Powell Retreat Center is owned and operated by Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler Texas. The Retreat is an extension of the Recreation Ministry under the direct supervision of Buddy Holland and his staff. The Retreat is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Tyler nestled in a friendly neighborhood of good ol East Texas Christian folks. We are open daily for our GABC members and guest to use the facilities to relax, pray, visit with friends and reconnect with nature and the Good Lord. This booklet hopes introduce you to what is available each day and the areas that may be Reserved by your group. The majority of the use is by GABC ministries but we also host reunions, weddings, birthday parties, and other family oriented events. All reservations must be approved by the Church office and details can be answered by calling We strive to keep this Retreat as a family oriented Christian environment and do have certain rules and regulations as show on the following page. We do no clean or maintain your room or cabin during your stay here. We do not provide linens, towels, pillows, or personal toiletries and do not laundry items for you. We have a small staff and ask that you leave your area as clean or cleaner when you depart. Open daily as shown below. In the early summer months, we host our GABC children s Day Camp during the weekdays and actually close the facility until 4pm each day. This ensures the safety of our children and employees and enables them to conduct their camp in a closed setting. Please contact us for dates and more information. We also close the entire month of January each year for maintenance and repairs and do not except any reservations for the facilities. During the summer, the Pavilion and lake front areas are a popular place for all. If you reserve the Pavilion for your group, please plan and understand you may be sharing the open picnic areas, playground, parking, and boat ramp areas with other general GABC members that may show up for daily use. As Director of the facility, my wife and I are on the premises and live in the office/home located just inside Gate 2 during your stay here. 4 PAUL POWELL RETREAT CENTER STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The Paul Powell Retreat Center, a ministry of Green Acres Baptist Church, exists to reach people of all ages with the gospel message of Jesus Christ through an experience in a Christian environment located in a natural setting. MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Paul Powell Retreat Center is to be a year round extension of the recreation ministry of Green Acres Baptist Church. Utilizing its natural, God created setting to provide physical recreation, emotional renewal and spiritual restoration through activities blended with Biblical principles and Christian values. OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES: Exalt God s Greatness thru the beauty of our portion of HIS creation on Lake Tyler. Evangelize God s Word by using the retreat facilities in the training of individuals to go and teach others about Christ. Equip God s People in a deeper walk with God thru camps, retreats and other gatherings. Express God s Love by encouraging the body of Christ at Green Acres Baptist Church to bring their friends, neighbors and associates to a Christian environment where they can model Christ in a dark world.

5 RETREAT CENTER POLICIES, RULES AND REGULATIONS Each group is to leave facilities as clean as they found them. The Retreat Center does not furnish linens, pillows, soap or personal items. Furniture and equipment are not to be removed from any building without the expressed permission of the camp director. No cooking is allowed on the wooden decks of the hotel or lodge. No pets inside the facilities or outside on the Retreat grounds. Cutting of trees, shrubs or other plant life is prohibited. NO alcoholic beverages, fireworks, firearms, pets, and smoking are permitted on Retreat Center property. No ATV or any motorized vehicles allowed on the grounds unless authorized by the director. All injuries and illnesses are to be reported immediately to camp director. Automobiles are to be parked in designated areas only and are not permitted in the grass area. Campfires are prepared by the camp director in designated areas only and must be requested at least three days in advance of the day needed. You will be responsible for extinguishing them in a safe manner. Any group or person refusing to cooperate with these policies will be asked to leave the grounds and no refund will be issued. You may be charged additional fees for any destruction to the buildings, property, bedding or equipment by any individual in your group. This also includes any moving of furniture, nail holes in walls, tape applied to walls or ceiling and paint on table and floor. You may be charged for the loss of room keys or any other keys provided for your group by the director. Please be respectful of other people who may be utilizing the Retreat Center the same time that you are here. Please do not use any of the buildings other than the ones that you have rented.

Full kitchen facilities include: Commercial propane gas range with 4 burners, 2 ovens, one top grill and commercial exhaust system Double sink with garbage disposal Two dishwashers Two Refrigerators/freezers One Microwave One large preparation table Various pots, pans, dishware, and utensils. (used donated items available for your use) Rear Room for storage including Commercial Ice Machine and one Refrigerator/freezer Storage Closet (mop bucket, mop, brooms, cleaning supplies) Mens Restroom (one urinal, one toilet, one sink) Womens Restroom (two toilets, one sink) Coffee Bar with bar sink and two 10 cup coffee makers First Aid Kit App. 16 ft. x 60 ft. rear concrete deck with wooden benches

22 General Facilities Available for general use by GABC members and Guests of the Retreat Two picnic table sheds (metal roofs / open sides and located near the boat ramp) Each one app. 10 ft. x 10 ft. concrete with 8 ft. rectangle tables - attached benches on both sides (table top -28 inches wide x 96 inches) Concrete Basketball Court with goals on each end Sand Volleyball Court with regulation net Concrete Boat Ramp (Annual Permit Required to launch each watercraft- purchased from Director s office) Boat Dock with 4 boat slips and watercraft tie off hooks 7 metal picnic tables with attached benches on both sides and small charcoal BBQ grills nearby (located between the pavilion and shoreline) Swim area and dock - No lifeguard on duty- swim at your own risk Sno Cone Shack available with approval of the Director. (summer only) (Sno cone machine and commercial ice machine available- you must supply your own syrup, cups and supplies) Childs Playground with swings, seesaws, slides and etc. Childs Archery Range (Adult Supervision Required) Bow & Arrows, BB Guns, Soft pellet guns ONLY Outdoor Fire Pit (Approval from Director REQUIRED) The Hill Restroom Building (men s and women s restroom located just inside gate 1) Men s side ( 1 urinal, 1 sink, 1 toilet, 1 shower) Women s side ( 2 toilets, 1 sink 1 shower)
