3 system ConTRols This system uses these controls along with a variety of touch-screen controls to operate the audio, dvd and navigation systems. Consult the Table of Contents to find general tips for system operation. Consult your system owner s Manual for detailed instructions. AUdiO ON/OFF audio on/off, controls volume display setup screen options (page 20) RAdiO selects fm/am band fm1, fm2, am (page 4) OPEN opens the front panel to allow insertion of discs (page 6) SATELLiTE RAdiO selects band 1, 2, 3 (page 5) COMPACT disc (Cd/dVd) selects disc (page 6) Closes the front panel once a disc is removed (page 6) navigation system setup screen (page 12) searches next or previous radio station skips to the next or previous disc track use to select channel 0 MAP navigation Map destination destination Menu (page 14) MENU navigation Menu (page 18) +ZOOM enlarges map ZOOM Reduces the map RESET see system owner s Manual for details. 2 3

4 using THe audio system fm/am using THe audio system Radio LiSTENiNg TO RAdiO STATiONS 1. Press the fm/am button to listen to broadcast radio 2. Press the fm/am button repeatedly to select the band as follows: fm1...fm2...am... six presets per band are available. Touch and hold one of the 6 preset buttons, until a beep sounds, to store your station selection. SELECTiNg RAdiO STATiONS auto search Touch the forward-skip or ReVeRse-sKiP buttons When a station is received, searching stops Manual search Touching the forward or ReVeRse buttons moves the channels up or down step by step Holding the forward or ReVeRse buttons down runs the channel selection up or down continuously SCAN FUNCTiON Touch the scan button to automatically search forward for receivable stations Touching scan again will stop on the current station Note: During SCAN mode, each station is tuned in for 10 seconds before moving to the next station 4 5 F LiSTENiNg TO SATELLiTE RAdiO ChANNELS 1. Press the button to select satellite Radio 2. Press the button repeatedly to select the band as follows: six presets per band are available. Touch and hold one of the 6 preset buttons, until a beep sounds, to store your station selection. 3. Touch the Category forward or ReVeRse button to select a category 4. Touch the Channel forward or ReVeRse button to select a channel after 2 seconds, the selected channel becomes audible Note: You must use the / button to get to channel 0 SELECTiNg RAdiO ChANNELS To preview and select channels from the Channel list: 1. Touch the CH list button which brings up the CHannel list on screen 2. Touch the left-hand up or down button to select the desired category 3. Touch the right-hand up or down button to select another page of channel listings, if offered 4. Touch the desired channel

5 using THe Cd and dash-dvd PlayeR PLAYiNg A Cd OR dvd inserting/ejecting A Cd OR dvd inserting a disc PLAYiNg A dvd 1. insert the dvd (see page 6) 2. if playback is not visible, press the disc button 1. Press the open button to open the front panel 2. insert the disc 3. The front panel will close automatically and playback will start Warning: do not attempt to operate the dash dvd Player while driving. For safety purposes the screen will only operate when the vehicle is stopped. ejecting a disc 1. Press the open button to open the front panel 2. Press the eject button below the Cd/dVd slot 3. Remove the disc and press the Close button on the front panel USiNg dvd PLAYER CONTROLS 1. Press the forward, backward, up or down button to select the title / chapter you want to view 2. Touch the Play button to start playback Warning: do not insert homemade Cds or dvds with paper labels. These may jam the player. 3. during dvd playback, touch the screen to view the dvd Player controls PLAYiNg A Cd Press the disc button to select the disc and begin playback (audio Cd, MP3, or WMa) 6 7

6 adjusting sound & ConTRolling PRogRaMs AdJUSTiNg ThE SOUNd PReseT eq settings STEERiNg WhEEL MOUNTEd CONTROLS To adjust the radio tone to one of four presets, touch the eq button to select: flat: sets tone controls to neutral ClassiC: optimized for orchestral music jazz: optimized for jazz music RoCK: optimized for rock music Mode Pressing the Mode button selects a source as follows: fm1...fm2...am disc... azera PRogRaM selection Press the up or down button to: select a preset fm/am radio station select a preset radio station select a Cd track VoluMe ConTRol select a dvd chapter Manually adjusting Tone, balance and fade 1. Touch the sound button 2. adjust Tone, balance and fader to your preference 3. Touch the back button to return to the radio screen Pressing the Vol up or down button increases or decreases the volume level Pressing the MuTe button cancels the audio Pressing the MuTe button again restores the audio Veracruz Press and hold the up or down button to: seek radio stations scan within a Cd track santa fe 8 9

