Note: You cannot upgrade the ESM agent for Linux PPC 64 to ESM SP1 or ESM SP2. However, you can upgrade the ESM agent for Linux PPC 64 to ESM 9.0 or later.

9 Chapter 2 Installing the ESM agent on Linux PPC 64 This chapter includes the following topics: Installing the ESM agent on Linux PPC 64 Installing the ESM agent on Linux PPC 64 The installer for the ESM agent for Linux PPC 64 is available as a compressed file named esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz. Download this compressed file from the following link and extract it to a local directory: To install the Symantec ESM agent 1 Log on as a superuser to the computer where you want to install the ESM agent. 2 At the command prompt, change to the directory where you have copied the esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file. 3 Extract the esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file to a directory. 4 Change to the lnx-ppc64\esm65 directory within the directory where you extracted esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz. 5 Type a 2 to perform a basic installation of the agent. 6 Type an A if you accept the terms of license agreement. 7 Type the name of the directory where you want to install the agent. 8 Type the full path of the tar/tgz file. 9 Type the name of the ESM manager to which you want to register the agent.

The default port number is Type the ESM access name that is used to log on the ESM manager. 12 Type the password for the access name. 13 Type the name of the computer on which you want to install the ESM agent. You can type any of the following names for the computer: Host name Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) IP address 14 Do one of the following: Type a 1 to disable LiveUpdate on the agent. Type a 2to enable all managers that register the agent to update the agent. Type a 3 to select the managers that can update the agent. To install the Symantec ESM agent silently 1 Log on as a superuser to the computer where you want to install the ESM agent. 2 At the command prompt, change to the directory where you have copied the esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file. 3 Extract the esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file to a directory. 4 At the command prompt, change to the directory where you extracted the esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file. 5 Change to the lnx-ppc64\esm65 directory. 6 Type the following:./esmsetup -a -p <installation phases to include> -d <installation directory> -t <installation file location> -O <Symantec ESM port number> -U <Symantec ESM account name> -W <user password> -M <manager name> -N <agent name> -b
