3 Instructions By filling in this application form you are applying for admission into a Master s degree programme (Master of Arts) taught in English at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen. Who can apply? It is possible to apply even if you have not obtained your Bachelor s degree by the application deadline. However, you can only apply if you expect to complete your Bachelor s degree before you commence your Master s degree studies at the Faculty of Humanities. If you do not complete your Bachelor s degree prior to enrolment, admission will be denied. Please be aware that for non-eu/non-eea-citizens without permanent residence in Denmark, there will be a tuition fee of a minimum of ,00 DKK per year. How to apply Section 1: Concerns personal details and must be filled in by all applicants. Section 2: Concerns residency and must be filled in by all applicants who are not citizens of a county in the EU or EEA. Section 3: Concerns a governmental scholarship for non-eu/non-eea citizens, and can be filled in by applicants who are not citizens of a county in the EU or EEA only. If you are an academically highly qualified applicant from a non-eu/non-eea country, who wishes to come to Denmark on a student visa (temporary residence permit), you can apply for a governmental scholarship, which consists of tuition waivers and a subsistence support for months. To be considered into account for the scholarship you have to include an application letter of 1-2 pages in which you state why you think you qualify for a scholarship along with 2 letters of reference from current/former university lecturers/professors. The selection of students, who will be granted the governmental scholarship, is made based on your academic achievements, your application letter and the letters of reference. This is your only chance to apply for the scholarship. You cannot apply for the scholarship later. Section 4: Concerns which programme you are applying for and must be filled in by all applicants. Section 5: Concerns your qualifying undergraduate degree and must be filled in by all applicants. Section 6: Concerns English proficiency and must be filled in by all applicants from non-english-speaking countries except citizens of the Nordic countries, i.e. Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Section 7: Concerns other relevant information regarding your application and is optional. You may enclose a separate page that contains relevant information regarding your application. 4 Documents to enclose To enable us to consider your application, you must enclose the following documents: Copy of residence permit: (non-eu/non-eea citizens only) Enclose if you already have one, otherwise tick the box in section 2, where it says that you will apply for one in case of admission. Copy of official transcripts of records: These documents need to show which courses you have taken and which grades you have obtained as well as an explanation of the grading scale used at this institution. We need official transcripts from your undergraduate place(s) of studies. Copy of qualifying degree certificate: (E.g. your Bachelor s degree) To be considered for admission into one of the English taught Master s degree programmes, you need to hold a relevant Bachelor s degree (BA) or an equivalent undergraduate degree. A relevant undergraduate degree is usually a degree taken in a subject that is equivalent or close to the Master s degree programme you are applying for. If you do not have the degree certificate when you apply for a Master s degree programme at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, we can still accept your application on the condition that you send us your certificate as soon as you get it. If you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree, tick the last box in section 5 and state when you expect to complete your undergraduate degree. Also see Who can apply? above. Copy of English language test result: We only accept the language tests IELTS, TOEFL and CAE. If you have not passed the test at the time of application, please tick the box in section 6 regarding test registration. Once you pass the test, you can either get the test institution to send us the original certificate or send a copy of the certificate to us yourself. You can forward the language test result even after the application deadline, but you have to pass the test before we can enrol you. Documentation of the prescribed period of study and your ECTS/credit/points system: We need official documentation explaining what the prescribed period of study is (how long is it supposed to take to complete a Bachelor s/undergraduate your university/institution), what kind of credit/point system (e.g. ECTS) is used at your university/institution, and how many credits/points are you required to achieve in order to complete your bachelor s degree. Description of your Bachelor s/undergraduate programme and courses relevant for admission: This may include programme descriptions, curricula, course descriptions of courses relevant for admission (i.e. the courses you have taken that count towards admission/that are relevant to the Master s degree programme you are applying for, examination requirements (e.g. syllabi), etc. Curriculum vitae If you are applying for the Master s degree programme Cognition & Communication you must enclose a motivational letter describing your qualifications and your interest in the programme in no more than 1000 words. If you are applying for the Master s degree programme Applied Cultural Analysis you must enclose a motivational letter of maximum 2 pages. Here you must state your motivation for studying at MACA, your visions for a future career and your skills in cultural analysis. You may enclose the following, voluntary material: Two letters of recommendation Voluntary: other material which you find necessary in relation to your former studies 4

5 All documents must be in: Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, English, German or French. Documents in any other language than those mentioned above will not be accepted unless you have also provided us with an authorised translation of all documents into any of the languages mentioned above. If you already live in Denmark, you must put your CPR-number on all documents. If you live outside of Denmark you must put your full name on all documents. Please note that documents will not be returned. Therefore do not send us your original documents. Verification of degree certificates and other documentation: The educational institution (i.e. the University of Copenhagen) has the right, after admission, to verify the information you have given in the application. This applies to all the information given. If it turns out that you have submitted forged, fake or in any way misleading documentation, you will be reported to the police and your admission will be cancelled. If your application form is submitted later than that, it will be considered as an application for enrolment the following spring semester. Please note that the Master s degree programmes in Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) and Cognition & Communication admit students in the autumn semester only. If you wish to start your degree programme studies at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, in the spring semester, your application form must be submitted to the Faculty of Humanities before October 15. If your application form is submitted later than that, it will be considered as an application for enrolment the following autumn semester. Since the Master s degree programmes in Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) and Cognition & Communication admit students in the autumn semester only, all applications for the Master s degree programmes in Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) and Cognition & Communication will be considered for the autumn semester the following year, if received after March 15. Please expect at least two months from the application deadline for the Faculty of Humanities to handle your application. Non-EU/non-EEA citizens If you are not a citizen of an EU or EEA country and you do not have a permanent residence permit or a residence permit with the option of permanent residency in Denmark (med henblik på varigt ophold), application deadlines 5

6 are different from those mentioned above, since the application procedure is more complicated and requires more handling time. Therefore, if you wish to start your Master s degree programme studies at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, in the autumn semester, your application must be submitted to the Faculty of Humanities before February 1. If your application form is submitted later than that, it will be considered as an application for enrolment the following spring semester. Please note that the Master s degree programmes in Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) and Cognition & Communication admit students in the autumn semester only. If you wish to start your degree programme studies at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, in the spring semester, your application must be submitted to the Faculty of Humanities before August 15. If your application form is submitted later than that, it will be considered as an application for enrolment the following autumn semester. Since the Master s degree programmes in Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) and Cognition & Communication admit students in the autumn semester only, all applications for the Master s degree programmes in Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) and Cognition & Communication will be considered for the autumn semester the following year, if received after February 1.