7 using THe navigation system SYMBOLS ANd BUTTONS FOR ThE MAP SCREEN heading indicator Toggles between north up and Heading up gps shows detailed gps coordinates guidance VOLUME MAP SCALE displays current map scale (use zoom controls to enlarge or reduce) MENU ON/OFF displays MaRK and Poi mini-menu MARKEd POiNT Registers the current location as a Marked Point POiNTS OF interest displays a list of local landmarks and businesses by category MAP displays the navigation Map destination displays the destination Menu MENU displays the navigation Menu +ZOOM enlarges the map ZOOM Reduces the map 10 11

8 using THe navigation system VOLUME NAVigATiON SYSTEM CONTROLS To set the volume for narrated navigation guidance: When provided, touching the BACK button will return you to the previous screen Touch the Plus or Minus button Touch the MuTe button to mute the guidance volume MARKEd POiNT OPTiONS guidance alarm This allows warnings and alerts which, when selected on, will provide voice prompts When selected off, no voice prompts will be provided for the marked points show on MaP The Hide button prevents display of marked points The show button displays marked points MAP NAVigATiON SYSTEM To customize the system settings press the setup button to display the setup screen orientation The Heading up button orients the map so that your forward direction is always at the top The north up button orients the map so that north is always at the top (note: Cannot use in 3d view.) show Touch the 3d button to display a simplified three-dimensional view Touch the 2d button to display a straight-forward two-dimensional view (This is the default map view) 12 13

9 using THe navigation system SETTiNg destinations: USiNg A MARKEd POiNT a Marked Point is a previously stored map location Choose an address from your list of Marked Points When provided, touching the BACK button will return you to the previous screen USiNg ThE EMERgENCY CATEgORY This selection will offer a choice of: Hospitals Police stations Hyundai dealerships USiNg ThE AddRESS SEARCh input a destination address to search for addresses in the system database USiNg A POiNT OF interest SEARCh The system database offers a long list of stored addresses for landmarks and businesses input the name of a Point of interest, including the state, if needed from the Map, you can touch the on-screen Poi button for a list of local Points of interest by category USiNg A PHONE NUMBER input a business phone number to locate the business address CREATiNg A NAVigATiON ROUTE To create a navigation route you need to set the destination To display the Destination menu press the dest button SETTiNg YOUR home ANd FAVORiTE destinations you can assign up to five favorite destinations using the favorites buttons. see system owner s Manual for details. To set your Home as a destination it is recommended to only designate the nearest major intersection, for safety purposes, to not divulge your home street address USiNg AN intersection SEARCh input the two streets that correspond to your destination USiNg A PREViOUS destination up to 20 of your most recent Previous destinations are stored by the system select the name of the Previous destination 14 15

10 using THe navigation system FiNALiZiNg YOUR NAVigATiON ROUTE using the choices on the destination Menu select a destination and touch ok in the Map screen The route calculation begins automatically go selecting go will put your route into action as you drive, including narrated navigation guidance displaying YOUR NAVigATiON ROUTE The RouTe overview screen allows you to view your route in different ways When provided, touching the BACK button will return you to the previous screen TURN-BY-TURN selecting TuRn-by-TuRn displays a list of route segments Touch the overview button to return to the Route overview screen PREViEW selecting PReVieW gives you an animated preview of your route 16 17

11 using THe navigation system ROUTE OVERViEW MANAgiNg YOUR NAVigATiON ROUTE Press the Menu button to access the navi Menu screen displays The RouTe overview screen Note: This menu works only if a route is already active ROUTE OPTiONS allows you to select your option preferences for route creation Route Candidates Programs 1 route Programs 3 different route options When provided, touching the BACK button will return you to the previous screen CANCEL ROUTE if you no longer need to travel to your destination or if you want to change your destination Note: This menu works only if a route is already active Routes can be selected to include or omit: Highways Toll Roads ferry crossings (if applicable) 18 (for further navigation system operation details, please consult the system owner s Manual.) detour you can set the length of the area to be avoided, or you can search a new route from your current location to your destination Choose the distance from the list, route calculation starts automatically Note: This menu works only if a route is already active 19

12 adjusting THe display screen display Touch the off button to turn off the screen Touch the screen to turn the screen back on display SCREEN SETTiNgS Press the disp (display) button to select the display settings screen Mode To set display visibility preferences, select: day night auto 20 (on santa fe models the auto setting is connected to headlight function. The screen will automatically dim when the headlights are turned on. if a brighter setting is desired, use the day setting.) brightness To set the brightness of the screen, touch the Plus or Minus button to adjust the screen brightness.
