1 2015 YOUNG ADULT MARCH OF THE LIVING ITINERARY (subject to change) Sunday, April 12th **ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST MEET AT PEARSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AT 6PM ** Overnight flight to Warsaw: LOT flight 042 departs at 21:55 Monday, April 13th Arrive in Warsaw 12:05 PM Tour Museum of the History of Polish Jews Gensha Cemetery - we will visit one of the oldest and largest Jewish cemeteries in Poland where, ironically, we will learn about life before the War as well as the cemetery s significance during the ghetto period. Check in and Opening Debrief Overnight in Warsaw: JM Hotel Tuesday, April 14th Tykochin in pre- War Europe, Tykochin was shtetl, or traditional Jewish rural village (think: Fiddler on the Roof). Although no Jews live there today, we will travel there to learn about shtetl life. Treblinka - this is the first Nazi death camp we will visit. While the entire camp was destroyed, we will visit the unique memorial that now commemorates the 870,000 victims who were murdered there. Return to Warsaw Daily Debrief Overnight in Warsaw: JM Hotel Wednesday, April 15th and Check Out Depart for Oswecim en Route Tour Birkenau and Auschwitz - Auschwitz was actually divided into two camps: Auschwitz, the forced labour camp, and Birkenau, the death camp. We will begin by visiting Birkenau and spend the rest of the afternoon touring Auschwitz which has been converted into a museum. NO BACKPACKS ALLOWED IN AUSCHWITZ

2 Wednesday, April 15th (continued) Depart for Krakow Erev Yom Hashoah Ceremony Overnight in Krakow: Metropolis Design Hotel Thursday, April 16th Kazimierz this is the old Jewish quarter of Krakow. Through visiting its shuls and cemeteries, we will learn about the rich Jewish life in Krakow that existed before the War Krakow Ghetto - we will see where the Jewish ghetto of Krakow was located as well as visit some significant sites including the ghetto pharmacy, wall, Oskar Schindler s factory, and the Umschalgplatz (deportation square). Depart for Auschwitz International March of the Living in commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, we will participate in a silent, 3 kilometer march with over 10,000 other participants from across the world. Upon our arrival in Birkenau, we will attend the International March of the Living s Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) s official ceremony. Depart for Krakow Daily Debrief Overnight in Krakow: Metropolis Design Hotel Friday, April 17th and Check Out Plaszow we will visit the site of the former concentration and forced labour camp, Plaszow, made famous by Spielberg s Schindler s List. Depart for Warsaw Kielce this town was made famous by a pogrom that occurred in 1946, long after the War had ended. We will learn about what happened to the Jews of Kielce, both during the War and afterwards. 3 Saturday, April 18th Optional Morning Services Faigie s Testimony Ghetto Walking Tour we will walk through modern Warsaw, stopping to observe former buildings, areas and monuments significant to the Warsaw ghetto. Havdallah and Canadian Ceremony we will join the remaining Canadian contingents and other MOL groups for a lively Havdallah and celebration of Jewish life. Overnight in Warsaw: Sobieski Radisson Blu Sunday, April 19th and Check Out Depart for Lublin Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin - YCL was a famous yeshiva and centre of Jewish study before the War. Majdanek of all the camps, Majdanek remains the most intact. While some of the barracks have been converted into a museum, many areas including the gas chamber and remain as they were during the Holocaust.
