4 Important Teephone Numbers Pease read this handbook and then keep it in a convenient spot, such as your gove box or front consoe, for future reference. Your membership card is your ticket to accessing your benefits. This handbook is your guide to using the membership privieges. Pease use the foowing to-free teephone numbers to obtain service or for questions about your membership. Roadside Assistance: Road & towing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the U. S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. 5 Eigibiity for Membership Eigibiity for AARP Roadside Assistance is imited to current members of AARP. Roadside Assistance coverage is not renewabe if membership in AARP expires or is terminated. AARP Roadside Assistance offers the foowing other membership pan options: Standard Pan - Individua Membership. - Coupe Membership covers both member and spouse for an additiona fee. - Famiy Membership covers up to 4 driving age chidren, ages 16-25, iving at home or fu-time students for an additiona $20 per year more than the Coupe membership fee. - The Standard Pan incudes additiona benefits and protection over the Road N Tow Pans: dispatch guarantee, trip routing/maps, arrest bond certificate, trip interruption guarantee, ega defense reimbursement, vehice repair referra service, and auto theft deterrent reward. Premier Pan - Individua Membership. - Coupe Membership covers both member and spouse for an additiona fee. - Famiy Membership covers up to 4 driving age chidren, ages 16-25, iving at home or fu-time students for an additiona $20 per year more than the Coupe membership fee. - The Premier Pan offers the same benefits as the Standard Pan at increased eves for towing mies, reimbursement imits, dispatch guarantee, trip interruption guarantee, and auto theft deterrent reward. 6 About Your Membership As a member of AARP Roadside Assistance, you are entited to a services and benefits described in this handbook immediatey upon receipt of your membership card and/or membership materias. Benefits are avaiabe to you and a second househod member (if appicabe) iving at the same address with a vaid driver s icense. Membership benefits and dues are subject to change, upon membership renewa. Future dues wi be charged at the then appicabe rate. Membership is continuous and wi be automaticay renewed annuay with the membership fee being bied automaticay on your credit card or invoiced to your address, depending upon the payment method seected. Services and benefits of Roadside Assistance are ony avaiabe in the U. S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, and for incidents that occur whie your membership is in force. Your membership begins on the day your membership kit is maied by Roadside Assistance. A road and towing services are on a reimbursabe basis unti member dues have been paid. Remember, coverage is on the individua member not the vehice. You are covered in any car you drive or ride in as ong as the type of vehice is covered as expained within this handbook. Membership benefits do not cover non-members who drive your car. 6

7 Membership Cards Personaized membership ID card(s) for you and a secondary househod member, if appicabe, are incuded with your membership kit. You need your membership number to access roadside services and other benefits. Caim Poicy To maintain a high standard of service with fair and reasonabe dues for a members, roadside assistance is imited to three (3) paid caims per membership year. These services incude jump start, fat tire change, fue deivery, winching (removing a stuck vehice), towing, ockout, ost key service, and caim reimbursement. AARP Roadside Assistance wi notify you if the imit is reached. If you exceed the annua caims imit and additiona roadside assistance is needed during a membership year, Roadside Assistance wi continue to dispatch service on a cash ca basis for your disabed vehice. You must pay any resuting service charges at the time service is rendered, and these charges are not reimbursabe. The number of service caims for your membership wi be reset to zero upon each anniversary of your membership enroment. Canceation of Membership AARP Roadside Assistance wi not cance your membership without giving you prior written notice. You may cance at any time and receive a prorated refund of any unused membership dues cacuated from the canceation date. The canceation of a membership automaticay cances the membership of a other househod members. Faiure to repay Roadside Assistance for any money advanced on your behaf is cause for canceation. Roadside Assistance reserves the right to deduct any amount owed to AARP Roadside Assistance from any refund due to you upon canceation, where permitted by aw. Roadside Assistance may eect to not renew your membership for any reason by providing written notice 60 days prior to renewa date. Roadside Assistance may terminate your membership for 7

