Why are we the first to have obtained 400 million euros from the European Investment bank to encourage all of its' inhabitants to develop solar energy?

6 [ A region commited ] environmental excellence : regional priority Over 700 million euros invested since 2004, that is, 20% of the regional budget 26% Community ERDF dedicated to the development of renewable energy, that is, four times the French average. The Region is pursuing the objective of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2020 against the 1990 level.

14 [ 12 innovative actions - 4 ] 4 the first Kyoto high school running entirely on clean energy a building consuming 13 times less heat and 22 times less electricity, that is, less than 5 kwh/m2 per year ; 500 high school students and apprentices since September 2009.

24 [ Poitou-Charentes Fatick ] Since 2004, a cooperation based on the development of renewable energy, microfinance and goat-farming sector. A cooperation protocol signed on 4 December 2009 regarding ecotourism, food security, education and institutional support completes the priorities of codevelopment.

25 [ Poitou-Charentes Fatick ] Two major objectives : improved living conditions of local populations by reducing poverty and fighting against the effects of climate change through measures of mitigation and adaptation.

26 [ Poitou-Charentes Fatick ] The PRODER, the Programme for the Development of Renewable Energies, is a large-scale programme allowing access to carbon finance, highlighted by the UNDP.

27 [ Poitou-Charentes Fatick ] Activities concentrated at five eco-villages : The creation of a sector to produce energy-efficient stoves to conserve wood resources: Craftsmen trained, 25 women's group involved, 5 mutual savings and credit organisations and over 700 stoves already sold ; Design and deployment of solar ovens ; Management of forest resources ;

28 [ Poitou-Charentes Fatick ] Incorporation energy, climate and gender issues in planning decisions by local authorities ; Rural electrification in isolated areas. This cooperation between France and Senegal also offers economic benefits for Poitou-Charentes with opportunities for several companies and research centres in the fields of solar energy, domestic wind turbines and biopesticides.
