6 Page. 6 REFLECTIONS K T F Does God Forgive Abortion? Question: Can a person (the mother, father, or provider) ever be forgiven for an abortion? Answer: For people of faith, any conversation of human sinfulness should always lead us to reflect on God s loving mercy. Because God s mercy is greater than any sin, the Church is clear that even those involved in the sin of abortion can be reconciled with God and the Church. To help make this grace more available through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Pope Francis extended the permission to absolve someone of the sin of abortion to all priests in Even with the grace and blessings of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the tragedy of abortion and the aftermath of abortion takes a toll on everyone involved. Ministries of outreach and support, such as Project Rachel, offer pastoral counseling, support groups, retreats, and other forms of care. As Christians, we are also called to help promote this healing and reconciliation in all its forms. To learn more, visit LPi ATTENTION CRAFTERS: Sunday, December 5, 2021 Christmas Cookie and Craft Fair presented by St. Anne s Society of Holy Angels Church IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING US, Call or Text Julie Lano at (630) JULIELANO@SBCGLOBAL.NET An application and information sheet will be sent to you. GOSPEL MEDITATION October 3, th Sunday in Ordinary Time Archbishop Fulton Sheen said, It takes three to make love, not two: you, your spouse, and God. Apart from the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ, nothing speaks better of God s incarnate love than marriage. God designed it this way. We place great value on love and rightly so. What we fail to realize, however, is that love, its very presence and place in our lives, is not simply part of the human package deal. Love comes from God. It is one of God s greatest gifts to human beings. When we begin to realize that our very ability to love is sacred, it changes up how we see the essence of life, and purpose and sanctity of marriage. God is love. It stands to reason then that if we follow the path of unconditional, self-emptying love we will then stumble upon God. It is precisely this intimate wedding of God with love that gives such eloquence and honor to the love between husband and wife. As a living sign of Christ s love for the Church and for humanity, husbands and wives speak volumes of God s unconditional incarnate love for all of his children! The Divine power that brings unity and life to marriage is so strong that once joined, it really cannot be separated. Admittedly, marriage covenants can be extremely difficult to negotiate and, at times, very painful to experience. God s perfect divinity always meets our broken and imperfect humanity. God is okay with this setup as he created it this way. Our loving is never as unconditional as God s and often tainted by our own imperfections, needs, memories, hurts, sinfulness, and weakness. All of this baggage negatively impacts even the most well-intentioned marriages, causing them to be hurtful and empty. We are love works in progress. God can succeed in perfecting our love only if we keep our eyes fixed on him as the source of that love. That s why marriage is always about three and not just two. The Divine intimacy at the heart of marriage is what can make them celebrations of great union and happiness. Couples who are still madly in love with each other after many years, still looking at each other with that timeless twinkle in their eyes, best tell the story of God s oneness with humanity. Honor, celebrate, and support those who have accepted a vocation to marriage. Living in a world that easily pulls relationships apart, may they find hope and inspiration from their faith companions who are on the same journey!

Each member receives monthly directives for reflection and prayer: 1) a letter to assist in personal formation and growth 2) a list of specific prayer intentions for the Sisters 3) a list of prayer intentions from the broader community. The Consecrated Laity Program is a path for women and men who seek to grow in holiness through a private vow of celibacy. This special consecration is intended to deepen one s relationship with God. The members of the Consecrated Laity Program begin with a time of formation, praying and studying the history and charism of the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary as well as what it means to commit to a private vow of celibacy. If you are interested in learning more about this special program, please contact Sister Myra Lambert, sscm at lam-bert@sbcglobal.net or by calling Sister will be happy to discuss the Consecrated Laity Program with you and send you a handbook. SEEK HIM, FIND HIM, FOLLOW HIM DAILY I ve said it before and here I am saying it again, We can learn much from the saints! And in light of that, here s some Words of Wisdom from a letter written by Saint Francis of Paola that can provide some food for thought for all of us. It is entitled Be converted with a sincere heart : May our Lord Jesus Christ, a most generous giver, reward you for your labor. Avoid evil, cast danger aside. Though we are unworthy, we and your brothers never cease to pray to God the Father and to his Son Jesus Christ and also to the Virgin Mary that you may receive everything you need for your spiritual and physical well-being. I earnestly admonish you, therefore, my brothers, to look after your spiritual well-being with judicious concern. Death is certain; life is short and vanishes like smoke. Fix your minds, then, on the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Inflamed with love for us, he came down from heaven to redeem us. For our sake he endured every torment of body and soul and shrank from no bodily pain. He himself gave us an example of perfect patience and love. We, then, are to be patient in adversity. Put aside your hatred and animosity. Take pains to refrain from sharp words. If they escape your lips, do not be ashamed to let your lips produce the remedy, since they have caused wounds. Pardon one another so that later on you will not remember the injury. The recollection of an injury is itself wrong. It adds to our anger, nurtures our sin and hates what is good. It is a rusty arrow and poison for the soul. It puts all virtue to flight. It is like a worm in the mind: it confuses our speech and tears to shreds our petitions to God. It is foreign to charity: it remains planted in the soul like a nail. It is wickedness that never sleeps, sin that never fails. It is indeed a daily death. Be peace-loving. Peace is a precious treasure to be sought with great zeal. You are well aware that our sins arouse God s anger. You must change your life, therefore, so that God in his mercy will pardon you. What we conceal from men is known to God. Be converted, then, with a sincere heart. Live your life that you may receive the blessing of the Lord. Then the peace of God our Father will be with you always. Words of wisdom and direction, would you not agree? Let us take them to heart and respond as necessary. And may God bless you. Let us pray: Lord, I pray for peace in my heart, for peace in the hearts of those around me and peace throughout the world. Inspiration Resources: saintsfrburke23.wordpress.com Msgr.