8 frauduent use of services with a minimum of 30 days written notice. How the Pan Works Roadside Assistance AARP Roadside Assistance provides emergency roadside assistance through a network of independent service providers authorized by Roadside Assistance to perform road and towing service for Roadside Assistance members. They are ocated throughout the U. S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Non-authorized Service Providers Service providers that do not participate in the AARP Roadside Assistance program are usuay more expensive. We require that you aways ca first. If an authorized service provider is not avaiabe, then use the cosest avaiabe service provider and submit your receipt for reimbursement foowing the reimbursement procedures. Important: Since our authorized service providers are independent contractors and are not agents or empoyees of Roadside Assistance, we assume no iabiity for any damage to a member s vehice resuting from the rendering of service or for persona items eft in the vehice. Any caims for damage to the property or person of a member must be fied against the servicing faciity. Roadside Assistance cannot guarantee repairs, the hours of operation of repair faciities, the promptness of repairs, or provide more than one service ca per breakdown. It is the member s responsibiity to arrange for repairs with the service faciity. Types of Vehices Covered Roadside Assistance offers fu road and towing services to vehices designed, icensed, and used for private on-road transportation, incuding passenger vehices, motorcyces, four-wheeed sport utiity vehices, ight trucks, and RVs with a carrying capacity of up to 2,000 pounds. Ony jump start and fue deivery services can be provided for dua-wheeed vehices and for recreationa vehices and pickup trucks with more than 2,000 pounds carrying capacity. 8

9 Specia Equipment Roadside Assistance coverage incudes one normay equipped service vehice, one driver, and one service ca per disabement, up to a maximum cost of $120. Any costs for additiona personne or specia equipment are not covered, are at the member s expense, and are not reimbursabe. Extreme Weather Roadside assistance is designed to render prompt and courteous service. Emergency situations where the motorist is stranded take priority over a disabement where the motorist is in the comfort of a home or office. We ask for your patience and understanding when weather or road conditions are extremey bad. If you are unabe to obtain service caing , then foow the procedures in the If We Cannot Provide Service section of How to Obtain Service. Roadside Assistance Incudes Towing The service provider wi tow your car if it cannot be started or driven without causing damage. Towing wi be imited to 100 mies from the point of disabement at no additiona charge. Any expenses incurred beyond the 100 mie imit wi be your responsibiity, payabe directy to the service provider at the time of service, and are not reimbursabe. Service is imited to one tow or service ca per disabement. Winching If your vehice is stuck in mud, sand, snow, or a ditch, and is accessibe from a normay traveed roadway, it wi be extricated or winched. Winching is imited to one operator/one truck for 30 minutes. Any additiona expenses wi be your responsibiity, payabe directy to the service provider at the time of service, and are not reimbursabe. Fue Deivery If you run out of gas, the service provider wi deiver an emergency suppy of gasoine/diese fue of 2 gaons free of charge or tow your vehice to the nearest gasoine outet, subject to towing options. 9

10 Fat Tire Change The service provider wi change a fat tire with your infated spare tire. If, for any reason, your spare is not usabe, the ug nuts cannot be removed, or your vehice has mutipe fat tires, towing wi be provided in accordance with the towing provisions. Costs for tire repair, instaing a new tire on the whee, or a second service ca to return a tire to the disabed vehice are not covered. Jump Start The service provider wi provide a battery jump start or tow your vehice if your vehice won t start due to a dead or weak battery. Roadside Assistance Does Not Incude The purpose of roadside assistance is to provide service in common emergency situations. Coverage does not incude: Service if member is not with the disabed vehice. However, do not remain with the vehice if it is unsafe to do so. Towing or service whie at an auto repair shop or service station, to another ocation. Towing or service on roads not reguary maintained (incuding private property). Repeated service cas for a car in need of routine maintenance. More than one (1) tow per disabement. Service when a vehice is snowbound. Service providers wi not hoist, winch or shove vehices from unpowed areas, snow banks, snowbound driveways or curbside parking. Service wi not be rendered in areas not reguary traveed, such as vacant ots, beaches, off-road recreation areas, open fieds or other paces that woud be hazardous for service vehices to reach. Instaation or remova of snow tires and chains; dismounting, repairing or rotating tires. Vehice storage charges, cost of parts and instaation, products, materias, impounding and additiona abor reating to towing. 10

