ERIE SHORES SOUTH CATHOLIC FAMILY OF PARISHES PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Did you know that our parishes have a Prayer Shawl Ministry? We have some very creative people who knit and crochet shawls in a prayerful setting for those who need comfort, are going through a loss, are going through medical treatments, for joyous occasions, etc. It is a tangible gift to show the recipient our love through the many stitches created in thoughtful prayer. All of our prayer shawls have a green scapular sewn into them with the story of the scapular and how it has many reports of conversions and cures along with a prayer card from our Ministry. They are all blessed by our priests before they are lovingly given to a loved one. Do you know someone who you think could use a prayer shawl? Society of St. Vincent de Paul - s The St. Vincent de Paul Society wishes to thank everyone for the continuous support of items needed for the food bank especially during our drive thru, the Miracle Drive and most recently the need for water for the homeless. Truth, Reconciliation and Healing: Speaker Series and Gatherings The relationship between the church and the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island has been fraught for 500 years but rarely acknowledged or discussed within our communities. With the revelations of countless unmarked graves, the Church and our nation is beginning to wake up. Beginning September 8, 2021 we will gather to discuss the legacy, which is ours, while calling us beyond ourselves to part of the process of reconciliation and healing. Each week will cover a different topic and speakers present will come from both Indigenous and settler communities. These gatherings will take place in the Parish Hall at St. George's in London, Ontario, beginning at 7:00 pm and concluding by 9:00 pm. Registration will be required, whether you would like to attend these talks in person or virtually.
