches and blow up the photo) Resolution: 72 (make sure pixels/inch is selected) Drag the crop tool over the image. You will see how the image will look once cropped. Rearrange the crop box until you are happy. You can rotate the crop selection box by hovering near the corner of the selection. Double click to crop. From the top menu, adjust the zoom if necessary. If it looks good at 100%, you did it right :) Try it again by selecting Edit >Step Backward from the top menu. *After cropping images that look terrible at 728 x 200px, you will gain an appreciation for harsh horizontal photos.
View Image Size. Enter Width, Height, Resolution.
Make selection to preview the crop. Rotate or adjust. View the result.
Photos that won t crop well:

You can click on the Preview button to check that it s the gallery you want. 3. Click the pencil icon to open the gallery for editing. 4. Click on the pencil icon to edit the album. 5. Changing a banner: a. Click the pencil icon for the banner. b. Next to Full File, select Edit c. Find the banner on your computer and upload. d. Change Name/Description/Link, Target, as needed. e. 8 Creating an album Access the media gallery from the CareWorks Control Panel 1. Add Gallery 2. Name the gallery with the following naming convention: Site Website name 494 is a sample site ID. Find the site ID by hovering over the website name above the left navigation. On the bottom of the browser, you ll see the URL See Editing a media gallery/album for good reason to name it this way. 3. Select the site from the drop down. 4. Viewer: Select Random or Sequential Rotating Banner. 5. Add Name/Description for the first album. 6. Add the first item to the first album. a. Enter a Name and Description. b. Select the Full File from your computer. c. Copy/paste the full URL if you want the banner to link anywhere d. Pause defaults to 6 seconds. Make or some infinite amount if it s the only banner in the album and you are on the old template. e. Click Save to save the item. 7. To add additional banners to the same album: a. Add Item. b. Repeat steps in Click Save to save the album. a. To add additional albums for additional pages within the website, click Add Album. b. Repeat steps Click Save to save the gallery.
Inserting an album into a page A media gallery can hold multiple albums. One media gallery will hold all the albums on a website. Additional galleries may hold video or photo albums. In the page Edit menu: Scroll down and click Show Advanced Options. In Custom Link Area 2, enter in: Old template: Gallery ID New template: Album ID Save and view page. Check pacing and links. Old template: Because the old template uses a Flash viewer, you may need to clear your browser cache before you can see the change. New template: Uses JavaScript and changes are instant. Just refresh the browser. Old template sub pages Sites on the old template can only display an album on its home page and uses the gallery ID, found in parentheses after the gallery name. You can, however, insert a static image using the Rich Text Editor for that page. Open on the Image Manager Upload banner to the correct department folder. Click over to properties and type in alt text. Also enter -10 into all of the margin fields. This overrides the template s 10px margin. Insert. Save Rich Text Editor. Before saving the page, remove the page title from the page, or it will mess up the banner. Show advanced options. In Custom Styles, copy and paste this bit of code: #PageTitle{display:none;} Save and view page.