11 Service for taxicabs, tractors, boats, traiers, recreationa vehices and trucks, dune buggies, vehices used for competition, stoen vehices, unicensed vehices, iegay parked cars or impounded vehices. Service to vehices with expired safety inspection sticker, icense pate sticker, and/or emission sticker, where required by aw. Service to a vehice that is not in a safe condition to be towed. Transportation for the member to the vehice for service or from the vehice to another destination after service has been rendered. Charging a weak or dead battery. Deivery or repair of tires. Towing of vehice off a boat dock or marina. Service of any kind on vehices used for commercia purposes or using deaer tags. Towing at the direction of a aw enforcement officer reated to traffic obstruction, impoundment, abandonment, iega parking or other vioations of aw. Reimbursement for towing charges covered by automobie insurance. Towing of vehices for disposa (i.e., to junkyard). How to Obtain Service Ca when you need emergency roadside assistance in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico, 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Provide the foowing information when you ca: Membership number. Member verification (name and address). Location of disabed vehice (town, state, street address, and/or cosest intersection). Description of disabed vehice (year, make, mode, coor). 11

12 License pate number and state. Type of service needed (tow, fat tire, jump start, etc.). We wi contact our service provider and dispatch service to you whie you are on the phone. We wi aso te you who is coming and the estimated the time of arriva. When the Service Provider Arrives Be with your vehice. An unattended vehice cannot be serviced. If you cannot remain with the vehice for safety reasons, te the dispatch operator, and an attempt to provide service wi be made. Present your membership card and driver s icense to the service provider. After service is compete, verify the information on the ca sip provided by the service provider, and sign it (if appicabe). Roadside Assistance wi pay the service faciity directy for any covered dispatch charges. You wi be responsibe for paying the service faciity directy for any charges not covered. Pease cance your request for service immediatey if it is no onger needed by caing us back at If We Cannot Provide Service An authorization number wi be provided. The authorization number is required to be eigibe for reimbursement of covered expenses. Ca any service faciity. After service is competed, pay for the service and obtain a receipt from the provider. The receipt shoud incude the provider s name, address, teephone number, date and type of service rendered. Write your name, address, 13- digit authorization number and Roadside Assistance membership number on the origina receipt. 12

13 Mai the origina receipt, within 60 days*, to: AARP Roadside Assistance Caims Department P. O. Box 4440 Caro Stream, IL Keep a copy of the receipt for your records, as we cannot return origina documents due to auditing requirements. Caims submitted with incompete information or without the origina receipt wi be returned for resubmission. * Caims postmarked more than 60 days after the date of the service wi not be honored. No time restrictions appy for residents of UT and WI. Dispatch Guarantee If we are unabe to provide roadside assistance when you ca, we wi reimburse you up to $240 for covered services you ocate yoursef. Reimbursement for Lost/Stoen Key Repacement is imited to $25. Reimbursement for ockout service and accident towing is imited to $120. Reimbursement Poicy AARP Roadside Assistance reserves the right to adjust or deny a caim when the: Amount paid has exceeded the maximum imit. Service rendered is not during the term of active membership. Amount paid contains either parkway or to-way charges. Service rendered is not incuded under Roadside Assistance coverage. Number of caims has exceeded the annua imit. State and oca taxes are not covered. Accidents If roadside assistance or towing is required due to an accident, the oca aw enforcement officia on the scene wi usuay arrange for service. If not, pease ca for dispatch of a service provider on a cash basis. 13

14 You pay the provider for the services, and then submit a caim directy to your auto insurance company. Roadside assistance and/or towing costs resuting from an accident are normay recovered through your insurance company as part of your damage caim. If the insurance company refuses to pay the caim, submit the bi for reimbursement, incuding the refusa from the insurance company. Mai the refusa notice and the origina paid receipt (not photocopies) with your name, address, phone number and Roadside Assistance membership number written on the receipt, within 60 days*, to: AARP Roadside Assistance Caims Department P. O. Box 4440 Caro Stream, IL Caims submitted with incompete information or without the origina receipt wi be returned for resubmission. * Caims postmarked more than 60 days after the service date wi not be honored. No time restriction appies to UT and WI residents. Lockout Service If your ignition key is accidentay ocked inside the vehice, you wi be reimbursed up to $120 for the services of a ocksmith. In case of ost, stoen, or broken keys, you wi be reimbursed up to $25 for key repacement and/or $120 for vehice ock repacement. You must pay for the service, and then submit the bi for reimbursement. 14
